  1. Still available?
  2. What a bass! Bargain too. Alas, not for me right now. All the best with the sale! Tobie
  3. Busy, musical bass playing is an integral part of contemporary American gospel music. Add Marvin Sapp, Israel Houghton, Fred Hammond, Darwin Hobbs, Mary Mary, William Mcdowell and Donald Lawrence to the artist list above and you have a good overview. Andrae Crouch is considered the trailblazer for the modern sound, so he definitely needs checking out too.
  4. I bought some tuners from Nick recently. Easy transaction, no issues. Cheers, Tobie
  5. I owned one and thought it was excellent. The build quality was very good indeed.
  6. Thanks for this lemmywinks. I didn't realise that, so will try the preamp change first. Cheers, Tobie
  7. Cheers for this lemmywinks. I mainly use the bass in passive mode anyway, but still not keen on the pups to be honest. I find them thin and unresponsive at the bottom end, with a perceptible 'popping' on the attack. Shame, because I think the highs are pretty good. Still love the bass overall anyway - amazing value. Dood and others, which in your experience are the most hi-fi out of the Delanos, Aguilars and Bart P2s? Thanks again, Tobie
  8. Cheers gents. I do like the Glock and Delano preamps that I've heard. Haven't seen Delano soapbars though - could be a gooden. Fine with the narrow spacing? Reasonable?
  9. I believe it is JTUK, but the pups are 'thin' in passive mode too so I'm inclined to cover all bases with a full overhaul. Any ideas for direct pup replacements that will fit the routes and the string-spacing, but won't break the bank? Cheers, Tobie
  10. Hi all, I'm considering upgrading the Bartolini MK1 pups and preamp on my Cort B5. I want more bottom end and greater articulation over all, but love the feel of the bass and its weight. The MK1s are 108mm x 34mm and the string spacing at the bridge is 16.5mm, so that discounts some pup replacement options. I use super light gauge Newtone nickel roundwounds, which are wonderful. My budget's £250. Any ideas? Cheers, Tobie
  11. I can recommend Richie Blake's teaching on music college tv on YouTube. In my estimation he is both a great technician and a gifted teacher and will get you started with technique and theory extremely well. All the best, Tobie
  12. I bought a gold anodized p bass pickguard from Jonathan recently. Excellent communications (discovered we went to the same school!) and the pickguard arrived quickly and exactly as described. Cheers, Tobie
  13. I got a solderless p bass loom and great quality black knobs from John quite recently. Communications, postage and packaging were excellent and the instructions and screwdriver much appreciated! Cheers, Tobie
  14. Norris bought a Yamaha fiver from me recently and the transaction couldn't have been more straightforward. Cheers, Tobie
  15. Yeah, I noticed - not ideal, but not the end of the world for me. It's a P neck I'm after.
  16. Cheers guys - sounds like a winner.
  17. Cheers bonzodog. Looking forward to hearing about these...
  18. Has anyone used one of these? Opinions?
  19. Great stuff. Cheers
  20. Has anyone bought a neck from Northwest Guitars? If so, any good? And how's the service? Cheers, Tobie
  21. Cheers Grangur. I'd rather not have to enlarge them if it's avoidable. Besides, the Hipshots seem to have a 14m diameter. Are there none that will drop in? I thought 18mm was pretty standard, but could be off the mark.
  22. No passive Dimension owners out there?
  23. These are the best rounds I have used. I will certainly stick with them. Tobie
  24. I'm looking for some really lightweight tuners (black, elephant-ear) for a project. The headstock holes are 18mm and I'm having trouble finding some that will fit. Any ideas anyone? Cheers, Tobie
  25. Unbelievable value! All the best with the sale. Tobie
