1. Doh this was meant for the ebay forum...sorry...mods please move. Ta Chris
2. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/fender-precision-bas...=item1e65216715 I'm a bit confused, this is a really nice looking precision however is it just me or is the second picture (the back of the headstock) a photo of a strat headstock - those dont look like the tuners or spacing of a P Bass headstock - convenient that thats the picture showing the serial number!! That, coupled with the 97% feedback sure puts me off. Any thoughts???
3. Never use parcelforce. Guitars are on their exemption list so if theres any loss or damage they won't compensate you. I got burned by them recently.
4. What we have here is an item that in terms of its functionality/form is the absolute pinnacle of its design (ie it is perfect for what it does and therefore would not ever need to be changed, improved or bettered) and some may say that that is PRICELESS
5. I actually agree with Wayne. Burst Ray's have never looked good to me, whereas give me a Jazz or a Precision in sunburst any day of the week.
6. Perhaps a bit of an obvious one but why not just swell into the notes using a volume pedal, something like a VP-Jr is pretty responsive and would work grand.
7. Letting us know the make/model will help. For example some manufacturers use recessed strap locks (I think Warwick did for a while).
8. Hi I am selling my Rothwell Audio Stompjuice power supply (see http://www.rothwellaudioproducts.co.uk/html/stompjuice.html), a great and highly regarded boutique made power supply. These have been so popular that they are currently unavailable except on the second hand market. £70 + PP. Any questions just ask.
9. For a functions band type situation the POD will be pretty good. Treat it like a swiss army knife; ie you'll find better sound individual effects but bang for the buck it'll get the job done well without shelling out a fortune or lugging a large pedalboard with you. My experience of the PODs (as well as my M9) is that they are great for delay, mod, reverb effects and not so hot on dists (fuzzes, etc included) and filters when it comes to bass (low end drop being the primary problem). If I were you i'd probably grab one, team it with a Bass Big Muff an OC-2 and a Q-Tron (or the like) and you'd be good to go for most functions type situations.
10. Yeah I was watching that Dolphin with interest. Such an incredible bass for a crazy price. If anyone is ever in the market to try a Warwick now's the time to buy. They wont stay mega cheap forever.
11.
Hi Has anyone out there tried any other pickup on a 4003, other than the Rick stock ones? I have a 2007 Blue Burst 4003 and I find that the output of the pickups seems really weak when compared to my other basses (Jazz Bass and Thunderbird). They are also fairly inconsistent across the strings, even after a decent set-up. For this reason I'm not really using the Rick at the minute, and always gig with one of the other two, which just doesn't seem fair on her!!! Was considering swapping the pickups for something with a bit more beef, like the Seymour Duncan pickups. If anyone has any experiance of these, or any other type of pickup please let me know as I'd like some opinions before shelling out £170.00. Thanks in advance.
This sounds very strange, I dare say there may be an underlying pickup issue. I have a Rickenbacker 4003 from 2009 and can tell you that the output is massive, far beyond anything that my other passive basses have to offer. My advice, which seems to be the same as others in the thread is put it in to a shop and have the pickups looked at and possibly rewound if necessary, it should be less than £170 for aftermarket replacements.
12. Yeah I know, I'm a sucker haha. I've been thinking about getting the stock Fender model and whacking on some flats, still might.
13. I'm gonna say it now. Fender should get their arse in gear and do a Colin Greenwood model based on his Olympic White P Bass, i'd be all over that. Just listening to King of Limbs again and I'm really loving his tone on that record in particular. Thats all really.
14. I like and Matt's a great bass player so respect but i'd rather have a Baby Pino
15. I didnt, just guess work based on the current values. I have a Corvette Standard which probably would fetch about £300 in the current market so I just worked back. Personally i love my Corevette and wont part with it for anything but I did I'd certainly be holding off until the values boosted again (as they will, these things are like swings and roundabouts).
16.
Hey all, Just wanted opinions on weather i should trade or keep my currents bass. I have a Warwick streamer standard 4 string 2001, and it produces one of the best sounds I have heard so far, used with my Roland cube 30watt. I don't know if I should trade for a bass the same value, Just to explore if there's a different bass to suit my style. I tend to play mostly rock, but I also enjoy funk, and I know warwicks tend to be used with funk. If I was to trade, I would tend to look into a vintage Fender Jazz, as I had a go on one the other day, and I fell in love with it. All opinions are appreciated
Keep Keep Keep If its a Streamer STD is will be the entry model into the range and with the current market you'd be lucky to get £200 - £250 for it. It is a much nicer instrument than the value suggests and if you trade it off cheap you may regret it in the long run. My advice is at least wait till the market picks up again for them or even better keep it and enjoy it!
17. BLUE BLUE BLUE...all the way. Pity you cant the the Blue with nordys and in semi-hollow config.
18. As an Big John Obama Wah owner all I can say is these are great pedals and I would highly recommend them. Have a cool pedal bump on me!
19. That is incredible. Never have I wanted to spend that amount on an instrument as much as now. Pity I don't have the means.
20. Sweet guys, thanks. I tried to get GuitarGuitar to price match or come close (so I could try before I buy) but they dragged their heels. Its a £80 difference so i think it'll be a Thomann purchase!
