1. For sale, my Limelight Precision in Fiesta Red. Had this built earlier this year in April - it's absolutely fantastic, but it needs to go as I'm having to buy a new car. Will be sad to see this go, but needs must. Bass is in perfect (albeit roadworn!) condition. Fitted with Thomastik Flatwounds, it sounds incredible and is a delight to play. Specs: 1962 Precision in Fiesta Red over desert sand Rosewood Fretboard with Clay dots P width neck Hand rolled finger board edges Aged nitro finish on the neck Red Tortoiseshell scratchplate Reverse Gotoh tuners Aged finish in nitro- cellulose, very lightly reliced Tarnished metal work (but not rusty) Hootenanny button on the back of the headstock Alder body Alnico pick ups Vintage wired CTS pots and Spraque cap Switchcraft Jack The bass is in a Thomann hard case, which is in excellent condition (the bass has only left the house once!). No trades thanks, need to free up the cash sadly. Bass is in Norwich, I can deliver within reasonable distance or arrange a courier etc. UK sale only, thanks. Any questions, just pop me a message. Also, I have a feedback thread going so you can check that too. Cash on collection/delivery by me, or bank transfer. Will consider PayPal if you've got a feedback thread on here though! Will try and add photos now, but if they don't work I'll make sure they're up tonight. There are some photos on the Show Us Your Limelight thread in the "gear porn" section though :-)
2.
Anyone give me an idea on what the limelight relics cost? Say a 65 Jazz Bass, orange with white undercoat and a few worn patches showing underlying wood. Fender Decal on headstock. Thanks
Drop Mark a message : [email protected] He'll soon let you know what the cost will be.
3. Just sold my Status neck to ipg, immediate payment and no fuss, deal with confidence. Cheers ipg!
4. For sale, my Status fretless lined neck for 4 string Musicman. Bought around a year ago, fitted by Status to my Musicman, but haven't really got into playing fretless so I've barely used it. It's a fantastic bit of kit, but not getting the use it deserves. My bass has been strung with flats, so there's very little wear on the neck. I'd guess I've played for around 10 hours on it in total! Cost £360, looking for £220 posted. Will get some photos up in the next day or so. Please note, this is the neck only and doesn't include tuning keys etc.
5.
Looks great Fred I played one just like it a few years back. It had a slimmer, narrower neck than most other P's And it was just awesome. It was also for sale at that time, and I needed to sell another before buying... ... I'm still sorely disappointed I let that one go! I'm jealous now lol
Get yourself one ordered, Marc ;-)
6. It's arrived! Amazing how old it looks in the "flesh" - Mark has done a cracking job! Will have a proper play later, but intial thoughts are - it's extremely resonant, feels like it's been well played in as you'd expect. The pickup is "hotter" than that of my Roadworn P, and sounds terrific. Neck isn't as wide, but is chunkier than my RW, but very comfortable as well. It's got real character. Will give it a full volume run out with my band next week. All in all, very, very happy. 🙂
7.
I'll be at the Brixton gig too. Any more for that one?
Yep, I'm going to Brixton. Can't wait to see them - had tickets a couple of years ago to see them in the UK but couldn't go due to breaking my wrist the day before the gig - so hoping to make it this year!
8. Just heard from Mark, my Limelight (no.199) is ready! Looks great, apparently the close up body/pickguard photo is the most accurate indication of the true colour. Will post some more photos up once it arrives! Can't wait :-)
9. I've got a roadworn sunburst one, with Infeld flatwounds. I've barely picked up any of my other basses since buying it a year or so ago....
10. Just bought OHM's Darkglass Vintage Microtubes. Easy and pleasant transaction and the goods were delivered well packed and protected. Cheers Nick!
11. Stuart Zender on Jamiroquai's Emergency On Planet Earth. THE album which got me playing bass.
12. Jimi Hendrix - Like A Rolling Stone (on the live at Monterey album)
13. In the covers band I was in last, it was always Bohemian Like You by The Dandy Warhols, or occasionally Rock and Roll Star by Oasis. Kinda set out the stall for the sort of music we played.
14. And another vote for the Scarlett 2i2 here as well. I'm a compete technical dunce, and found it super easy to get up and running :-)
15.
Can you bee cool with a bassface?. You like?
On that note - this: https://youtu.be/rSS4j6zUJgQ 😊
16.
Personally I can't imagine how this utter pile of tripe got made, released and even sold enough to get into the charts https://youtu.be/1LaY1qXt9K4
Good grief, I'd forgotten about that. Utterly horrific. This would get my vote: https://youtu.be/WTAg7aolyCY
17. Having been gassing for a fiesta red/tort precision for over a year, I've just ordered a "Pino" style '62 with very light relic from Mark. 12 weeks quoted, might be faster - photos to follow as soon as it's here. I've got a sunburst road worn 50s Precision already so it'll be interesting to compare them. Can't wait!
18.
Fx pedals have the input and output on the wrong sides. Input should be on left, out on right.
This!
19. I've owned an SR5 and currently own a Ray35. The Ray35 is a fantastic bass - but it's not quite there in terms of sound against an SR5, in my opinion. My Ray35 is lighter than my SR5 was, and is fantastic to play. Sound wise, I'd say the Ray35 is 75% of an SR5, but doesn't quite have the full bite of an SR5. Again, only my opinion. If you're able to try both, then definitely do. YMMV.
20.
Tried to look at the pics but they took me to a scam competition page with the back button disabled so I just got caught in a loop I've seen this a few times with Photobucket recently.
Had the same problem here.....
21. I'd recommend Thomastik Infeld JF344 Jazz flatwound. Not the cheapest to buy, but I love how they feel and sound personally. Perfect on my Precision.
22. Awesome, bought one for me and one for each of my guitarists. They'll probably buy me a pint each in return, so a great investment!
