  1. On hold, pending payment and collection
  2. Barefaced Super Compact, used but not abused. Sounds great, includes Roqsolid padded cover. Collection preferred from Morecambe, but will consider shipping at cost if it's not gone in a week, (probably around £25). I currently have two of these, but I've ordered a new 3x10 direct from Barefaced, so this is going to be surplus to requirements. Thanks, Rob
  3. Someone did post a very positive review on here a while back. But also, Ed Friedland posted on Facebook about a gig he was at using supplied backline and the Venture, in his words, “shit the bed” and had to be replaced in a hurry. I am definitely the target market for one of these, but I’m holding off too as there’s just not enough experience out there to give me confidence. Rob
  4. Andy, I'll be selling one of my SC's when the 3x10 arrives. Not as small as a Super Midget mind you. Rob
  5. It looks nice. Changed pickups, but originals supplied. I'm wondering about the date of 1972, and the guard having the thumbrest in the later position? To me, it's either a changed guard, or it's not a '72. My '73 has the rest in the lower position. Rob
  6. Andy and I got quite deep into the subtleties and complexities of Barefaced 12's, and then comparing to other cabs, with other amps. I do apologise for getting rather loud when @GreeneKing's GK Legacy 800 came out, through my pair of Super Compacts. Rob
  7. Either day is ok for me. Sunday might have actually been a bit more awkward as I normally cook Sunday Dinner for my 97 year old father in law. But he’s not sure what day it is generally, so I’d just do it on Saturday or Monday and he’d be happy. I think @lee650 would have liked to attend, and would have travelled with me, but he couldn’t as he had a gig on Saturday night. Rob
  8. As I have already said, without tea, I might die. I’m a Lancashire Lad, and I’ve been brought up never to decline a cup of tea. I think I made two or three pots on the day, in addition to those made by others. The plentiful supply of tea made my day very enjoyable indeed.
  9. I’m now watching videos on the GK Legacy 800. I was mightily impressed by your amp. It was good to see you again too. Rob.
  10. I didn't take many pics. Rob
  11. A very enjoyable day indeed. Thanks for organising Rob, and thanks to you and your daughter for catering so wonderfully. My bacon butty on arrival was just what I needed, along with the plentiful supply of tea, Yorkshire tea, in a real teapot an all. Without tea, I think I might die. It was great to meet everyone too, the time flew by. It was good to see and hear such a variety of instruments, amplifiers and effects, and to get to try them out. My favourite bass, well I really liked @LukeFRC's Bravewood P bass. Also that GK amp which @GreeneKing had kept hidden all day until the end. The cab shootout was also interesting for me, I liked the BC 12" cab a lot, again @LukeFRC had brought that. But there was so much that was new to me and unfamiliar, I'm going to have to widen my horizons. Cheers, Rob
  12. Hmm, getting serious here too! All this is coming with me tomorrow. Rob
  13. I do agree. The SC's are very revealing. They precipitated a switch from my Bergantino to a Tecamp Puma 900, simply because the Tecamp had a more old school baked in tone with the "Taste" control. I admit, I am odd, there's not a lot of top end in my tone, and I do like a pushy low mid.
  14. Less upper mid is a characteristic of their 10's vs their 12's. Having had a Two10 and three One10's, and now the two Super Compacts. I was a little naive when I bought the first SC. I thought it would be just a bigger version of their 10, but it was very different sonically, and at first I was a little disappointed to be honest. The SC's are more "hi-fi", they reproduce a lot more of what goes in, without colour. Once I got used to them, I found I could get what I wanted out of them, and they sound huge, but it did involve a change of amp! The Bergantino I was using just didn't sound how I wanted it to through the SC's, it was too pronounced in the upper mid, very hard to describe, but almost clanky. Bear in mid, I'm a vintage P Bass with flats and the tone rolled off kind of chap. Now this 3x10 is out, I'm rather excited at the prospect of having "that tone" back again, smooth, warm, old school. I've withdrawn the Berg from sale as I want to see how it sounds through the 3x10. The wait is going to kill me.... Rob
  15. Are there any virgins in Clapham? It's not called Clapham for nothing I don't think. Rob, you're already going above and beyond, but since you're asking, Tamworth Red bacon would be lovely
  16. I am partial to a bacon butty, crispy smoked streaky and real butter being the ideal. Just call me Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall.
  17. Ah ha! Thanks. Thanks for the brief review. Please keep us updated as you venture out with it. Is that the amp you gig with? I'm so looking forward to getting mine. I am also currently running Super Compacts, one or two depending. More bass than a Super Compact you say? Woo hoo! It's going to be thunderous. I've ordered mine with no tweeter, as I never hear them anyway! I see you went cloth grill, so did I, except I opted for silver for that old school look. All my others have been steel, but I felt like a change. I look forward to your next missive. Rob
  18. It's a great amp. has plenty of the "H word". I ran it with a pair of Super Compacts for two festival gigs last weekend, sounded huge. However, I am going to withdraw the Berg now. I have a BF 3x10 on order and I have a sneaking suspicion it could be a perfect match. Watch this space, but don't gold your breath, it won't be here for a few weeks yet. Rob
  19. I eat anything. This is very good of you Rob.
