Putting my Warwick 5 up for sale - it's a Streamer Stage 1 5 string, about a '92, bought in '97 from The Gallery in Camden. It's in pretty good nick, but could do with a bit of a clean and set-up. Twin Bartolinis. I was going to fix it up and ask for a grand, but could let it go for £900 as it is. If anyone's interested please let me know. Cheers
Now on display in the Gallery.

Sly & The Family Stone - Victoria Park 21.07.07
Lenny B replied to mxm's topic in General Discussion
How was it? About 10 (?) years ago I saw Prince play in Spain with Larry Graham, Cynthia Stone and Jerry Martinez play half hour of Sly covers with Prince being Sly. That was very special. Many (any?) original Family Stones? -
Great thread and some excellent information! Should anyone here be in a situation where they are involved in a musical project that involves having to sign any kind of deal, IMHO, having a good relationship with a music business lawyer that you trust is really important and can help to both advance and protect your career.
Exactly - articles can be really useful to understand how the industry and the various types of agreements work, but a lawyer is essential for making sure that any agreement is appropriate to you, he (she) can forsee any potential difficulties with an agreement that a lay person probably isn't aware of and try and help avoid problems before they arise. Believe me, it's easier (and cheaper) for a lawyer to help put a deal together than trying to repair one which has gone wrong! -

It's in pretty good nick, but could do with a bit of a clean and set-up. The only issue is the nut's come loose - I emailed Warwick about this and they said it can happen if you remove the strings from one side to the other, rather than one from each side and work inwards. Said it's simple to repair. It's a great bass but i've not much time for it at the moment (and I promised the missus i'd sell before i buy and my GAS is up and running) I was going to fix it up and ask for a grand, but could let it go for £900 as it is. If anyone's interested please let me know. Cheers
Bump - nut being fixed at the Gallery

Whoever played bass on "America" by Simon & Garfunkel - what a fantastic melodic line going on there. Whoever played bass on the soundtrack to the film version of "Hair" - as fast and groovy as anything! Billy Gould (FNM) - I'd forgotten how much I learnt by playing along with "The Real Thing"

Note Tesco kitchen sponge (having removed scouring side) stuck under strings by bridge. I've had some great results with it, and, as said above, can be removed in seconds.
Lol, ok it is a bassist thing then. not just someones thing that everbody ripped off. well its ok to rip it off if its a fellow bass player and many have before maybe
I think it's now more of a bass player's heritage and tradition than it being a rip-off! It's a nod of the cap to those who went before!

Hi there - a bit of advice needed. Someone in France wants to buy a bass from me - i'd be grateful for any tips on; - collecting money from abroad (never used paypal - is that the easiest?) - packing and shipping a bass; - any recommended companies and how to price it? Thanks.

Sing a line and then find the notes you're singing. You tend not to end up with the same patterns your hands naturally fall into
I want to buy your bass! My mail is
PM and email sent

You may well post a smiley! Very nice indeed (place bowl to catch drool...)
-
Comfort strap - (except on my Precision Lyte where i've got a funky old thing)

Would love to but have a family do - sorry. Enjoy, hope it's a cracker.

The only advice i can give is i remember reading somewhere (mesa-boogie review?) that blue LEDs are more visible under stage lights than red LEDs. Hope that helps a little.

I used to have a Tobias - it was a great little bass, light, fast, funky, with a Darth Vader hologram sticker (May the Funk be with you). I sold it to buy my Warwick, but do miss it at times (sigh...) Very nice gear Garry - just read the build diary on the Jazz, and as I've just sanded my floors I can relate to the volumes of sandpaper! The Jazz looks great, more food for thought...

Interesting article from Sound On Sound about session bass playing; - some of the MU rates have changed now. http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/oct98/arti...ssionmusic.html Just to clear up a few points from above; - whether or not you get a 'credit' shouldn't affect your entitlement to PPL income - (PPL income is shared 50/50 between the record label and artist and the artist's share is divided 65/35 between the featured performer or band and all other session musicians. ) This is because a performer is entitled to 'equitable remuneration' for his performances being played in public. It's a fairly new concept in copyright terms. - don't confuse PRS and PPL income - they are both income streams arising from Public Performances, but PRS is for songwriters and PPL is for performers. Any more Q's, please ask.
