  1. Many of you may have seen my Stingray Special I had up for sale recently but pulled down after there was a credible reason for mysterious appearing holes....wood worm, well actually they're not worms having since researched them to not quite death - they're more likely to be beetle larvae ! On closer inspection, what i thought were small chips were actually further holes - I've now counted approx 10 holes in total. 100% bugs and the little funkers clearly have the munchies. Great bass weight loss program! So I emailed both Musicman and GuitarGuitar. Both have been absolutely amazing.GuitarGuitar have spoken with Musicman who intend to replace the body and i will be sending the bass to GuitarGuitar (assume for assembly). Needless to say the bass is locked away in its case in a colder part of the house. I do remain slightly anxious the little funkers maybe out and about checking out my book case and woe betide any of my other basses - I will look to see if i can get anything that eradicates them at the weekend (tips please)...perhaps my closest religious affiliation is Buddism/Funkadelic but my inner peace will take a miss on this one.....the funkers shall rue the day! I shall await the next stages from Musicman but it's all looking promising....and it's looking promising that i won't need to sell now -sorry for all those interested, i never wanted to sell if I'm honest and i cannot praise GuitarGuitar enough for their support - always been impressed with their commitment to customer support. A further massive shout out to the BassChatter who alerted me to this known issue - i would have never considered this in a millipede years Bye funkers:
  2. SOLD ELSEWHERE New and unused Gibson Truss Rod cover, as used on Thunderbird basses - can replace an Epiphone cover also
  3. Yes, took me by surprise. I've just had the bass out and placed a needle in some of the holes to check depth, some go nearly 1cm deep, and a little fine dust came out of one hole - that's certainly not my first theory and I really don't think my children would be capable of such a thing and i trust them, but in the absence of any credible explanation....well! - I am now pretty convinced this is 99.9% some insect of some kind. I am also curious that the area i keep my basses has also been my home office over the last 12 months, radiator on etc - getting warmer - awakening the hungry little critters to a similar Californian temp! As I say I have only noticed this in the last 2 months, probably less to be honest. There was always however a little pin hole by the bridge when i go the bass, perhaps that was the entry...until now! I have sent a message to 'Strings & Things' who appear to be the Ernie Ball UK rep in the first instance. I got the bass 2019 from GuitarGuitar Birmingham and the bass is firmly in its case now in a cooler area, hopefully that'll sedate anything. Any advice gladly welcome.
  4. I’m going to temporarily withdraw this sale whilst I investigate if I have a wood worm/beetle problem. A kind member has highlighted this issue having been seen on another forum, it really does fit with what I am witnessing: http://forums.ernieball.com/ernie-ball-music-man-basses/68698-paint-issues-stingray-special.html
  5. TEMPORARILY WITHDRAWN FOR WOOD BEETLE INVESTIGATION - see thread #3 Never thought I'd part with this amazing bass but a recent purchase of a 74 Precision off here means i need to sell some of my gear to repay the family loan. Feel free to make an offer on any other gear in my signature below So i think i got This bass in 2018, may have been 2019, from GuitarGuitar Birmingham. I bought it for £2100, got a bit knocked of as it had a tiny pin hole near the bridge, never bothered me. So i guess i could potentially get a bit more for this bass but a few months back i had discovered the bass had acquired a few odd random small paint chips, and again what looks like further odd pin holes. This was really odd indeed, I was initially unsure if it was simply the paint flaking or simialr, and I'm sure it'll be an easy touch up for those wishing to do this. As i've barely gigged this bass and have looked after it the only realistic conclusion to these oddities is a 'keep calm & deny it' young 6yrs old drummer wannabe who plays with his toys in the room with my guitar rack where this bass has mostly been for the last couple of months....."of course i never did it Daddy", and I’m inclined to believe him. Anyhow it's nothing that effects any playability just cosmetic. Do study the pictures as i have tried my best to capture these chips/pin holes. Other than that this Stingray is a stonking funk machine that had been my pride and joy until the recent 74 Precision purchase. This bass will make someone very happy, i am confident of that. Weighs a lovely 8.03lbs exactly, so super light. Low action and the roasted neck is to die for - really smooth.Comes with super expensive Hipshot D-tuner (I say expensive as i bought from the USA before Bass Direct had them in), Musicman case Musicman bag and tools, strap locks. has MarkBass Strings about 2 months old and the 'om' sticker is easily removable too. Original E tuner will also be added, and the original strap locks if i can find them. Comes with the original Musicman case I will miss this one, and someone will get a cracking player that just works great - Stingray sounds and much more - very versatile......and i will own another one day! Sale only, no trades. Can post for £30 insured or collect Plymouth.

  7. Soooo want this, and also a fellow Devonian. YOB bass too. Savings already spent on a car for the wife. I’d now have to sell my babies to fund, unless you’re interested in a sort after Aqua sparkle Stingray Special and a Sandberg. Did even try a quick loan but that’s now not looking good thanks to an ongoing legal dispute with those toss pots British Gas. Despite having the ombudsman’s help, and looking like I have won the case after 2yrs, the damage is there to a once perfect credit rating - unfortunately the loan % rates were ridiculous....infuriating to say the least. Still working on creative ideas though.
  8. I’ve been learning to use a pick on/off over the last 12 months - it’s bleddy hard work, I still haven’t cracked it. 25 years of fingers to blame.
  9. Looks very Sandberg esq, zero fret too. I'd go for this. However, If sticking with the Sire or Ibanez though i'd go Sire by a country mile...a lot of bass!
  10. I keep looking at these......i feel something looming in the under £350 GAS land.....although those new Sire P's also look very good, but these Epipi's also look good. I had the Thunderbird recently which i thought sounded great, just looked silly on my beer belly......these may be a bit better...hmmm.
  11. I went for the Aguilar in my Electra, unfortunately no passive option on the newer Electra but it does sound really sweet with original pre, a lot warmer than the stock sound (which was also great).
  12. Unfortunately the bass was in a very poor state when I received it so not sure if i can comment on before. It sounds great now though and the neck is super smooth to play an feels very solid. Tried a bit of chorus earlier for those 'Pino' wannabe moments
  13. Yeah, the slides are a bit weird early on in the tune, perhaps overdubbed afterwards (?), but its got some crazy fun parts true to the Funkadelic spirit
  14. Did this one the other day - great fun, there's a few tutorials on Youtube too....funky as funk, especially the outro riffs:
  15. ....And The Vox White Shadow.....she lives and breathes again! Saved by Basschat when it was so close to firewood. But she mwah's like a big kiss once again and with the spare Sandberg pickups and pre i had it really sings too. Super low action to boot, easy set up...very happy - it's a winner. @Andyjr1515 you are a gentleman and a genius! I thank thee 👍
  16. Great looking jazz there @Reggaebass, love the white tort combo. Didn't the after 2012 have the 60's pick ups, or some special ones at least?
  17. Mwahvellous on every level - chuffed to bits. B/C really is a great place 😊🕺🏿😊
  18. Wow, so impressive just looking through this thread, complete resurrection. Well done @Andyjr1515
  19. Gosh, yeah that was a long time back - 2009 ish? That was a great fretless that one - those pickups are brilliant.
  20. I can feel it breathing again
