1.
Is that for the full rig above?!
Yes - it could have been more like £4000, that is just from memory, I am sure the KV2 guys will have more accurate prices now. I tried the early models and then last year tried the full rig with amp, it is insanely good! Mark
 2.
Hmmm.... Makes you wonder how much of this stuff they'll shift. Regardless of the quality, so many of the bands playing big stages need a "show" rig, hence the popularity of Ampeg SVT 8x10s - even if the bass is just DId and through the mons. The times when you see other big rigs tend to feel like endorsement deals, which are there to sell the cheaper gear to Jonny muso - except it looks like there will be no cheaper gear. Wonder where this'll go. That said, KV2 are hardly mass market as it is, so maybe the boutique line will work OK for them? Wonder what the prices will be like...? As a clue, in their PA line, other than their (not very) budget KX range (around £1k for a 12" active cab), you'll struggle to find prices, as they're definitely on the pro side! As a clue, their excellent passive VHD 2.0 cab lists around the £7.7k mark - per cab... Makes you think again about your Peavey Eurosys PA, eh!
Well, I totally agree about the endorsement aspect, SVT are just like a standard bit of kit that rental; companies keep in stock as they are lazy and rarely want to carry too many options. You are looking at around £3000 approx for this rig from what I remember. However it may be ideal for rental companies to carry as you can run your own preamp/pedals etc through it and have a bit more control on stage compared to the rather outdated and frankly limited SVT (albeit ideal for some). We shall see.............. Mark
 3. Well, I have played through this rig at Frankfurt last year. A good customer of mine who worked for KV2 audio had been helping on some of the design aspects. It is a full on, PA for bass (which is like much of the gear I sell at Bass Direct anyway) however it is much larger and louder and would be well suited for large stages. The sound is not coloured or tailored like so many domestic "bass rigs" it is a pa/monitor system - what you put in is what you get out. It is amazing if that is what you are looking for, however compared to the compact rigs of today, is not for the average gigging muso IMHO. Pro's or gear heads only need apply - oh, and it will be pretty expensive! Regards Mark
 4.
I'm looking forward to it. You've got probably the best Dingwall selection of any dealer in the world. You'd have to go to a NAMM show to compare so many of our models in one place. What kind of weather can you expect that time of year?
Sheldon Thank you ;-) The weather could be freezing cold or very mild - this is the UK after all, we have no idea Mark
 5. Mike was in shop last week and I know he is planning on coming to the show. Mark
 6. Hi Sheldon, glad you made it on the UK Forum! We will have a good selection of Dingwall basses on Dass Direct stand so some and say hi to myself and Sheldon, try out some gear and have a chat ;-) Mark
 7. Well - I had not heard of Mr Hopper either! However this hybrid beast is actually pretty cool, the pink ones are rare if that is your thing ;-) Regards Mark
 8.
Having received the famous Tin Pan Ally customer service experience, it's great to find a Bass shop who delivers the opposite. Hope to visit next Monday. How far are you from Denham, the other half is on a course there and I'm the driver, I have 8 hours to kill and would love a look around. Sam
Hi Sam You are 1hr 20 mins away, pop in and say hello. Regards Mark
 9.
So... When are you giving me this job then Mark?
Chris You are on my list Mark
 10. Hi all "Speculative selling" is a real problem on the net and music shops are some of the worst offenders. Since starting Bass Direct I have always tried on only offer for sale what I actually have in stock, although I may list other products for informations sake. With basses I always try to get a picture of the 'actual bass" where ever I can so you can see what it is your buying. I really don't like selling a bass 'unplayed' and always recommend customers to come into the shop to try basses (and amps etc) as I feel is so important as they all vary slightly and it is a very personal decision. Always ask to see pictures of any instrument you are considering buying off the web is my advice! Regards Mark
 11.
Hi Mark, can Esh do these as lefties?
I believe so - I will check. Mark
 12.
Yeah spotted that the other day, looks pretty hot - would like to see it as a 5/6 string and in some other colour combos !
These are great basses - the bridges use "full range" piezo technology unique to ESH, crazy deep low end! Marmite basses ;-) Happy new year all! Mark PS - Am at my new year gig checking up on basschat............lol
 13. Delighted to help - I have one NV412 in stock ( I will have a couple more in at the end of Feb/March). I hope you have all survived the chaos that is "Christmas". The snow is melting and normality seems to be returning ;-) Mark
 14.
Anyone wanna buy a Lakland...and a Status...and a Fender Jazz Fretless...ARGH!!!!
Easy Tiger! Too many basses, so little time! M
 15.
Do people not use mobile telephones anymore?? I'd love to come visit at some point, but its a little off the beaten track for me.....one day Si
Si 45minutes to High Wycombe on the M40 - door to door! Get the train and I will pick you up from Leamington Station. No excuses ;-) Mark
 16.
Bah! Drove up to Bassdirect today because I wanted that G & L, but also really wanted to try that 2nd hand Fender '83 FL P. If I liked it I woulda gone for that instead! But, alas, as I was walking towards the hallowed orange unit 12 door, I noticed a distinct lack of footprints leading up to it. I tested the door anyway but no, 'twas not to be! Bloody weather!! Truckstop
Ahhh - that was the backdoor, the main door is on the other side of the unit in the courtyard - it was a crazy busy day today and I was looking forward to you coming in!! (I really should put a notice on that door - sorry dude!) Mark
 17.
Which in your opinion is the winner if that's possible? Both have great form factor, the Genz is slightly cheaper.
Well - that is always subjective, both cabs are excellent IMO - the Genz Benz Neox 212T has a little more upper mid, where as the Bergantino AE212 has superior high end detail. The AE212 is more compact and edges the Neox 212T on build quality but both are ideal for a wide range of musical applications and light IMHO. Mark
 18.
As a fellow retailer, I know what it's like this time of the year, especially if you're on your own.
Pete Agreed - the snow is REALLY not helping! I have customers in from Cheshire, Bristol, London etc in the last couple of days - they are heroes for braving the weather! Mark
 19. Well - Pete seems to have plenty of plumtyness going in with his Redhead friend above ^^^^^^^ It's a dead heat in the Zeplin race
 20.
Is she getting plumper? :-)
I think so - define plumper ;-) M
 21.
Ahhh, I traded mine in recently for some other Bass Gear. Seemed like a good time to sell to be honest... Wait.... You're not talking about elderly relatives are you?
You guys are killing me........I can hardly concentrate on Nigella...now stop it
 22.
I thought I'd already auditioned for that job a few weeks ago - helping sell berg cabs to the guy who wanted another brand! I'm still waiting for the other guy to come and hear my Roscoe played live - he hasn't made it to a gig yet! Did you sell his Lakland? Hi Mark, Merry Xmas and hope to have the pickups soon Cheers Martin W
Martin You are an honorary member of staff, you know that ;-) My Lakland is still undecided......... Mark
 23.
Well we got it right with the Genz Benz Neox212T before so I trust you with the Berg!
This is a very different cab to the Neox212T, I love the 212T, one of favourite cabs of all time (although the new Berg 212 is taking it on) the NV610 is a monster, if you like the mid growl and SVT tone then this cab is the biz! Mark
 24.
Oops! Yep, that's what I meant! Sounds like the 610 is the puppy then.... hmmmm....
For you - there can be no doubt ;-) M
