3. It's probably only blocked on mobile devices (phones/tablets).
 4.
WOW!!!!!!!!!
I concur....
 5. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
 6. https://www.youtube.com/shared?ci=UUgtrB6z5LE Sounds good to me. I don't know what it'd sound/track like on bass though.
 7.
Agree with a fair amount of this being a member on SBL as well. It's well worth the money (imo) and have got a lot out of it just in terms of the inspiration it's given me. The only thing I really struggle with is that there is so much content on there that I will never get around to watching or reading it all. I like the fact that there aren't any slagging matches on the forum - a breath of fresh air having been on forums for the last 16 years where slagging matches are accepted as the norm . It's just a bunch of really great people helping each other out with music and bass stuff in general. Judging from my encounters with Scott, he comes across as being a good bloke. If he's made a ton of dosh out of it - fair play to him, especially as he's from a working class background, and from what I can see, he's grafted for it and he's got a good team of people working with him. Comparing his first videos he put up 6/7 years ago to what he's created now shows how much he's learned about selling his business, but it's a business that's at the forefront of education for bass players.
I'm member too and I would agree with everything you say. It is definitely not without fault, but my playing has moved on massively in the last 6 months.
 8. I've soldered the earth wire together but I'm still getting white noise. I'm not sure if the input jack is kaput. Is it worth buying something like this and just replace all the wiring - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/132087206274 With guidance would that work?
 9.
There appears to be a broken earth wire between the tone pot and the output socket.
Yeah I noticed that, I've tried holding the two bits together when plugged in but it didn't really make a difference. Im slightly out of my depth with this lol!
 10. I picked up a 1960s Kay SG copy about a year ago for £20 as the signal was intermittent at best and has now cut out entirely. I've bought a soldering iron (I've never soldered before and no nothing about electronics). Is there anything obviously the matter with it? I'd like to sort it but don't have enough invested in it that I want to go to a repair tech. Thanks. 11. Mine (2016 Combustion model not NG2 but has the same neck) was thicker than my Stingray 5 and Ibanez SR1205. It's the only real reason I sold it, as I need a pretty thin neck to feel comfortable. It's all subjective though, I suppose.
 12.
Something I've long thought about in these here competitions is I'd like to know more about these guys who enter. What gear do you all use? Do you use a pro studio at work, or is it done at home on a studio held together with string and chewing-gum? How long do you spend on it? What's the creative process and how do you put it together? How can somebody do this on a shoe-string budget? Just wonderin'
It's a good question! For myself I record very much on the cheap. I use my Zoom B3 to connect to my old laptop. I then use the Reaper DAW to record, mix and master. Personally I usually (but not always) start with a bass line while looking at the picture and I work out a guitar part that works over it. Eventually a song structure will emerge and I'll set up a drum track using EZ Drummer. I'll then write some lyrics (not my strength) inspired by the picture and work out a melody over the top. On this one I used the EHX Iron Lung vocoder to hide my vocals behind cos I really can't sing lol! I usually don't have too much spare time to devote so I usually do it over the course of a week or so maybe half an hour a day (sometimes more, sometimes less). I very much do this on a shoe string budget which probably explains why my entries tend to be the most amateurish sounding lol. In a little honesty in terms of equipment you could get away with just a guitar/bass/microphone, an audio interface (I use the Zoom B3) and a laptop - if you learned how to use VST's to provide the various effects required. Sorry for the aimless ramble - I'm still very much a rank amatuer at this recording lark! :-)
 13.
Got the chance to get one for around £350.............worth chancing for the money? I just bought a Peavey G, immaculate with the Modulus neck for £200 so I am expecting the T40 to be something special.
Assuming it's in a good condition that seems a pretty good price to me. They usually go for a bit more.
 14.
Thanks, folks; slowly but surely...
Really good to see you back. :-)
 15. As a buyer unless the ad specifically stated the strings would be new I always work on the assumption that I will have to change the strings anyway. You've done nothing wrong as far as I'm concerned.
 16. Here's my attempt (first time in a while) - as sloppy as ever! If I have time I'll try to revisit it and tidy things up a bit. The attempt at lyrics tells a very over-simplistic story of gunslinger roaming the Wild West righting wrongs etc. https://soundcloud.com/rikki-boyes/lonestar Thanks for listening - any comments are welcome
 17.
I was just reviewing my Soundlcoud page and realised that there are at 30 compositions on there that would not have been written were it not for these challenges. The quality is distictly variable, of course, but the learning has been invaluable. One wonders how many tunes have been written across the Basschat fraternity because of this. Whoever had the idea for this thread is a frickin' genius.
I couldn't agree more. Mine vary from 'poor' to 'very poor' but it's been a great learning experience and I've really enjoyed it and I would never have got into it without this thread.
 18.
I'm in...nearly missed it !! Started off as a cover of Rikki Boyes' "Rainy Day" but time and imagination went against me....probably just as well https://soundcloud.com/nigel-jewell/a-poor-caroline have a good one all, Nige
Haha I'd have loved to have heard that! :-)
