1. i am well mixed up, was learning bass, had maybe 8 lessons or more and was starting to play odd songs, octaves, scales and getting to the point i could work out the odd song and i got bored, in july and stopped dead, sold my basses bar one, sold my amps, bought a electric guitar, gave up after 2 weeks , started drums, had 8 lessons and going really well ...but being listening to the spinners, il be around, ub40 dont break my heart and i want to start bass again, my teacher teaches both but i am confused, long term clinical depression does not help, but i need to play songs, grooves i like else boredom sneaks in, drums is great but the bass gives more dimension, i feel i have wasted ayear or so again, but have good timeing, counting etc i am i too mixed up, miss the bass so much, grr so unsure on what to do

3. Hi, A guy came to look at my fretless 5 string today but decided not to buy as felt could not get it in tune, especially the higher he went. He was a really nice guy but said he had been playing the same bass for 20 years so maybe a fretless is not for him or could be a problem with the bass.Tried tuning on a mobile for ages making adjustments but was not happy when moved an octave on.Worried about this i took the bass to a luthier close to me who had a look for me, he was really impressed with it, really straight neck, condition and said the setup looked fine after slight adjustmets.Only thing he said was out, was the saddle, especially on the D string and another string was slapping a wee bit on the ramp so adjusted that string as well. tuned the strings and he said sounded spot on. glad as i nearly gave it away. Guy who came was not experienced in playing a fretless but from what i have read, is it a case of fingering the fret board when playing to hear the right notes rather than playing exactly the middle of each fret expecting it to sound perfect etc? Anyone have good experience of playing one? .

10. Hi, i have had half a dozen lessons so far which has improved my playing and rhythm no end. learning loads scales, appegios and all the other stuff to get a much better understanding. this has allowed me to understand a bit of theory and i can pick up tabs a thousand times quicker, Tonight i looked up sail away, deep purple, and manged to learn the bass tab fairly quickly and play it (not at full speed). after about 20 minutes i think i got over excited with my progress and suddenly my right arm was not moving to each string, i was plucking the wrong strings, missing notes etc and went to pot? i think i played it at about 3/4 speed and practiced for about 1.5 hours, no improvement? does anyone else ever have or had problems like this ever?, am i trying to play it too fast etc?
11. i agree with Tuco, go for it, you dont have to bow down to people who turn there nose up at you, or want the business from your music for free. each to his own

traded a bass with graham, a real pleasure to do business, thanks Graham!!
13. i saw a double bass b stock that the sides and back had fallen off along with other probs, they should have sold as "kit"
14. i bought them when i started but they did not stay on and i thought they were pointless unless i was just gonna stare at my bass. A bit like putting a sticker for clutch, brake, accelerator etc, you cannot really see them and its more of a distraction, and slows down learning

Impedance 4 Ohm immaculate, includes flight case £300 - or trade for jazz bass or similar, Spennymoor DL16 based Can deliver in North East (within reason) sale includes flight case
16. bought in january, as new - testing the water to see if any interest 5 string fretless, just have not used it hairline scratches to black plastic back plate (all guitars seem to come like this) based in county Durham, can post but case/postage extra open to trades or offers -set of new unopened la bella flats included
17. i have just spend 1600 on a Rik and i can only play teenage kicks, but i look the part
18. the ABM 4/10 has never been used, a,s new, the mag 2/10 was bought from cash coverters for £90, its got a brand new cone and speaker in one side after my kid put a pen through it. i detected a very slight tremor or rattle when this is hooked up to the 4/10 but slight and may be something to do with how i set them up with the amp head. the 410 is spot on. This will have to be collection from Spennymoor Durham as too heavy to send unless someone wants to pay for courier. i have this and my other stuff on fleabay but prefer a sale on here due to the trust factor, would consider trade for double bass (rockabilly style) along with my JJ burnel amp head. the 410 is on top of the 210 in the photo but this was just for photo purposes
19. Tudhoe, near spennymoor DL16 pm me if want to take a look thx

I bought this from about a year ago from a guy but have never used it, just tested it. I don't have the room and my eyesight is failing so am struggling.includes amp case which was around £100 info from Ashdown: Suitably equipped instruments can be plugged in via a balanced, low impedance XLR input for the ultimate low-noise connection, with a conventional jack provided to accommodate standard instruments. The optimum input level is set by an input gain control, operated in conjunction with a classic, illuminated Ashdown VU meter. Precision tone shaping comes courtesy of a 12-band graphic equalizer, which can be switched in and out from the front panel. Unique to Ashdown Labs is a revolutionary Harmonic Emphasis circuit that actually synthesizes new harmonics which combine with the originals under variable level control to create a stunning extra top-end ‘zing’ – like permanently playing with new strings. The balanced DI output on the front panel can be switched pre and post EQ, and a tuner output with mute switch is provided for silent tuning. The massive, shielded toroidal transformer is custom designed for the Ashdown JJ-500 and ensures a continuous, regulated supply to power huge transients across a wide frequency response.
