Rickenbackers have been a bit of a slow burner for me. I borrowed one (from a work colleague) for a lunchtime and despite the bass being horrifically set up, that tone was there instantly. Jetglo finished get two thumbs up in my book. Nice one. P

[/quote] I can admire/appreciate it when someone creates something out of some planks of wood, perhaps to a lesser degree when someone screws together some parts (I'm as guilty as the next guy on this count), but the whole 'My Shuker/ACG build' thing rubs me the wrong way. I have nothing against these luthiers, they do fine work, but surely anyone with a few bob to spare can get someone to build something for them, but the poster isn't the one getting splinters. P

Just an observation, any chance the porn section could revert back to how it used to be? You know, individual member posts of new acquisitions, collections etc. rather than these TalkBass-esque threads where everyone just chucks their collections in a general bucket? Next thing we'll be copying and starting Rickenbacker/Spector/Thunderbird clubs and everyone will start having their own number. Sure I like looking at basses, but maybe I'm just a bit old school, to be honest I liked it more when Wayne posted photos of his checkered Frankenstein models or when Gary would just throw up photos of his collection of 1,700+ Spectors and everyone just went 'Wooooooo'. They're great basses, lightweight with fantastic tone and you got a decent deal. I know they're not everyones cup of tea. Ignore all the nonsense about neck diving etc. As I've posted previously, I'm a chubby guy in my 40s and the TB makes me feel like a I'm a skinny 20 year old. They're like magic. P

I wouldn't think it would be too much of a problem, but you'd need to drill the body. If you're of a mind, get yourself one of the Hipshot bridges instead of a Gibson/copy, they're way superior and you only need to make two holes as opposed to three. You'll have full control over intonation and individual string height. Woop. P

We're just having a bit of a clearout...got a pair of BT Hub Phones (model 1010), the cradles and chargers of anyone wants them. Should all fit into a jiffy bag or collection welcome (Crowthorne, Berkshire). Cheers P

Can anyone here shed some light on the limited run Gibson Thunderbird Gothic bass? I found a few images online...effectively a Thunderbird in a black finish, black hardware and what looks like a darker than normal (stained?) fingerboard. The scratchplate has the eagle motif, but it's black. It was listed on Musicians Friend in the US at one stage. Doesn't seem to be anything else about this bass online. Nothing on eBay. Anyone got one? Cheers P

I've got several, but tend to play the Thunderbird most of the time. I like the Lakland as an option for recording, but rarely use the rest of them. P
