  1. If you are serious and want the best experience go for an Eminence - I picked one up second hand - pricey I admit but worth every pound you will pay. They are an all wood built EUB (bracing- framework, etc =like a real solid wood an upright - but has been on Slimfast ) - fantastic sound, adjustable bridge with a built in pickup and a fingerboard & neck to die for - easy to transport and you'll keep it until you cannot gig anymore then sell it and you'll get more than you paid for it by then - YES I love mine and intend to keep it till i'm well into my 80's = God willing There's an Aria SWB EUB up for sale at bassdirect (its been there since before Christmas) - I nearly pulled the trigger on it twice after extensive research and dipping my toe into the world of EUBs, but for some reason before and after Christmas delayed and the Eminence came up. They at imported through the company who deal with SIMMS in Kent or online through ebay or Golihur Music in USA but before COVID-19 come in between 3-4K what with freight and Custom charge
  2. Members 57 196 posts Report post Posted 6 hours ago These are great basses. The sig on the guard is real, he signed them all with a sharpie which is why they are all faded. Yes, I remember seeing pick guard signature models when they were originally released. I was interested in getting the real thing back then rather than an artist signature model
  3. Love mine too - compared to the Classic and VB4 to me this is so much better
  4. 31/3/20 = Will accept £300.00 + delivery (or you can come and collect/try it out and have a walk around the beautiful downs/foreshore for your daily exercise) I'm also open to trades - amp/bass/pedals etc - cash either way
  5. I had the Trace 1110 combo back in the 80s from 84 - 94 and sold it for a SWR redhead. Same pre amp but always wanted the ultra violet lamp glowing behind me - still looks cool.....and at that price its 50p a Watt ….
  6. ...Yes, it is a beast - has two separate amps under her bonnet and can be pokey when needed
  7. Last price drop - the add upgrades cost over a 100 quid when I purchased them (NOS really as not gigged with them)
  8. Price reduction - if you want a better offer give me your best offer - evil bay looms
  9. Its in super condition - buy one now and locate another lol
  10. Agree with MJJS - pick up SO important - a pre can help a lot too, I am convinced it just depends which amp you go into - I go direct into an AER amp one and have no issues at all ….failing that you could buy an Eminence EUB and all your problems would be solved
  11. Here we have my trusted USA made 2x10 Ampeg cab, 8 Ohm and 250/500 Watts . I used to use this with another Ampeg 2x10 (but moved that one on some years ago), and have since only used this one for home practice - low volume. You can see from the pictures it is in wonderful condition, original speakers, good working castors complete with cover. I have shown a picture of the inside of the grill as they were known for the wood frame splitting at the bottom (not the case here). The vertical and horizontal white lines on the frame are 'just lines' and not anything else... Collection only from Southbourne (near Emsworth, just east of Portsmouth on the South Coast). - come down and make a day of it- i'll take you round the Emwortth foreshore and have a coffee - FREE of charge
  12. I bought this amp some years ago as a back-up to my main amp. Although I gigged it a few times, whilst my main amp was in for a service, it has only seen a maximum of 4 gigs. It then became amp 3,4,5 and so on. In the meantime I spent some money on it purchasing (well over £100.00 and your gain as the amp has hardly been used since) - all direct from Ashdown 8 new feet (4 for the side and 4 for the bottom) a new leather handle padded cover x2 pedals - change between the various options A - EQ on/off, pre set signature Ashdown sound & B Valve Drive and Sub Octave The amp has lots of features and packs a punch - at the time it was Ashdown's flagship amp. Whoever gets this amp will get a well cared for and up-together amp. If you're not used to this amount of power and quality of tone, this amp will elevate your sound within the band and give your tone authority. This is the twin amp (2x 575w) model - I always admired these amps and identified it as the 4 fan version (if you look at the others in that range they have 1 or 2 fans and NOT 4 as the more powerful amp has). Please note current PAT test sticker ( I have ALL my gigging equipment PAT tested yearly as I play so many venues that first ask for Public Liability Insurance and PAT test docs). If you require tech specs then there are lots on line, or more detailed photos, please PM me and I'll ping them over. I put reflective stickers on the two foot pedals so I knew what was what on stage - they can easily be removed - but this highlights the availability of choice of the EQ section, the Ashdown Pre-set tone option, Valve Drive and Sub Octave to you mid performance. Located just east of Portsmouth on the South Coast (West Sussex) . A cash deal would be my preference but I could be up for trades, depends on what you have to offer - collection only.
  13. ..but a very endearing pic profile...lol
  14. Thanks for your messages - all seems well and it appears that although there 'could' have been a knock or a humidity issue the wrong type of glue seems to point to the answer
  15. The luther called me when I got home and said that a white glue was on the neck - he said the wrong glue had previously been applied (must of had a previous repair as its a mid 1970s German Bass). When I arrived he was warming the glue up on the stove - I pick it up tomorrow so I'll let you know.
  16. I now know what it feels like to be a gob iron player or a triangle ist on a gig - ha ha
  17. Once a month a play a Jazz gig on electric but I decided to double up and take my upright. I packed the bass up carefully as normal into its newish cover and placed it into the estate (securing it in place). Drove to the venue and careful took it out. Carried it over the uneven ground and then wheeled it on the smoother surface to the doors of the venue and carried it up the stairs. Once on the stage I unzipped the case to find that the fingerboard had completely come away from the neck and was just lying in the case.....ummm bummer (lucky I brought the electric). About a year ago I had a local luther did some work on it including fixing a new wheeled bridge, sound post, new strings and 'shoot' (levelled) the fingerboard (he didn't take the fingerboard off to do this). Questiion - although I haven't knocked it, use a humidifier in my room, (and monitor this - usually reads between 45% - 50%), have a dampit and various containers of water in the room - is this a normal thing to happen?
  18. I purchased a Kala about a month ago. Played it a bit at home to get used to the string spacing (left& right hands) and gigged it last Friday night in a jazz quartet I often play in. At first they laughed at it but they soon changed their minds once they heard it through my AER = a bit hit and they want me to play it more....I could have been smug and said 'told you so' but thought better and just smiled to myself...
  19. I've tried to PM you several times, I just get a message..... 'P J-Bassist is not receiving messages'
