1. Dug out an oldie. Wow this is so mellow and beautiful. Charlie Haden and Pat Metheny, the album is 'Beyond the Missouri Sky' http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLcp13yWoMc
2. I just sold some Olivs but the D and G were not new when I got them. They de-tuned overnight often, depending on temperature and humidity change. But when playing them i didn't notice any meaningful tuning shifts. So in short I guess they do settle down but will never be completely stable tuning-wise (like any gut string)
3. I await the cheque
4. This is a very useful piece of kit for gigging double bass. Converts any amp into one with DB functionality as it offers a high pass filter (to cut low end boom) and a phase switch (to fight feedback) as well as impedance matching your piezo pickup and amp. Damn cheap for how useful it is, too! So BassChat DB'ers, if you don't have one already, you should!
5. This lot were flagged up on BassChat once and got lots of praise and enthusiasm from members here. So I thought I'd give a heads up that they are over in the UK playing the Borderline in London Monday 9th December http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6EPwRdVg5Ug Tickets here: http://www.seetickets.com/event/lake-street-dive/borderline/720531
6. Blues are lovely strings and the tarnish is easily removed with a wet rag and toothpaste!
7. Hey Lonestar, not Earls Court but same tour. This is gonna make me into a blubbering mess http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsjdSbmSECk
8. Yep Clarky here again. Yadda yadda. Does it get more boring and predictable? Needless to say Chris is a legend
9.

http://basschat.co.u...uthiers-thread/

Or Clive Wilkinson in Nottingham, as recommended by esteemed BC moderator ubassman (see post #14 in linked thread)
10. Who mentioned banjos?
11. Rory booought some DB strings off me. All good and - as above - would happily deal with him agaiin
12. Withdrawing from sale. I don't need the money right now, I've had no offers to pick up the bass locally, and its also a pleasure to play and a joy to behold. I may reconsider at a later date but for now, please close this thread mods.
13. I just did this for a set of DB strings on BassChat. I offered to refund before receipt of strings, even though they did not appear to be faulty when I sent them on. I think this community thrives on trust and that is my guiding principle (as long as the other party isn't a random joiner with no posts and no feedback)
14. Don't be scared about using gentle force - I use my thumb to gently force the bridge back into position. The tension of the strings (60 pounds plus with Spiros) is such that, unless you are extremely clumsy, it won't suddenly flip over and collapse on you. Its quite easy to move the bridge 1cm or so gradually with no risk at all, in my view. Just be patient and brave!
15. Just brilliant, the energy of the man and sidekick Warren Ellis is staggering. Entry fee alone was justified by the most stunning version of 'Jubilee Street' with a crashing 90mph, wall-of-noise finale Catch him on this tour if you can
16. Given the sad news of Lou Reed's untimely demise, I saw this on another forum and thought I'd post up. Its Herbie Flowers talking through his creation of the bass line. Interesting stuff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XBXUP5GqYJs
17.
[s]Hats[/s] Berets off.
Corrected
18. Nice one Nige and crew! As others have expressed, its a crying shame you weren't in the vid. It needs more flared leather trousers
19. Brief window with internet - strings are sold
20. I'm really not sure which night to choose. Darryl Scott is a fab singer but I saw him in JUly with DT so it makes sense to see someone different. Currently torn between Martin Simpson and Richard Thompson
21. I SO wish I could be there tonight Ad and Lozz but will be out of 'that London' wearing a tweed waistcoat, with strange facial hair, attending a bluegrass course
22. deets here https://www.facebook...irthdaySessions Now which one do I attend, hmmm
23. I bet there's still a spare place on DB course Jack if you are seriously interested but would have to be quick, as its starts Friday late afternoon
24. I only signed up last weekend. And its next weekend But I hate you anyway
