1. If we're doing photos, here is my new terror bass with my 71 & 83 P basses!
2. I'm a compulsive buyer and this is my fourth amp in 12 months! Whilst waiting for my replacement from AER I really needed a new combo and I really liked the look of these, I tried it in the shop and have been really impressed with it. It is quite a contrast to the AER being a valve amp and quite a bit heavier with its 2x12 inch speakers, but I love the warm sound it produces, particularly with my 71 P bass. In an ideal world I would keep both but economics dictates that something has to go (as does Mrs Anthony) and since I've only just bought the Orange it's the AER and the Orange is still a one handed lift, although quite a bit heavier and more cumbersome, I stand by my reviews of the amp one, it is great, I just have to keep on moving. Mrs Anthony is rather hoping that I hang onto the Orange for a while, but time will tell?...!,

4. Don't lust after that one, I've just about convinced the wife I need to keep it, lust after the status instead, that's what you want, some graphite lovin!
5. New price &750 I purchased an AER Amp one off basschat early this year which developed a fault a couple of months ago. I returned it to westside distribution in Glasgow who are the AER UK distributers and after a number of weeks of trying they were unable to identify the fault. AER should have just told me that I was unlucky and to buy a new amp (being the third owner of a six year old amp I couldn't have complained) but being the absolute best company in the world, AER have agreed to send me out a brand spanking new AER amp one instead (the new version with the foam grill) Whilst I have been waiting for my new amp one I have purchased an Orange TB500c which I have fallen in love with, so this is now surplus to requirements. These retail at £1050 and I'm selling for £850 with shipping negotiable. There is nothing that can touch these amps for power to weight ratio, and their customer services speak for themselves! The bass whisperer does a utube review of these (below) which Show how good these are, and there are various reviews on the web which say how great this is, they are not wrong! This is being shipped to me from Germany next week and I will put photos up once it arrives, and anyone is free to come and give it a go. This is 200 watt with a single SICA 10 inch speaker and weighs in at only 29 lbs with a very nice in built compressor, it will also have a brand new gig bag with it. Do not be fooled by this only having 200 watts anologue power with one 10 inch speaker, the sounds that this thing can make are immense! Check out the reviews, these are great. Check out the utube link below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_MiimcHKGQ
6. I'm interested to know abit about the science, what is the problem with the design vs science?
7. I think it's also important to accept that you will do all your research, get good quality advice from the kind community on basschat, make a careful studied purchase and buy the amp setup of your dreams, and you will be the happiest man on the planet, then in three months time you will want something else, don't fight it, don't beat yourself up about it, accept that the wife won't understand, don't resist, go with it, it's part of being a bass player!
8. Used this little beast for a gig in a medium sized bar last night and I am mightiy impressed!, i've heard some people say that they struggle to get a nice clean sound out of this, that it has a nice sound but full of dirt....but I found no problems getting a very clean, very warm, very loud sound, using a passive precision, I had to turn the gain right up to introduce the dirt. I'm not sure yet how it will get on with an active bass, I shall try it with my status and see how she performs. . Gain was on 6 and master volume on about 4 with just a little going through the PA. I was unconvinced about the technology involved in the 2x12 speaker set up, however i am now a believer, this has sooooo much bottom end it is quite ridiculous. My one slight gripe is that it is a little cumbersome, it weighs in at a little over 50 lbs, but as long as you don't have too far to go it's still a one handed carry, although I've been we'll spoint in that department with my amp one. This is expensive, but worth considering if your after a relatively small powerful combo, and it does look cool! (But it does have the handle on the top!) I've owned quite a lot of amp in my time, and this is one of the best sounding I have ever used, I always thought that the best sounding amp I had used was my SWR redhead, however that was silly heavy! Peavey bam sounded great but was even heavier. Mark bass CMD 102p was a good all rounder, powerful and light, but I always felt it sounded a little sterile. AER amp one, great little amp, powerful, light and great sounding (and the best customer care ever!) Mesa walkabout 12, great amp, warm, loud, powerful, bottom end, the benchmark, but very expensive Orange tb500c, It may be controversial but I would say this is a match for the mesa! It's a similar size, similar weight, probably a similar power when taking the class D power into consideration, maybe a little more bottom end with the 2x12 speakers, a little more cumbersome, and although the Orange is expensive, it's still a lot cheaper than the mesa when bought new, It may be because I currently have the Orange and its been a few years since I played through a walkabout, however I'm not sure theres much to choose between them.
9. I had to buy a new amp today as gig tonight and no amp! I sent my old AER amp one back to the manufactures due to a fault that they could not diagnose and they are sending me a brand spanking new one free of charge (even though I am the third owner and it is 6 years old!) which I will be selling on bass chat, if you like to look after your back this is the amp for you! Cost over £1000 new so this will be a bargain for someone!
10. Well I took the plunge and bought one of these from Hot Rox in Nottingham, great bloke to deal with, someone you can haggle with and actually do a deal with! I was a little worried that this was just going to be very gravelly and dirty, some of the reviews suggest that the sound breaks up quite easily, not in a bad way, but just a characteristic of the amp. However I found that I have been able to get some very nice clean sounds out of it, and LOADS of bottom end, having played around with it for an hour at home, I'm pretty impressed. Let's see how it's gets on tonight in brass monkey! Size and weight wise I would say it is very similar to a mesa walkabout, maybe a fraction heavier. I shall have a better idea about presence and volume after tonight, but I'm expecting the two 12 inch speakers to have some power!
11. I've been trying to find out about the Orange TB500c combo with the 2x12 speakers one behind the other, looks interesting, anyone played through one? They're pretty expensive so I'm expecting that they will have good and loud tone. I can't help but keep changing gear and I'm finding these tempting, light enough for a one handed lift and probably loud enough for most occasions! Thoughts would be appreciated. AER have been kind to replace my broken amp one with a brand spanking new one which I could be tempted to sell and get one of these.
12. Thanks to everyone for the very informative feedback, I think I shall give this a miss.
13. Im looking at an Eden metro on eBay, in the write he mentions that the speakers have been changed to 8ohm, please read below and tell me whether this is a good or bad thing he has done! I think I'm stupid! It is equipped with 2 brand new 8ohm Eminence delta 350w speakers meaning that the combo is uprated to run at 4 ohms. The amp head is designed to run down to 2 ohms where it will give 600 watts so at 4 ohms it gives around 375w and at 8 ohms around 250w. Running at 4 ohms means you get a fantastic one cab set up but can still add another 4 ohm cab to get up to 600w (if you should choose to hurt your audience). The roundness of the sound is really impressive with deeply penetrating bass tone that will cut through any mix.
14.
If the requirement is a smaller/lighter IP, does an AER amp one fit the bill? They're silly money, but from what I've read they have some of the DSP magic built in, similar to the IP?
I can vouch for the AER amp one, and if you see my thread on their customer service I don't think they can be beaten. You would not believe the power, volume and bottom end that come out of these tiny boxes. The only thing for me that could possibly beat an amp one for overall sound and portability would be the amp three (I'm yet to try one but the reviews give it the edge on the amp one). And yes, they are silly daft bonkers ridiculous nuts money, but you get what you pay for, a top quality amp with some kind of retro-fitted alien nuclear fusion technology, (otherwise known as German engineering!) and, of course the best in customer care.
15. I've just had confirmation from the guys at westside distribution in Glasgow that the replacement amp one has been posted out of Germany today! Hopefully arriving with me by the end of the week. It's took a while but what fantastic customer service this is. The only question now is do I sell my new new amp one on basschat for what would be a very reasonable price for a new amp and upgrade to the amp three, or do I stick with this delightful combo???????
16. Possibly, after 20 years of playing bass, I've never played a five string though so will have a think! I've done a Google search and these do look nice though, what's its spec? could you please send some photos to [email protected]
17. Just been having a play on both of these and they are a pair of beauties!
18. The P is very tidy indeed, like new. With any luck the precision is a time limited offer, I'm working on Mrs Anthony and I think she is coming around to me keeping the P...!, The status is a great instrument but it just doesn't suit when I'm playing, it's quite a modern sound and I need that old school P bass sound, hence I want to keep this P as a back up!
