  1. Or this and save £125? 😉
  2. I guess spraying the existing bridge isn't an option?
  3. @Pow_22 some really useful tips at the start of this thread, in case you've not already seen: Spector TonePump - Bass Guitars - Basschat (ignore the usual Krow thread hi-jack towards the end!) Dialling back the TonePump has been bit of a game-changer for me with my Spector. Has transformed it from really good --> outstanding. PS I now see that's a thread you're already familiar with, given your Blondie post right at the start!
  4. I'm putting the general increases down to the weakness of £ in the couple of years before you-know-what. But now that is behind us and £ has strengthened again, fingers crossed we will start to see a reversal of those price jumps.
  5. And I would never have a hope of catching you either...
  6. Worth also bearing in mind that the ST = 2 x SC i.e. you don't get the upper freq. response of the SM, which I think you are keen on in terms of your pairing options. I'm very similar to you in terms of stairs and wanting to protect my aging back etc. and for me the compromise was to settle on circa 30 lbs for a BB2 with padded cover. Tbf dark alley, Cuzzie and me, there would only ever be one outcome...😁
  7. Great pedal (yup, it really is very good!) and what a fun video, just loved the "I'm a filter addict" at the start.
  8. Haha - yes stick to buying and selling Yammy BB 434s...😂 If you do get another B1-4, please feel free to grab my free set of patches before having another of your bargain clear outs: the Darkglass B7K is not too shabby at all, and the Tape Echo is just fantastic!
  9. Yep my SC had a dispersion that was notably wider / broader than the previous Markbass cab I had been using. There was a clarity of sound right across the width of venue stage area, which was just great.
  10. @PaulThePlug - if you're ever in the vicinity of E London, post lock down, feel free to pop over. I've been super happy with my (two!) B1-4's and if you want to nick my entire set of bespoke 30 patches or so, and then keep any you like the sound of, you would be very welcome. Hmmm....might even be able to email them to you.

    Which DAW?

If you want a budget fully featured and well regarded integrated audio and video editing suite - I've just checked and Mixcraft 9 Pro is currently on sale for around £110, £35 off.
  12. Agreed - that would be my approach as well. 100% with you on this also! The dispersion from the SC and BB2 are both outstanding - I've had both cabs, starting with the SC and then upgraded to the BB2 (which like you I bought used rather than new). The BB2 is fuller and sweeter sounding. Exactly the right question to the right person!

Ah ok, thanks, back to Mixcraft for me then...
  14. Or possibly a BB2 to have everything in one box? Less flexibility than Chris's suggestion, obviously, but IMO not a bad one! I know a lot of folk don't seem to mind the fact that the SC and ST top out at 4kHz, but it partly explains why adding the SM gives the really good pairing Chris has found to give you access to the higher end frequency ranges. The BB2 similarly goes right up into the treble range so you get the benefit of "bite" switch e.g. on a Tech 21 VT Bass DI and also on several amps at 6.5 kHz, and upper harmonics around the 10 kHz range for a bit more zing on slap bass, if that's your thing. The "bite" setting can often feel like removing a blanket from your cab and add that extra bit of presence to your sound.

    Which DAW?

Aha, so I don't need a separate video editor. Ok that does make it very interesting.

    Which DAW?

Hah! Glad memory lapses are not just an Al Krow foible. I've never had Cakewalk...😁

    Which DAW?

Dammit, looks like a few of us are going to get swept up on Cubase wave.😁 Can it handle video files or do you need a separate video editor / if we want an AIO solution, are Mixcraft and Reaper still the obvious solutions?

Are you looking to do just audio, or video too?
  19. Ok I succumbed! Seller kindly offered to knock the cost of a replacement Glock pre off his previously agreed price and left me with nowhere to go in terms of excuses! Quick review There was a huge amount of fret buzz on 4 out of the 5 strings, when I first got my hands on the bass, but this was easily sorted by raising the action on the strings a little and it's still very comfortable to play. I needed to order some imperial Allen keys, as it's a USA Sept 2005 model predating my other basses. 1/16" was supposedly the right size, but turned out to be too big; fortunately the immediately smaller thread (1.27mm) in the mini set I got from Amazon did the honours nicely. Followed that by adjusting the pup heights to balance the volume from each of the pups and also adjusting the internal preamp trim pot and she was good to go. The preamp does need replacing, as I mentioned earlier in this thread, but set flat on active both pups individually deliver a full, meaty tone which I really like. There's a slightly sweeter mid-scooped tone with both pups engaged, but the B string is then correspondingly weaker, so I'll likely be using it on either solo'd pup for now. At just over 10 lbs she's at the heavier end of my basses, but the extended horn is there to provide really good weight balance, which seems to work well. 34" fretboard is what I'm used to and makes it easy to play and has 24 frets with very easy access to the top end, which I'm a fan of. I always love a neck through for that additional touch of sustain and ability to make the bass sing, but mostly 'cos it looks great (ok I'm shallow - haha!). Block inlays on what seems to be an ebony fretboard are a nice touch and I'm very much a sucker for anything white sporting a "BB" moniker 😁, and in common with my Yamaha BB1025, the Carvin also offers the option of body through stringing.
  20. Will be really interested on your feedback on the Classic 4, a couple of us have got our eye on the Classic 5 in white!
  21. Oooh what are the two new models you have incoming?
  22. Any family resemblance? 😉
  23. Another big fan of Dua Lipa's basslines! And they don't do it too shabbily "live" on bass either...
  24. Hey - I don't recall seeing one of those on this thread. There will obviously be plenty of white BB pics with no pickguard at all, but that's clearly not what you're looking for.
  25. EURO 5LX PJ RAS-LAYER Not sure about the Nord pups vs trad EMGs and those plastic knobs are meh. But the reverse-PJ format in a 5er is lush. Only available in Japan?
