1. Got 25% to pay on my Moollon P bass which is currently sat at the Parcelforce depot five minutes from my house... but i can't have it until HMRC send me a letter with the customs charges...
 2.
The LED's are this one are quite something as I remember. They are placed rather unconventionally and illuminate randomly. A proper light show under your fingers.
It's utterly ridiculous but I love it...
 3.
Rob, There's a whole load of bass envy/Wal love happening right now on the Facebook Wal Basses club page now that the new owner of your old fretless 4-string has posted his new aquisition... https://www.facebook...p_comment_reply
I'm so glad he's happy with it, it's very stressful shipping a bass of that value and waiting for the "all good" from the buyer. The facings on that bass are so beautiful, I'm very tempted to go for similar on my incoming fretless mk3 sixer. I've gone for the same edge lines, seems like a good compromise to me, the board looks clean from the front and lined from the playing position I already regret moving it on, but I'm streamlining my gear at the moment so it's for the greater good
 4. I've been using D'addario pro steels on my sixers for the last couple of years... I'm still not 100% with them but they are the best I've tried. I picked up a four string set of DR pure blue strings recently and they are the best rounds I have used but not available in a six string set sadly.
 5.
who even shows up to a gig at midnight unless its new years?
When I was 13 and we were out gigging the metal venues before the licensing laws changed, headline bands went on at 10, pub shut at 11 and everyone went home... When they changed it all became "OK guys your headlining so your slot is 1am till 2am" ... on a Tuesday night... ...no wonder all of the venues we used to play have now closed down.
 6.
There have been times when "you're headlining, you're on at midnight!" has made me inwardly tut as I'd like to be in my bed by then.
oh christ me too... I'm happily in bed by 9.30 most nights.
 7.
Yoga, and eat sensibly. Drink just water when gigging.
I fail on all three counts there...
 8.
I'll consider myself too old when certain members in the crowd stop making the contents of my pants feel funny.
To be honest I would have thought soiling yourself was probably a sign to start thinking about giving it up...
 9.
Are you looking at originals bands? A lot of those are still aiming to "make it" so want young fresh faces, funky dance moves, fashionable beards and hats worn at just the right angle...

Actually anyone still sporting a beard is already painfully out of date.
I have a beard...
...and I'm the least cool person imaginable...
case in point...
 10.
I was happy with my musicman copy for 15 years.
I was happy with all my gear until I joined Basschat...
 11. Are you looking at originals bands? A lot of those are still aiming to "make it" so want young fresh faces, funky dance moves, fashionable beards and hats worn at just the right angle... If image is more important than ability (and it usually is), I'm also too old at 33 There are plenty of good options out there though I still manage to find originals bands and I'm the least cool person imaginable... It just takes time and the patience to weed through the dreamers...
 12. worth a read... made me chuckle.
 13. Some links to material might help, as would age expectations etc?
 14.
Volume for each pickup, stacked bass/treble, a push pull for active/passive and a push pull split coil on the humbucker. I like my basses versatile.... obviously
Yeah a volume for each pickup will be really useful. It'll be interesting to see how P bass it sounds with the P solo'd and how Stingray like it sounds with that massive humbucker solo'd. ... a bass for all occasions.
 15.
I could do with another sunburst Jazz...
I knew this was going to be sunburst before I opened the thread... Congrats though, looks fantastic.
 16.
They balked when I asked them to put a speedometer in it.
A black speedometer? It looks great though really futuristic... must be really versatile as well, what are the controls?
 17.
SOFA SHOT MOFOS!!!!!! YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS. It's a good week for basses in the Baker household.
I don't think it has enough pickups...
 18. I'm not too bad, I move around a fair bit and look fairly cheerful... I'm having fun when I'm gigging so I guess it shows through
 19. Rasmus bought my fretless Wal and the deal couldn't have gone smoother. He was even going to fly to the UK to pick it up until I felt guilty and shipped it! Instant payment, reliable communication and he let me know the minute it arrived and was happy with it Trustworthy guy, deal with confidence
 20. Now sold and residing with it's new owner Please lock.
 21.
Yeah, I'm just worried that as it's happened after a couple of days it's a problem. The E does grind a bit so that's probably why. I'll switch the rounds for chrome flats and oil it when doing the string change. Should sort it.
Flats won't mark the board but I'm not keen on the tone with flats on fretless... I'd just embrace the marking as part of the instruments natural wear and tear I have a fretless Wal sixer due next year and I'll be using rounds on that from the outset, if it gets marked so be it. I'd rather that than have the instrument not sounding how I want it too.
 22.
Incidentally I've been playing it so much I've already marked the fingerboard and it's ebony Might have to oil or epoxy it, not that I've any idea how to do that, but the oil should be simple enough.
I've done that to the ebony board on my Peterbuilt fretless after only a couple of months... To be honest though fretboard marking is just a natural part of a fretless instrument... doesn't seem to affect the value in any way either.
 23.
You might need to explain that particular cultural reference for the benefit of forum members who are under 45......
Yes neither of them will have any idea what your talking about..
 24. Hi Guys, I have this message on my parcelforce tracking for a bass I've imported from Korea... Your parcel is currently with the customs authorities and is being assessed for import duties and local taxes. These will be notified to the addressee and usually need to be paid prior to the parcel being delivered. Any idea how long this bit usually takes / what I can expect?
 25. It's never easy is it... I formed a band from scratch last year advertising on gumtree. It was easier as I was playing guitar and had written the basic arrangements for a bunch of tracks for the project. I'm not doing this particular project anymore as I'm crap at guitar and a bass player through and through but anyway... Among the dreamers and timewasters I met a guy who took all of the demo tracks to his tutor, learn't every note of every part before the first rehearsal, put his own spin on it and turned up with a selection of ideas for each part. On top of that he could really play, great timing and groove and was a really nice bloke, relaxed, no pretentious nonsense, always turned up on time, never messed around noodling when we were talking through ideas etc... Essentially he was the perfect musician to work with and even though that project has disbanded I'd love to work with him again... only problem is he's a f**king bass player
