Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!
This is my current pedal board. It's going to change imminently (I just bought a Voodoo Lab PSU and Pedaltrain board), but the pedals will stay the same (I think). I play in a progrock covers band. Basically they are used like this: The B:Assmaster and Choralflange are for the Squire tones. The Bass Drive is for Mike Rutherford and John Wetton sounds. The digital delay is for some Floyd-y things (together with the distortions for some huge swells). I had the Boss Tremolo/Pan there for a while - but it was noisy as hell. I also had a seventies EH Electric Mistress, but it was too limited. Also frequently spotted on the board in recent times: and Black Cat Bass Octave Fuzz (replaced by the Malekko), a Boss OC-2 and an AW-2, an MXR Phase-100 and a SHaftesbury Duo-Fuzz.
How do you find the Choralflange? I have the feeling that would be my ultimate flanger but never heard it on bass. I like flangers with a mix knob (only know 2 or 3). A bit too big now that I've downsized to a Pdealtrain Mini though... -
I've been looking at some line 6 Combo's/Heads ,which have adjustable effects . On their website . Are these any good? I was wondering if these would do somebody, who wants to travel light, not have to worry about losing the bottom end,and use effects sparingly for a couple of songs in their live set. Looks like they wouldn't be fiddly like effects units, and saves all the faffing around. Or is the quality ,not very good? What do you think people?
I've used Line 6 combos a couple of times in studios... I didn't like the amp simulations (including overdrive) but I thought the filter, octave and chorus were excellent... I wouldn't go for this kind of thing though... What would you use to rehearse in a studio, or when you're gigging and the venue/another bassist supplies the bass amp? You'd have to get a multifx or pedals for that anyway... If effects are of that little importance to you and you want to travel light, you'd do better to get a really good amp or combo and buy a Zoom or a Floor POD...

Anything Wrong With Running 2 VXL Bass Attacks?
1976fenderhead replied to Phaedrus's topic in Effects
It's a shame there's no dedicated volume knob for the distortion channel of the VXL, you might be ok with 1 pedal only! -
This was the worst nightmare of an upgrade I've ever experienced. The problem is that once it has started it has wiped the M9's original firmware and therefore renders the machine unusable (impossible to even do a factory reset) until the update has completed successfully. Line 6 support is by forum posting and not very impressive. We managed to update both mine and Burno's M9's in the end but overall it had probably taken 6 to 7 hours of testing with no definitive answer as to why it finally worked. I won't be in a hurry to upgrade it again !
I feel for you, being in that awful situation with a Line 6 product. Line 6's support is appalling/non-existent. Every serious problem I had with POD Farm or Toneport was solved by myself after many hours trailing the web for answers, while a post on their forums would bear no results what-so-ever. You can call them direct? That's news! I doubt you'd get any results from that though...

Has anyone tried the T-Rex Sweeper stereo bass chorus?
1976fenderhead replied to 1976fenderhead's topic in Effects
I've been looking for a low-priced decent bass chorus for a while. The Artec & Biyang budget products appeal, but I just came across this T-Rex Sweeper on MusicStore today, and the price doesn't seem too bad: http://www.musicstore.com/en_EN/IEP/T-REX-...-BAS0003605-000 Dearer than the budget products, but could be worth it? Have you had any joy finding one, 1976fenderhead? Mark
Not really... I actually downsized to a Pedaltrain Mini and bought an EBS UniChorus so I have a chorus and a (sort of) flanger taking up the space of 1 pedal only. I'd still love to try this though. That's a good price. -
Yeah I do really want it actually, but I can't justify spending yet more money on gear right now. Its a good price as well, someone please take this off his hands before I lose my discipline! Have a little bump on me anyways.
Thanks! TU-2 sold, BF-2B awaiting payment. MXR Stereo Chorus and Rocktron Hypnotic Flange still available. -
Rocktron Hypnotic Flange - SOLD. ALL SOLD!

TU-2 and BF-2B sold pending the usual. Looking like it will only be the MXR and the Rocktron left. Come on guys, at least the MXR, it's an AWESOME chorus for bass, I can't believe I'll have to put it on eBay for another (ugh) g****rist to take, this pedal MUST continue in the hands of a bassist! It's a crime so many bassists have no idea how good this pedal is on bass!!!! Both pedals going on eBay this weekend if no-one here takes them. -
maplins?? do they have to be white...you may find some bits of rubbery material whereby you could make them up yourself even a piece of eraser
Can't find them on maplins... Well they're used everywhere and they always look the same so they must be made somewhere and sold somewhere for those companies to use them no?
Chill out ladies, it's only a volume pedal. I use the Boss FV-50, I like it a lot. Silent operation, nice taper, stereo, and it's got a handy tuner output too.
Totally off topic, but man, that's a great quote you have on your sig :-D !

Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!
1976fenderhead replied to dudewheresmybass's topic in Effects
Gone mini! As a consequence, 4 pedals on the For Sale section! Apart from those on this pedalboard, I'll only be left with a Cry Baby 105q and an Ernie Ball VP Jr to use by the side of this board on special gigs ;-) And a Zoom Ultra Fuzz just because it's awesome! -
I've decided to downsize my pedalboard to a Pedaltrain Mini due to frequent gigs in central London where parking a car is unthinkable. Hence, the following is for sale: Rocktron Hypnotic Flange - £60 shipped (MINT, with box and instructions) My favourite flange on distorted bass. The special feature of this pedal is the mix knob, which is what keeps the effect from being overkill when after distortion. Also sounds great on clean bass. It's analogue and the sweep is quite unique in that the speed going up is different than going down, which gives it an even more organic character. (SOLD: TU-2, BF-2B, MXR Stereo Chorus, Diago 18v converter, 6 patch cables.) Rocktron pedal has velcro on but I can put the feet back if the buyer so wishes. The feet will be sent with the pedal regardless. I can meet buyers in London and so the price will reflect the savings in postage. I'll consider trades for a rugged (not Behringer) bass DI/preamp such as Sansamp Bass Driver, Hartke Bass Attack, Aphex Bass Exciter, MXR M-80, etc. OR a loop pedal like a Loop Station, etc. Let me know if you want to see more pictures of anything in specific, different angles, etc, I'll try to find time for that! Thx for looking!
I have 2 EB Jr's 25k and 250k both are excellent but the 250k has the smoother taper even with active basses. Cheers
I have the 250k one and it always worked brilliantly and evenly with both my old 9v USA jazz Deluxe and with my new 18v one too. I wonder if I'd notice any improvement with the 25k one, but I can't imagine what could possibly be improved! I'm now using the switch in the up position for total evenness but have used it in the down position at times too...
