  1. 2 x Barefaced Super Midget 12"s it is then Bill. Thanks a lot for your assistance on this.
  2. I understand Bill - thanks a lot for your input here. I am starting to lean toward two Barefaced ONE 10s or even two Super Midget 12s now given the weight. Is this any good in your opinion? https://www.eich-amps.com/110xs
  3. Are there any 1x10s you’d recommend Bill?
  4. I've hit up Barefaced now. I'll see how that goes - thanks folks.
  5. I do yes - one cabinet is to my right and the other cabinet is to the left of the drummer. I use a ping-pong delay effect a fair amount so it is quite noticeable live. It’s not all real loud like that - here is a much quieter excerpt. IMG_1793.MP4
  6. I know this won’t be to people’s taste but here is a snippet of what we do - this is a louder section of course - it’s a low B/fifth/octave through two delay pedals, a reverb and a bass distortion. I play in stereo with two Trickfish Bullhead 1Ks that each drive one Trickfish TF112 cabinet each. Amazing equipment but I just don’t think two 1x10s will be able to get close to what I need. 7. Hmm interesting Si - thanks for this. Sorry for being a dummy but I guess you can run your pure amp 800 without a preamp if you wanted to? Just no bass/treble/high mid/low mid control right?
  8. Real nice set up. I like the power brick too. I’ve got a Strymon Ojai which is too tall of course. so is the GRBass Preamp 800 just a power amp then?
  9. Really nice bass. I’ve been looking for a six-string version for years now.
  10. This highlights how poor my understanding is so thanks a lot for your input. So if the crucial frequencies are double the fundamentals meaning a low B is 62Hz, do you think a 1x10" (and the TF110 specifically having a frequency response of 50Hz - 18.4kHz) will handle the low B okay? Ultimately, I confess that I think I'm going to have to plan a trip to some place and try a couple out.
  11. I do get you - it's the weight and awkward shape of the 12s though - my shoulders are shot.
  12. Thanks a lot Bill - you've been real helpful mate. I use a six-string so considering the low B is around 31hHz and the TF110 handles lows of 50Hz whereas the TF112 handles lows of 35Hz, I think I'm asking the impossible.
  13. Post something on their Facebook, Twitter, Instagram pages if they're not responding at all?
  14. Thanks a lot for your help folks. I really appreciate it. I use two Trickfish Bullhead 1K heads that drive two Trickfish TF112 cabinets (I play in stereo) and would really like to switch to two Trickfish TF110 cabinets. I got this from their web site but I'm not knowledgeable enough to know how this really translates with volume, etc. TF112 Specifications: https://www.trickfishamps.com/cabinets/tf112/ 1 x 12” proprietary Neodymium speaker built by Eminence® HF driver (3500-20,000 Hz) 80° conical horn 300 watts peak handling Custom crossover with peak protection and HF Attenuation 2 x NL2 Combo connectors Baltic Birch Dado and Rabbet Joint Construction 8 ohms Freq. 15. Thanks a lot. Unfortunately not what I wanted to read but what I expected frankly. I was hoping to switch out my two 1x12”s with two 1x10s due to size/weight but given I play post-rock and it gets loud in places I just don’t think I’m going to be able to do that.
  16. What are the main differences between 1x10” cabinets and 1x12” cabinets folks? And would you say a 1x10” cabinet can produce 50%, 60%, 70%, 80% of the volume that a 1x12” cabinet can deliver?
  17. Some brilliant stories here! A mate of a mate needed a bass player for his band at school so I lied and said I could play bass a little bit - I got a cheap Jazz knock off, played along to Definitely Maybe and muddled through the first few meet ups. In hindsight, none of us were particularly good so I blended in just fine.
  18. I used a Tone Hammer with two SL112s - I liked them a lot - nice and light of course but they definitely have an "Aguilar" sound. Frankly I don't think you can go wrong with them overall. For what you need, I think it depends on how loud your band play and whether you all go through the PA, etc., etc. To play safe, I'd say a TH500 driving two SL112s will cover you. I haven't used this myself but I saw some new GRBass equipment at NAMM that is VERY light - the GRBass 1x12 cabinet weighs 7.5kg whereas Aguilar's SL112 weighs 11.34kg.
  19. I tried out for an originals band a few years ago - I'm reasonable ability wise and I learned all their songs, wrote/prepared basslines and played along to their CD for a couple of weeks. I'm also very, very reliable, turn up to rehearsals and gigs on time, have my own transport, have good equipment and I do what I say. The audition went really well - good feel, no bum notes, etc., etc. They tried out another guy at the same time - I knew him well - he was a very, very good natural bassist. But I also knew he had a reputation of being very flakey. A week went by and I figured they probably went with the other guy but chased up anyway - I got a response from the band leader/singer - "I wanted to go with you, blah, blah, blah but we went with the other guy because the guitarist and drummer overruled me, etc." I responded and said I was disappointed because I really enjoyed playing with them and wished them all the best, etc. Then I got a text and email about a week later to say the other guy hadn't shown up to the two band rehearsals since the audition, wasn't responding to their messages and did I want to join. I politely declined - I didn't feel I was cutting my nose off to spite my face either - I figured I'd either be walking into a band where two of the three members didn't really want me there anyway or the band leader is a liar.
  20. And the first 50 seconds of this is so beautiful to my ears. It's pretty nice after that too but it gets a little too wacky for me towards the end.
  21. Most of the bass gymnastics music I hear is dreadful to my ears. Not crazy quick or mad playing but I absolutely love this by Rich Brown.

Is it any good for metal?
  23. I'd rather buy a secondhand US Standard Fender Jazz/Precision at this price point personally.
  24. I'd go with 'Dirt Box'
  25. EarthQuaker Devices V1 Avalanche Run Stereo Reverb & Delay with Tap Tempo. I am based in Bournemouth and any trial is welcome. If you have any questions, etc. please contact me.
