1. New (reunited) bass day 1 of 2: Here is my 2013 model Fender American Standard Jazz Bass that I originally bought brand new back in December 2013 and having only really used it as a studio bass, I naively chose to sell it on in October 2014. Thankfully Nick (Old Horse Murphy) contacted me earlier this month and very kindly offered me first refusal to buy it back. I didn't hesitate, it's a superb bass and I'm extremely pleased to have it back... My second acquisition is due later on today... I'm quite excited
2. I bought a Markbass Compressore in the end - waiting for it to arrive now... I'll have a good play around but I've been experimenting with using light finger plucking while also using an EBow so I feel like I definitely need some sort of compressor/limiter to prevent the EBow sounds overbearing the finger plucked loops... only time will tell once it's here
3. I reckon you should keep it mate! For me you can't beat the the new design U.S. Standard Fender Jazz Basses
4. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.... Interesting!!! How are you finding your Jazz? Looks a beaut!
5. Would you have to carve up the bass at all to get a pre-amp into it? I'm sure Fender could do the 60s versions for the 5!
6.
They come as stock in new USA standard jazz basses but mine doesn't have them as the five string version doesn't get them
Yes that's out of order really isn't it? My 4 sounds awesome with them. Have you thought about the Aguilar hum cancelling pickups as replacements?
7. ...bought back the 2013 Fender Jazz Bass I sold to Nick last month! Super fast delivery, and as usual, great communication once again... I'm so pleased I have this bass back!
8. Sold my 2013 Fender Jazz Bass to Nick. Super fast payment and great communication throughout.
9. +1 with ambient. Loved it.
10. Ambient messaged me a rather superb resource... http://www.ovnilab.com/
11. What recommendations do you guys have?
12. In December 2013 I went into Absolute Music in Poole and bought a new 2013 US Standard Fender Jazz that they had there in stock - I didn't really think too much about it at the time, it was pretty nice and was probably the best Jazz Bass they had in there in my opinion - then I sold it last month and really started to miss it. Thankfully, I've since been able to buy it back from the gent that bought it from me... Anyway, I went back into Absolute Music this morning just to have a look around and they have three brand new US Standard Fender Jazz Basses in stock, a sunburst exactly like mine, a white one and a red one. Truthfully, none of them are a patch on the one I've got. I really can't believe that the differences between the basses could be so vast considering they are all the same models! Massive, massive contrast. In short, I'd suggest either looking and trying as many basses as you can until you find a beauty or, as others have said, contact ACG or another custom builder. Nice problem to have though - deciding where to spend £1500.
13. I'm after some of these - AG 6J-HC - Apparently superb - expensive though http://www.aguilaramp.com/products_pickups_AGJHC.htm
14. Very nice.
15. Hi Molan - you got a spare 3 then? And have you guys got one any of the AG 6J-HC pickups? http://www.aguilaramp.com/products_pickups_AGJHC.htm
16. I like it unmastered personally
17. I've got a bass that that requires some mods - anybody got some recommendations?
18. Anyone used them here? any good?
19. ACG do their versions of those Gwizdala/Garrison 24/26 fret, 33 inch scale, single cut, 17.5mm bridge spacing basses and they're a fraction of the price...
20. What you ordering?
21. Wow great looking bass.
22. Gutted it got blowtorched - I've been after one of these for about a year now. I've seen three P bass versions but not one jazz.
23. Bournemouth - I could try a local luthier but didn't know if there was anyone on here that specialises in stuff and has a good reputation.
24. Anybody know a contact who can make me a nut - it would be for a 5 string bass requiring EADGC tuning.
25. Hm those standards look interesting - and very good value too.
