1. Were it not for the fact that you specified 'slap', I'd be all over this. I never learned to play slap DB and I'm too old now - that stuff is arthritis on a stick.
2. I suspect there are enough differences between the two for such an action to have failed. http://vintage-guitars.blogspot.com/2006/04/gibson-eb-1.html http://www.vintagehofner.co.uk/gallery/gallery2/bass.html
3.
Some mind blowing technology here: http://www.ricktoone...nstruments.html
http://youtu.be/l2qa3J2sKlA
4. I still want to know more about Rocakabilly, mind.
5. But for my trail camera I use lithium batteries - alkaline batteries are far too sensitive to temperature. Worth thinking about if you routinely play outdoors in mid-winter ...
6. Works for me. $240 plus courier plus import duty & VAT, but you end up with a case that would survive a nuclear attack, has room for at least three uke basses, and is likely to get you taken down by a Tactical SWAT team as you enter the pub where you're playing. We need more of this thinking.
7.
Super compact is a 12 though, so cant really be gen 3 of the compact. So i guess there was only 2 gens of the 15 ? For some reason, there are no 15's currently listed on the BB website
But surely you need 15s to get the really low bass notes? Bwahahahahahahaha!!!
8. But in that case, choice of DI box is pretty critical. Using a cheap active box will really not help at all. If you want to go straight to PA, then IME you either need one of the excellent Radial boxes (I have a Passive JDI and also a StageBug) or even better you need a Fishman preamp pedal, my favourite being the Platinum Pro. There are are plenty of other good boxes to choose from.
9. Gun cases? What the hell type of gun do they use in Wales these days?
10. That's tiny enough that you could use it as a neckplate ...
11. I'm astonished that so far no one has called out Ralph on his not-so-subtle sub-text with this topic ... today's charts PROVE that Ed Whatshisname is actually BETTER than The Beatles, and he's just not man enough to admit it!!!!!!!!
12.
Didn't Fenders of the period also have chamfered edges on the pickguard?
Ah, but this is an "old after market pickguard".
13.
Wasn't radio always a bit biased in what it played ...

Understatement of the year so far ...

Yes! Biased in what they play, say, do... Can't expect much more from the British Biased Corporation
Oh bloody hell Dood, get a grip! I was talking about radio in general, not the BBC. I'd say more, but you've already dragged f***ing politics into this topic.

15. Does it have a fitted hardcase / rigid soft case or similar?
16. They didn't actually do these in LPB did they? Every factory fretless I've ever seen from the 70s is either 3TS or a hippy re-fin.
17.
Errrrm... It may be a small matter but when is original 'original'? Original Fretless Fender P Bass from 1974 Maple Neck - Original Finish and Machine heads Lake Placid Blue body Refin by JKG London Original P Bass pickup and coil winding - 1974 Volume and Tone Pots - New 0,05 Tone Cap - Old after market Bridge & Pick guard
Don't forget that bit!
18.
They shouldn't include streaming, only downloads. My daughter has been streaming one song several times a journey every time she gets in the car. One person could be responsible for maybe 100plays in one week. To me that's not really a true measure of 'popularity' of a song. .
I entirely agree ... except ... what makes the number of physical 45rpm singles sold a better answer? As a teenager I bought loads of 45s. Some got played twice and then never again, some were still being played regularly years later. The charts of my yoof didn't detect any of that. A 1973 Top 20 chart based purely on the number of plays each song got on UK radio would look different from a chart based on sales, but would be equally valid or invalid depending on your point of view. Streaming is just radio-on-demand.
19. Really liking that Kingston Town vibe. [Pedant] Not too sure about the references above to "reggae". I'm hearing Ska and Rock Steady but nothing I'd call reggae. [/Pedant]
20. That thing looks absolutely tiny! I have a Harley Benton jobbie (well two actually, fretted & fretless) and they must each be twice the size of that.
21. I must have been 11 when this was in the charts and apparently a big hit. I had no idea. http://youtu.be/BeJ55sUacPM
22.
I can only manage football terrace oohs and aaahs with the occasional whoo hoo.
Troo dat.
23.
Me too, I will simplify the bass line which allows me to sing. Blue
Simplify is good, but there are other solutions too. If you listen to Macca's bass line on All My Loving, it's clear that he starts the descending run from high on the G string and plays almost the entire piece above the 7th fret across all four strings. If you watch any of the live clips of him playing it in the early 60s (concert footage obviously, but also TV shows in the UK, Germany and Scandinavia are very helpful) he plays the whole thing down by the nut, making it far easier to check his positions by feel without having to think too much about it.
24. It looks like a pretty obvious piss-take to me. I particularly like the B&Q steel reinforcement being used as a tailpiece.
25. Maybe they just ran out of capital letters?
