1. FOR SALE is my teal green Fender American Deluxe Jazz, 4 strings, 2000 serial number. I bought it new in 2002 and have been the sole owner since. The body is ash and the fretboard is rosewood. The bass looks a bit blue in some of these pictures, it's greener in real life! The pickguard is mint green, so they call it, but it's pretty much white with a tiny, tiny hint of green. Active electronics, uses a 9v battery (included). The strings can be strung through the body or like on a normal bridge as desired. I always baby my stuff so it's in excellent condition, with only the usual superficial scratches here and there and the tiny knocks on the headstock. I've photographed what I think are the deeper scratches(2 pics): there are 2 scratches on the back of the body where the belt touches that look like scratches done by strings, and there's a tiny dent on the contoured edge where your right arm rests. The bass will come in the original hard case with all the other stuff that came with it (documentation, sticker, strap, strap locks, truss rod wrench, bridge saddle wrench) except the Fender cable that I no longer have. If posted, it will go inside a proper cardboard box from another Fender bass, so it will be shipped with the same protection they are shipped from factory! The strings presently on it are Warwick Yellow Label. The hard case, made by SKB, is a bit deformed on the wider area due to once being too close to my car's heating on a long trip years ago! It has no effect on its use and there were no consequences whatsoever to the bass! I live in East London (E11) and can arrange for viewings. If the buyer picks it up, all the better and it will reflect positively in the price. Looking to get £750. This bass will go on eBay in just a few days if I don't sell it here, so act now if you're interested :-) Thanks for looking! UPDATE REGARDING TRADES: If you want to propose a trade instead of buying it, I'd only be interested in a cheap back-up bass (thinking about a Squier Precision, Precision Special, cheap Mexican Fender, might consider Spector Legend, Warwick Rockbass, that kind of thing) so I'd take that + £££. Also considering getting a Pedaltrain 2 so that would be another option, but that's about it. Thanks
 2.
It's not to bad really, but I eventually had flightcases made for my PT Jr's and then eventually bought the HC version of it. Personally if my board is worth any considerable money I'd always get the hardcase
Do you feel it's a lot heavier with the hard case? I'm tired of how heavy my Diago is, looking for a lighter option...
 3. Hi guys, could you tell me if when carrying the bag with the pedalboard in it, does the bag's interior touch the knobs and change the settings you had them in? I have a bass synth (with sliders) and a pedal with a bunch of chicken-head knobs and I'm wondering whether it will mess up my settings (so then I'd have to write them down somewhere and set them correctly every time I used the pedals)? Cheers!
 4. Any online shop selling them?
 5. I love my 105q but it sucks so much tone I decided to get it in a looper... unless if I find a similar bass wah that doesn't suck tone! And no toe switch and no giant footprint. Does it exist?
 6.
Hi all! I'm looking to expand my pedal collection a little, and was wondering if any of you could help. I'm the bass player of an alt/rock trio, and therefore I'm looking to make my bass sound as meaty and fat, without losing any tone or clarity. After taking a look at the MXR Stereo Chorus Pedal, I'm considering buying it, but just wondering if anyone here has had any experiences with it, and whether or not it's worthwile purchase? Obviously it's all dependant on what genre of music you're playing in, but I would be putting either an ODB-3 or a Big Muff through it. Cheers, Griff x
That's the pedal I settled for when I was doing my Death From Above 1979 kind of project (just bass + drums). After testing loads of chorus pedals, that was the right one. I used a Zoom Ultra Fuzz through it and both pedals were on all the time, that was my tone. I don't use it much now but it's still the chorus on my board, I'm curious to try the new T-Rex Bass Sweeper but apart from that possibility I wouldn't replace it with any other.
 7.
you got it steve i hope fenderhead reads this and stops giving himself aggro with water based cleaners first the white spirit..spirit bassed..as we all are then the wash up to tidy away any smears and smells cheers steve geof
Hmm the missus is a painter/sculptor and strongly advised against white spirit, and I remember when I was a kid I used to make airplane models and white spirit would completely flatten the details in the plastic... I will try next a less diluted amount of washup liquid on the remaining bits, then will mix it with vinegar if still not good enough and see how that goes.
 8. Thanks, I tried wash up liquid and it didn't even touch it, window cleaner and A LOT of effort worked, apart from around the pickups and neck joint, hard to reach and even using a cotton bud to reach it and rubbing really hard I couldn't get it off... Will try some other suggestions there later... That's some pretty nasty glue right there!
 9. I just got a new Fender and when I removed the protective film over the pickguard, it left this thin wavy-patterned transparent layer of glue over most of it that I just can't get rid of with guitar polish. It just grabs the fibres from cloths and makes it worse, I then have to rub it with the skin of my finger to remove those fibres. Also tried soapy water on a tiny portion with a cotton bud just for testing and didn't work. What can I use that won't damage the plastic and the bass's finish?
 10.
Just a question - would it be easier to buy one from a shop rather than an internet outlet? The shops tend to pick out the prettiest ones and send back the dogs so you dont have to.
Not really. First of, it would be much more expensive. The cheapest internet store in the UK I found sells it for about £110 more than Thomman. Physical shops only pricematch other physical shops so I'd pay even more. Secondly, They'd have to order it (I haven't found one that had it in stock). So I'd wait a week anyway, like I did, and they'd present me with the one they received, whether that was a dog or not. Then they'd resist me exchanging it because it's just a feature of the wood. Internet stores never really resist these things, probably because the person answering the phone doesn't have a clue and won't be arguing with you. So if it was a common bass and they had hopefully more than one in the store, you might be wrong. If they're ordering, I can do the whole process myself and save money.
 11.
Well I've found here some in the UK al different colours and also ebony; http://www.axminster.co.uk/product-Rustins...d-Dye-23110.htm
So any ebony-colour dye will do? It doesn't have to be specially resilient to endure the strings rubbing on it or something?
 12.
there are also some fretboard darkners for ebony you can buy like this one http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Finishing_supp...oard_Stain.html .
That's a great tip, thanks. Wonder if I can find that in the UK? If the one that comes still looks bad, I might go that route!
 13.
true...but warwick make a big thing about the wood they use in construction. i'd hope that would extend to the cosmetic as well as sonic considerations. spesh as i'm thinking of a custom fortress as a treat for my 40th !!
Well, I've found this picture: http://www.privatereserveguitars.com/Warwi...1324649.guitars And this one: http://www.warwick.de/media/news_images/00...%20fretless.jpg And this one (ouch): [url="http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l267/eastcoasteddie/basses/DSC_7769.jpg&imgrefurl=http://forum.warwick.de/17-warwick-rockbasses/9440-alright-new-guy-house.html&usg=__WdIlxp6uZ16QrST163hWQBrYFis=&h=798&w=309&sz=67&hl=en&start=1&sig2=Kle4gid00zvMHmkb24Rmgw&tbnid=6uRcTGlb7w8x_M:&tbnh=143&tbnw=55&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dwarwick%2Btiger%2Bebony%26gbv%3D2%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Dactive%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US%3a%6ffficial%26sa%3DG&ei=u3WFStmmJOWSjAe3_6yiCw"]http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h...mJOWSjAe3_6yiCw Still, all those look better than mine because you can clearly see it's a wood feature. Mine is all dark with that one weird thing that looks like it doesn't belong...
 14.
Nothing is good or bad only thinking that makes it so
Well it's obviously not BAD but it looks bad! Could look better! It's a lottery really :-p
 15.
If the wood is suitable for a fretless bass as either ebony or wenge should be there's two ways of looking at it. It's either a flaw or a feature, personally I'd go for the latter. Peter
True, but I'd be ok with it if it had loads of those stains that looked natural or something, like I've seen in other pictures... It's just that the whole thing is evenly dark and then there's that one nasty thing there...
 16. After posting at Warwick, it seems it really may be tiger stripe ebony!!!! And check this out: the bass I got is the on they photographed for the website: http://www.thomann.de/gb/warwick_corvette_standard_fl_02.htm Other Warwicks with the same wood fingerboard don't show any such stains in their pictures though!
 17.
well, that's good news, but you'd think they'd have looked at the wood and realised that it wasn't the prettiest bit of lumber they could have used.
Definitely, I expected more care being put into what cuts of wood to use!
 18.
That's a really weird looking piece of wenge. It tends to be very evenly coloured, with consistent lighter/darker stripes in the grain itself. Has it been bleached by the sun or some chemical? Alex
That's an interesting possibility. It sure isn't as reflective of light on the stain. Maybe some chemical bleached it after oil had been applied?
 19.
I don't really see the big problem, wenge isn't completely black/dark like ebony.
I've personally never seen a single fretboard that looked as bad as this new, fretted or fretless! If this is the way wenge is, then it's not a good choice for fretboards. Warwick sure puts a lot more quality control into their pictures then they do into the basses they send to sell, because they all look fine on their website! And on Thomann's website!
 20.
Is this the tiger stripe ebony? I've seen some with striations in the TS type but not one that looks as 'unique' as this. If you don't like it send it back, on buying a new bass in my view cosmetics are a valid reason for rejection.
No, it's wenge. yeah, exchanging it back.
 21.
Ouch Yeah i agree, my fretless looks similar to that, but the whole board where the fretted areas are. It has been in coinstant use for around 2 years or more though.
Really? But isn't dark brown the natural colour of it? If it gets worn, shouldn't it continue to be dark brown? Or is it coloured in anyway? I've arranged for exchange, they didn't cause any problems, yet at least, waiting for courier pickup details... I'm so bloody unlucky, when I got my Fender American Deluxe Jazz seven years ago I had to return 2 basses until I got a decent one! One had a bridge so misplaced to the side that the G string was not over the fretboard where it joins the body, and the second one was clearly an ex-demo, full of scratches and dents...! Different shops (and countries) though...
 22. A new Warwick has just arrived from Germany and I was a quite disappointed when I saw the fingerboard (see picture attached). It has a huge lighter stain under the first frets of the G string... Is this normal or frequent? I never saw a fretless fingerboard looking like this! Thinking of exchanging it back but are these imperfections the rule rather than the exception in wenge? Am I likely to get another imperfect one? It's merely an aesthetic thing btw, it feels fine to touch, just looks like cr*p.
 23. Please suggest... (also posted on the tech forum but that doesn't get a lot of visits I think)... Thanks!
 24. I tried a fretless Canyon 2 this week and loved it. It sounded better than a fretless Yamaha for example. I'm seriously considering buying it, will return soon and try the fretted Canyon 3 they also had to see if the different wood makes any difference to sound. I only played for very few minutes, I'd say tone-wise it didn't sound as good as Warwick, definitely not as good as the AWESOME Spector they had there going for more than 2 grand second hand (which is now probably the best-sounding bass I ever played in my life, putting Warwick to shame) but it did sound good! I'd say maybe at the level of Ibanez but I think slightly better! Build seemed flawless, it's through-neck has great access to high notes and looks good! Downsides I'd say it's very unbalanced, too heavy on the neck, I want to play for longer to see if I get a feel that it will be too tiring to play for long periods, and I read it eats batteries. And I never heard of East River pickups, probably rubbish?
