I’ll be keen to check out the Thorpe FX offering. I wonder what the price might be; £265ish? And now I’m looking at FTelectronicas version again. https://www.ftelettronica.com/product/envelope-follower-triggered-filter/ I really don’t need another filter but…

This is great news. Glad to see your campaigning paid off @Quatschmacher 😬. So glad I held off from getting the Supervintage and ‘64 Black Panel! -
Anyone's got Thundercat's actual pedalboard pics and settings?
HoorayForAnonyms replied to Tonkin2's topic in Effects
Thats the best picture I've been able to find and I became slightly obsessed with searching through photos of his live sets. There is a very recent tv performance on the Steve Colbert show where you can see he is still using the EBS DPhaser along with the Moog MF-101 and Digitech Whammy. With the settings for the MF-101, he varies the sound a lot both live and on the recorded versions. The actual settings he favours for the MF-101 will sound different if another person copied them since things like a player's attack, the output of the bass etc. will have an impact on how the envelope responds. I've dialled it in by ear but he tends to favour high drive for a dirty sound with a high resonance and lower frequency on the MF-101. The picture of the EBS Dphaser clearly shows the rate and depth but again he varies his settings a lot. The EBS DPhaser in the picture is set to the Long mode which is an 8-stage setting which makes up a big part of that sound. The Moog MF-103 he used previously was a 6-stage phaser but I think any 6-8 stage phaser - analogue or digital - will get you his sound with the right rate and depth! Hope that helps! Look forward to your video. 😀 -
I was interested in this pedal before. I’m really interested now having watched your video. Thanks so much for putting together such a thorough overview. Really helpful!

I also picked up one when they were heavily discounted at Gear 4 Music. I also opted for the extended warranty based on reports of qc issues. Mine seems perfect for now. Hopefully it stays that way! Just got these preset packs which are fantastic. I can’t rate them enough!

Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!

Very nice. And that secret CMC pedal looks interesting 😛 -
Great stuff. I think you might have owned a Triungulo Barbanera at some stage. I’m wondering how the Past FX compares. As much as I like the Barbanera, the always on gain is a bit annoying!

Very cool. I’ve had my eye on this for a while. Will be keen to hear how you get on! Congrats.

I think the Behringer clones have been a little hit and miss lately but hopefully this one gets close to the original MF-101.

After several months of waiting, the Iron Ether Subterranea has finally arrived. Described by Taylor at Iron Ether as a, ‘multi-timbral analog synthesizer and octave pedal’ it acts as an oscillator section for a great analogue synth setup when paired with an envelope filter. These were discontinued a few years ago but recently brought back for a limited production run. Hopefully they’ll be added back to the regular production line. It’s a great analogue synth pedal. https://on.soundcloud.com/CpmKMabzrIOQzEnS99 https://on.soundcloud.com/U5G8C0THhHiAINPoEz https://on.soundcloud.com/HmamFI3dmsihHflhpM https://on.soundcloud.com/aEdvwY6QUt0qnNTR8M

I can confirm this. The Enzo X was a missed opportunity for them to actually take some of the bass market; which is admittedly minuscule compared to the guitar market but…

Hmmmm, not very friendly. I regret sharing the video in the first place if this person is only interested in selling their preset pack.

Whoops. Sorry! I should say great to hear more demos of people playing the FI on keys…for over two hours.
-
Great to hear someone using the latest FI on keys.

Whoops, sorry Shep. The link was for a video I recorded but it only exists on Instagram. It was t a particurly good video. I did record some rough sound clips too. Hopefully they give some sense of the sound. It does also sound exactly like the clips I’ve heard of the original pedals that are still hosted on Chunks website. https://www.chunk.com.au/a00f2.htm#synth

It arrived today. Initial impressions after ten minutes of knob twiddling and preset switching. This is good. This is very, very good.
-
I think it is just one way on the actual pedal itself but I’m not certain! It does seem like an external switcher can bank up and down between presets. It’s like the C4 in that respect. The MXR video manual demos up and down banking pretty well. The manual also says that any open (momentary) switch will work so I wonder if a two button switcher will allow up and down preset changes without having to long press like in the video.

Great point. The Old Blood Noise Expression Ramper would work perfectly for this application. It has a one shot mode to instantly jump between values and stay there. I don’t use mine in this way but should work well for this kind of application. I use it for big slow filter sweeps that aren’t possible using a manual expression pedal. My MXR Synth should be arriving today. I can post a clip of it using the OBN Ramper to demo both of the above if there is interest.
