    NOW SOLD Desperately need to find space in our house, so am selling my back-up cab, a Barefaced Super Compact (1 x 12, no horn, generation 3), black steel grill, complete with Barefaced cover. Absolutely perfect condition. I've used it for a couple of dozen pub gigs, but haven't enough room for two cabs in the house, and my Super Twin is what I need for the larger gigs. In the unlikely event of me going back to pub gigs, I'll just have to keep the volume down! Brilliant cab for any type of music, so long as it can be played through a single 12" speaker. I used it mainly with an Ashdown Rootmaster 800 to power it, a light weight and powerful alternative to lugging a combo around. If anyone is interested in buying the amp and the cab, please ask, I am prepared to sell them together. Prefer collection from West Oxfordshire, but it is in the original box Barefaced used to send it to me in 2017, so should be OK with a courier. I will be in Leicester on February 10th , and can meet with a buyer there if that helps.

    How does this work if you are unlucky enough to be one of the few to have been born with a deficiency in the leg dept? I, for example, have only two legs. Bit tricky making a triangle with only two sides, surely?

    Three years and a couple of weeks ago, I find it hard to believe as well.

    I have to consciously shift my weight onto my right foot when I am standing and playing as otherwise I will be unable to walk for a day or two after a gig. Mainly due to the fact that my left foot was badly broken in a motorcycle accident 3 years ago, though.

    Now that's something I've never considered. I'll add a large mirror and stand to my gigging kit right now! Only problem is that the guitarist will only be able to see me in the mirror and will think I'm doing it all wrong!

    The only problem, and it is one I have come across in a couple of the bands I have played in recently, as well as at jam nights, is the nightmare of the left handed guitarist. I find it very difficult to 'read' the chords from the guitarists hands when it's al the 'wrong' way round for me! Some of the best guitarists I have had the pleasure of playing have been left handed....

    I certainly know a few guitarists who have gone through over 100 guitars without realising that the problem is simply that they can't play.

    I can't think of any band that hasn't declined once they've become well known. I should qualify this by saying that I know very little recent music (post 70s).

    Doing pretty well there, Al, correct bass, correct preamp (uni pre 5 knob) and strings - standard set of d'Addario nickel rounds to replace the worn out set on the bass when I got it, plus my local chap's quality set-up, which he does so much better than I can. I've bought the hardware, and booked the work, but it won't happen until the end of week 1, 2019. Maybe if I paid in advance I could stay in the game!

    I booked a bass in for a new pre-amp, new strings, and set-up today. Not going to happen until the new year. I've already bought the strings and pre-amp, but the work will come under the 2019 budget, am I out already?

    I bought an acoustic bass earlier this year, but after it had sat in my room for six months and only been payed twice in the first week of ownership, I sold it on. It just didn't fit into what I need to do with a bass, unfortunately.

    Nothing wrong with a 500 series Ibanez, I have Fenders, etc, and until last week an Alembic, but my SR506 (6 string version of your bass) has been my most often gigged bass in the last few months. I've used Ashdown gear for years, it's good stuff, and easy to operate. If you really feel the need to upgrade something, I'd go for a bigger combo, plenty of ABM 500 combos around for well under your budget, but better suited to strong backs as they aren't light. Good sound quality and plenty of volume, though. I've been playing for over 40 years and have never bothered with any effects.

    I used to play White Rabbit with Jenny Haan (of Babe Ruth and Jenny Haan's Lion) singing. Hard to forget the gig where we had to play it four times before we were allowed to leave the stage!
