1.
Hmmmm.... NV610 or NV215..... choices choices. I've got till April to decide...
Hmm That will be 610 vs 412. 610 for the SVT810 vibe - punchier, tighter 412 for that Bassman vibe - smoother, deeper Mark
2.
Mark, I'll be in tomorrow to grab that Blueburst L2500! Alex
Alex Okay - see you tomorrow ;-) Mark
3.
I've got 3 payments left on the Dingwall and 7 on the amp if I remember correctly. It's up for review in March by the Government so I would hazard a guess it will get scrapped. It's such a great idea and has helped me to get items I'd normally spend months saving up for.
Dan The scheme is being changed - as of April/May 2011 the scheme will only be available for 16 - 26 year olds. So you old gits need to get a shake on if you want to use it! Mark
4.
Mark looks as if you need to hire someone.... So about the job..
...............you know that is not a bad idea................I will looking for someone soon..............
5.
I don't want to seem rude, but a 2 hour drive is a big price (in time and petrol) to pay for a cup of tea (not to mention it'd be the second time, meaning 4 hours of driving for a cuppa and a noodle on a Dingwall). Next time I have GAS, if there's something you have in that I fancy, I might pop in, but it's a long way for general curiosity now that I have the Sandberg.
Again - I am sorry I was sidelined, had you hung on a couple of minutes I would have been all yours. I understand your frustration, it is also very frustrating for me when I cannot give my customer my full attention like that. I hope you will come back again and we can spend some time trying a few more options. Mark
6.
I went down to BD a while back and although Mark seemed nice, he quickly disappeared into his office for a phone call for over 20 minutes leaving me stuck in the shop holding a bass. I work in a guitar shop sometimes and I know how annoying it is when people help themselves to gear, especially expensive stuff, so in the end I just felt very uncomfortable and left. I very much doubt that it was deliberate, but it was an hour drive each way resulting in me getting to try out one bass and feel very awkward. The frustrating part was that there was a Lakland JO in at the time (that is on this forum now) that I was considering buying on the day, I ended up waiting and getting a Sandberg instead.
I felt very sorry for you - it was just bad timing. I am here on my own so sometimes it gets a bit mad! Popin again and I will make you a cup of tea to make up for it ;-) Mark
7.
I had a pleasant enough conversation with Mark on the phone yesterday. I did get the impression he's a little stressed by the situation with sending out orders at the moment. Probably the busiest time of the year compounded by the weather delaying stuff. Good luck with all that Mark! Have a good christmas. Hopefully I'll see you next week!
It is chaos at the moment - too much going on and the snow is really not helping. All good fun though! Mark PS - It has been two tears now since I opened the shop!
8.
Bizarrely co-incidental in that it happened precisely after the point I asked you very nicely to please not talk over me, Mark, but in any event, apology accepted. You did, however, almost persuade me to buy the Berg' Mark and yes, I would like to come over to Warwick to play it once I can get down from this Welsh hill...
There is no accounting for my phone - this is not the first time it has happened, it is quite embarrassing to be honest! A new phone is on my Christmas wish list ;-) Mark PS - When the snow has cleared it would be great to spend some time whizzing around a few cabs, incidentally there is a new Genz 115 cab coming out in February that looks very interesting - here - http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp..._Uber_Cabs.html PPS - I tend to talk a lot when I get excited
9. Hi Sorry - my phone died, cordless and all that technology...........my apologies but I did not have a number to get back you on. Regards Mark
10. Aha - call me in the shop if you interested in buying this bass, I will always try to look after the BCers :-) Mark
11. Hi all - wel, excuse my "marketing" speel, back in the early 1990 I helped distribute G&L and in UK so know just how good they are. FMIC has spent much time and money preventing G&L using the Fender name in any advertising, marketing etc so I have to be careful what I say...... IMHO Leo Fender thew all he could into these basses, you have to make your own mind up as to whether you like them. I am just trying to set the record straight as most players do not know anything about the G&L and most are shocked when they discover that these are Leo Fender designed. My opinion is that they are excellent - great built, playability and design. The USA models are beautifully made and the Tribute basses are excellent value! this Pearl 30th Anniversary is £2100 and is hand built and very limited. POA is there because I did not know the list price as the bass only arrived on Friday - hence the "stock" picy. If you have any questions please contact me. Mark
12. Karl Casters do indeed help with isolating the speaker, however there is also a problem when you take the cab too far from the floor as you lose the "acoustic coupling" effect of the floor and there can be a small loss of low end. There will be a benefit to putting your caster cab on a GRAMMA but it will not be as profound as that on a regular cab, plus you may well exhibit a small loss of low end as you are raising the cab another 4 " - however this will be small and the reduction in "boom" is worth it IMHO on some stages. I hope that helps. Mark
13. Hi all This has been a very interesting read - personally I think this could be the best £40 you ever spend as a bass player! Don't forget these work with any type of speaker cabinet and are ideal for PA bass bins, guitar amps etc - I use these for my PA bass bins with excellent results! Regards Mark
14.
I got finance on a Spector years ago from Sound Control. Bass cost me £350 and 12 months interest free, all good ! However, if I hadn't have paid it up within the 12 months i'd automatically have entered into a 3 year agreement with 30% APR and the bass would have cost me nearer £700, oddly I made sure that didn't happen ! Always read the smallprint.
"Take it away" is not this sort of scheme. Currys, etc offer these finance options - so no catch ;-) Mark PS - When are you going to come in to the shop - you must be, oh, 20 minutes away ;-D
15. Ken Smith basses are now available from Bass Direct, strings and accessories will also be stocked, please let me know if you need any information. http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_sp...ss_guitars.html Regards Mark
16. Hi all, Take it away is a very user friendly scheme that is available through many music instrument shops across the UK. It does cost the retailer a small percentage, but ultimately helps you (the customer) make a purchase a little easier to manage. As always, you should make sure you have the means to pay the monthly payments, the company who processes the scheme are very easy to deal with and offer three early pay out options with no penalties. As you all know I sell some very high end basses and I feel that the scheme helps customers reach for an instrument that would may be beyond the reaches of their current finances - rather than put it on the credit card and pay interest take it away offers you 9 months interest free credit with no penalties. Overall it is a win, win situation, however as one poster has mentioned, if you do find yourself in trouble and not able to make a payment you should always contact the finance company and alert then your situation (and any other creditors) as they will help you where they can. And obviously, I do not condone or encourage anyone running up a debt that they cannot pay off - that is why there is a £2000 limit as this seems a reasonable amount. If you have any further questions please PM me or call me in the shop. Regards Mark
17. Hi guys - wow you lot are on fire!!! ;-) Actually - I am not convinced it is Alder, it could be ash, it is really hard to tell. I am taking it to my tech next week to confirm. ( You can check easier by taking the neck off but I am reluctant to do this) Mark PS - It is definitely not cheese!
18. Hi It seems well balanced to me waearing it on a confort strapp, is it a bit neck heavy when sitting with it, due to the larger 70s style headstock I guess. Mark
19. EXCITING NEWS ;-) THE BASS WEIGHS 9LB 1OZ, 4 KG - this has to be one of the lightest Fender Jazz basses I have ever had in the shop!!! Regards Mark PS - Yes weight is subjestive, but try telling my shoulder that
20. Hi all This is a really nice example of a CBS 70s Jazz. I stated this to be clear about it's origins as opposed the "pre CBS" era up to 1964. The bass is not the "boat anchor" that so many Jazzes tend to be, I would say around 9 1/2 lb, but I will weigh it tomorrow. Regards Mark
21. Hi all - just a heads up as Bass Direct will be at Bass Day UK this year again, I have limited space for gear ( and I have lots in stock) so if there is a particular bass that you would like to see/try please email me and I will try to bring it to the show. I will be able to take card payments at the show if anything takes your fancy. I will have some cool stuff on the stand and there will be some great deals on TC gear at the show - you have been warned ;-) Regards Mark email - [email protected]
22. Shh.....just in FYI Mark
23. Si - this is the last bass you recommended for the shop - thank you for all your support buddy RIP. Chronos 5 Mark
24. Very compact, amazingly loud, on wheels - there is nothing quite like this cab, all custom drivers designed by Bergantino including a "super tweeter", 1000w out put. The ultimate "Q" cab IMO ;-D Mark
