  1. Replied. On hold
  2. Mike bought a top quality EA amp off me. Very friendly comms and prompt payment. Couldn't ask for more! Highly recommended and I am delighted to kick off this thread - I just hope for his sake it doesn't become as ridiculously long as my feedback thread 🤣
  3. Updated pics. Very agricultural looking and still missing the I/P pad central chicken head knob (as when I bought it). Who cares though, its a stomp box and sounds great!
  4. Thats not what my scales say
  5. Try playing a Warwick Thumb and it feels you are reaching out for miles to get to the first position. Yet it has the exact same 34" scale length as your Godin and a Fender P. All due to tiny body.
  6. Me playing this bass in my old funk band (for those with FaceBook). Sorry about the undertaker outfit and hat, not my choice https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2075903759123268&id=100001109917240&sfnsn=mo
  7. I have too many basses (bet you haven't read that before) and need to thin the herd. While this is the fastest and easiest playing of all of my basses, its the least suited to my various bands (blues, Americana, country). Weighs next to nothing (OK I exaggerate, about 7 pounds), has an ultra-slim 1.35" nut width, unfinished maple board, maple/wenge neck and holly top, plus John East electronics. This Carl Thompson-esque beauty was originally custom made around 6 years ago for BC'er Kev Hopper and - much as I adore it - it occupies the same role as an ACG 32" Recurve I had custom made for me last year ... and the ACG ain't going anywhere. Very good condition (a few tiny nicks but nothing alarming). No hard case but comes with Fusion padded gig bag and will be well packed if delivery required. Would prefer to hand over (I am near Hammersmith, London). £1500 plus post is an absolute bargain for this hand-made quality. I reserve the right to change my mind and kick myself in the proverbials. Note: Pablo the sausage dog is not for sale. Kev's original FS thread with tons of pics:
  8. Andy, Bassico in Germany sells individual strings so you can pick up Presto Ultralight A/D/G for about 90 Euro. Or just the A and D and I have a spare nearly-new G I can sell for £15. Incidentally, I can assure you my answer was not contrived just to sell you a G string!!!! https://www.bassico.eu/rockabilly-strings-presto-nylonwound/8834-0-0-8834-0.htm?cat=1089&l=EN
  9. TBH, I didn't even try it as the DHA valve pedal arrived first and I loved the sound. If it ain't broke ... I just sold the TC still-boxed/unused on the Effects FS forum for a barg price 🙄
  10. Superior Bass Works. Synthetic gut like strings https://www.bassbags.co.uk/product/deluxe-double-bass-3-4-set-of-strings-gut-colour/?gclid=CjwKCAjw7anqBRALEiwAgvGgm41gUbaLgACZgWFKi1EKH1IezIXGOiOfVhdenQvqtbyANRKN3WmZuxoC5zgQAvD_BwE
  11. Just to close this thread (or at least my contribution to it), I really liked the DHA VT-1 Std valve pedal but quickly decided I wanted to replicate the sound through a 'one pedal solution' valve-driven preamp/DI (preferably with 9V capability) so I could take it on ampless/house rig gigs. So I took a punt on the latest (9V driven) EBS Valvedrive and it fits the bill beautifully. Funnily enough the 'modern' setting sounds better to my ears than the 'vintage' one (which errs a bit on the muddy) but - at least for me, through my solid state Acoustic Image amp - this nails warm Motown as well as creamy OD (I am not interested in high gain distortion). Thanks to all who contributed in this thread. I have ended up with a setup that works for me, although I realise it won't be for everyone. Cheers!
  12. Replied, TC Sold 😁 DHA VT-1 Std still available
  13. Not tried Blast Cults but how about Presto Nylon Ultralights, gut like, nylon-wrapped feel and steel wire core (so mag friendly)? Relatively cheap too at about £115-120 including post, eg Thomann https://m.thomann.de/gb/presto_nylonwound_ultralight.htm Video:
  14. Following advice on the forum on attaining a Motown warm/tubey sound, I bought these two pedals. I only opened the DHA VT-1 (the TC is still boxed and unused) but liked the valveyness (actual word) so much I decided I needed a full valve-driven preamp/DI pedal for ampless or house amp gigs. Hence I have just acquired a new EBS Valvedrive pedal and am very pleased with it. This means the two OD pedals are redundant and so I am putting them up for sale. The TC is completely new/unused and boxed still. Cost me £38. Save about 20%, yours for £32 posted. Can send pics if needed but its in a TC box! * SOLD * The DHA VT-1 cost me £40 and I would like the same (including delivery). Comes with 12V power supply unit and I also bought a reverse polarity adaptor for it so it could potentially be used on a regular 9V circuit (there are mixed views on this on the forum and I didn't actually try it out, so don't take my word that it definitely works!) Here is the previous FS thread and the pedal looks the gnarly same!
  15. "currently setup beautifully with La Bella 760FL flats."
  16. is this sold? I have sent you a PM
