3.
You've been a busy little detective. Sorry mate I was certain they played gimme shelter on the tele. Alcohol and recollection have never been good bed fellows.
Well, I had to check as I like the 2 songs , so I watched again to make sure I wasn`t in a cider haze. Apparently someone said Virgin played the whole set, so maybe you saw it there. Whatever the case, I enjoyed the limited set twice. I really don`t mind if you point out where I am wrong as I have been on many occasion.
 4. I am not that bothered by lyrics as a rule, but Thin Lizzy lyrics do bother me although I like the songs. Tonight there's gonna be a jailbreak Somewhere in this town Whenever I hear this lyric, I automatically think of how many jails there are in a town, as usually it is one. Boys are Back in Town is also a song that gets me for some reason. Perfectly good songs, but lyrically, I don`t think they are good
 5.
Hee hee..... I know but I didn't wanna say.
Why didn`t you want to say? You can always tell me if I am wrong, I won`t mind. Did you see it on TV? I have just watched the iplayer again, and no Paint it Black or Give Me Shelter .Looking at the set list, it was early and the tv coverage only started with Miss you.
 6.
They did play Paint it Black and Give me Shelter.
I don't think they played the whole show on BBC
 7.
Daryll 'The Munch' Jones. He used to get around a bit.... Sting...
Thanks I will have a watch of the vids tomorrow
 8.
Just checked out Goat... I reckon they should be seen and not herd. ...I'll get me crook.
Excellent
 9. !992 was my first time. Trying to get in was bad as the organisers had decided that year the travellers weren`t coming in for free, so they blocked the entrance. Took hours to get in. It was a boiling hot weekend. The organisers had to bring in emergency water to give out. My memories of Carter USM, The Levellers on the Friday was awesome. Saturday was not so much to my taste musically. Highlights for me was Thousand Yard Stare, Ocean Colour Scene, Lush, Catherine Wheel and Sandkings. ( Biggest disappointment after was when the lead singer of Sandkings had a hit With Babylon Zoo, Spaceman). Sunday had Blur headlining the NME stage, Neds Atomic Dustbin, Teenage Fanclub and the Frank and Walters.
 10.
thats a daft thing to ask and has no bearing on the topic of conversation!
Not daft at all. People are saying they were not that great, I am asking if they would play if they could. I have no idea who the bassist was, but he would maybe have said it was a stupid question a couple of years ago . Would you turn it down?
 11.
I was about 100 yards back stage right. It was good, you had to be there. But it was good, like really awesomely cheesey crowd pleasingly fun stuff type good. I liked it.
Good for you That is what I was trying to say, if you were there with the atmosphere and all, it was probably excellent. Watch it on DVD or a live recording in the future, you would probably think, it was good, but not great. Atmosphere can not translate to TV
 12. Just one question....... If The Rolling Stones ever asked any of you if you wanted to play bass in the band, would anyone turn them down? I know I wouldn`t. That would have to be the biggest invite in music
 13.
I really don't see the point of this post. Of course how good you think they are depends on whether you are a fan or not. If you are not a fan you are hardly gonna say " watching the stones here, they are excellent but I think they are sh*t". Of course you would see something different if you liked them. As for you liking chic less but watching them more, what does that quantify, other than my level of confusion?
I am not sure that is true about being a fan. I like a few of their songs, Paint It Black and give me shelter to name two which they didn`t play. I liked it because they went to Glastonbury, which they didn`t need to, and probably got a fraction of what they usually got paid. I just liked the whole set because it seemed they were coming back to the people, instead of being charged £150 for the privilege. Maybe they weren`t great , but as I said, the majority of the country have no experience of playing an instrument, so they enjoy them as entertainers, not as critiques.
 14.
Seconded. In true Glasto fashion, the set is now being heralded as the best thing ever. However... Putting the disappointment and cynicism down a moment, that was a group of very old men putting on that show. I hope I can do half as much when my time comes. And I thought, for all it's faults, it was pretty light-hearted and crowd pleasing. And I think we could have seen it coming, with hindsight - a set trapped between the age of the players, the memories of their past glories, and the corporate body of Glastonbury.
In defence of the best thing ever comment, I have seen many bands live and thinking it was the best thing I have ever seen. Then a few days after you have gone back to work, got everything into perspective, you realise you may have seen better, or at least, as good, for different reasons. I guess you had to be there, as watching it on TV, you don`t get the buzz and excitement. I would imagine the atmosphere would have been electric. As I say, I am not a big fan, but I reckon I would've rated it as one of the best musical experiences if I was there. Like them or not, they are legends who can still sell stadiums out after 50 years.
 15.
Cheers for that
Not sure if you wanted to watch any of it. It is on BBC iplayer
 16.
What time did bbc show it? Was it red button? I saw craig charles introduce pubic enemy ,and switced over. Watched wallander, still no stones ...
It was around 11pm start, but I watched it on the internet, so no idea about the red button bit.
 17.
Come, now. I could listen to you Aldi time.
HAHA .
 18. I find him quite entertaining. Not my favourite music, but he is playing what he wants to play, in his own way. He also seems to be a nice person everytime I see him interviewed
 19.
If you want the look perhaps One Direction is going to be more your thing. I would take the music over the look anyday

That's unnecessary and rude. It's the kinda comment that's more at home on a UFC type forum. This place is chilled and happy please try and behave.
Ted Manzie seemed to take it good heart which was my intention, which is the reason for me choosing one direction as using them as an example. I never thought anyone would take me seriously . I keep forgetting the type of things. What is a UFC forum?
 20.
its not the sound, it's the look!
If you want the look perhaps One Direction is going to be more your thing. I would take the music over the look anyday
 21. I am enjoying it. Perhaps it is the curse of being good musicians why some people are not enjoying it, and . I am not, so to me it sounds good. I like the loose sound. If I wanted it really tight and formulaic, I can put on a CD
 22. Not a massive fan of the Stones, but I like what I am watching. Nice bass solo in it as well
 23. I read the topic and got an urge for chocolate
 24. So intonation is perfect tuning? Ok thanks all for the answers
 25. What exactly is intonation? I guess it has something to do with the tone of the bass.I have read the importance of intonation. I have read a bit about it on the net, and get a few differing answers. I assume that you need to adjust the screws on the adjustable saddles. Is that similar to just tuning the guitar properly? Also I gather it is impossible to get perfect intonation on every fret, Is that true? Also, is it something I need to worry about being a learner?
