Hi all, So I've recently emigrated to the UK, and I need a tech that I can use for my basses (and gear in general) that is both inexpensive AND terrific. I live in Epping and work in the "Mile" and would prefer a London based person. Any suggestions? Locations? Cheers in advance.

The first bass player that caught my attention, way back in 1980 - the incomparable John Deacon. Quite possibly the most underrated bass player of them all, JD remained true to both the song, and to his own craft with melodic, driving, and oftentimes, intricate lines. But let's face it, who among us has not bobbed their heads to Another One Bites the Dust!!!! I'll take mine in 6 string sets please 😎

Thank you kindly Chris. My biggest issue at the moment is time management with work, family, exercise and the stupid traffic I contend with daily. I know it's not an excuse - and the lessons I have had have truly been invaluable, but for now I am pretty much a self-study guy (like it or not).... sigh... I guess I'm not doing much between 2 and 3 in the morning!

Hi fellow low end dwellers.... I've been playing for a long time now and while I know I can play, I really want to take my playing to the next level. I'd like some pointers on material/books/dvds etc that I should/could/must/can look at as a stepping stone... I want to start deep diving the following points: Jazz theory and reharmonisation (specific to bass) Speed and endurance How to play using scales, modes and chord tones without thinking about it and Slap - the elusive wow! factor Oh! And a proper daily practice routine from simple to Huh??? levels! I am serious about this. I have reached a plateau and I can't seem to break through despite the plethora of material I have accrued over the years. In advance, I thank you all kindly From Johannesburg, South Africa! OK - at last, the umpteenth iteration of my pedal board: Carl Martin Compressor > EBS Microbass II Peterson Strobostomp Tuner (through EMB2 tuner out) EMB2 effects loop: EBS Octave > MXR Bass Overdrive Deluxe > MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe > Aguilar Octamiser > MXR Stereo Chorus The MXR Stereo Chorus is always on - very light setting to add shimmer. I have the MXR BCD as a legit chorus. The EBS Octave does the double track, one octave down so well - 2 distinct notes. The Aguilar Octamiser is so damn good at that sub bass, almost dub thing - it is thunderous Now I just need a Pedaltrain 2 and I'm all set

I've also found the 2-octave down is kinda pointless - but again, that's just my thing. For what it's worth, I'm using the MXR Bass Octave Deluxe - and loving it!
