1. I thought this was £600.00? Surely creating an auction scenario is against forum rules mods?
 2. Deal with Steve with confidence. He looks after all his basses and is really easy to deal with. Best of luck with the sale!! Steve
 3. Not that I can really afford this but is it a 3 or 4 bolt neck, whats the approximate weight and where abouts in the country are you? Steve
 4.
What's that? Pictures? My pleasure! Feel free to PM with any questions. Cheers! EDIT: If pictures are being dodgy, please go here!
Mike just so you know your pictures say bandwidth exceeded and your link doesn't work for me. Maybe fine for others but just letting you know! Steve
 5.
Nice looking bass Steve, I've never played a US Lakland but have heard nothing but good about them Is it Sherwood green or lighter - always difficult to tell with lots of green and blue colour variations?
I am not sure what the colour is :-) It looks just like the picture in real life but I would have described it as Teal possibly. I will have a look on the Lakland website and see what colours they offer!! Steve
 6. ***** SOLD PENDING THE USUAL ******** For sale is a bass I acquired in a trade about 3 months ago. It is a custom built US Lakland Jo Osborn signature model with a P/J pick up configuration. I am always loathe to say a bass is mint but its in very very good condition and has never been gigged. In fact I have only played it a handful of times. Its got the P/J thing down to a tee with a lovely fast jazz profile neck. Couple of pics below, I will try and get some more in a few days. Not really interested in trades unless you have a Stingray 5 plus £900 my way. Any viewing welcome, I am based Nr. Lichfield. Thanks, Steve
 7.
A couple of mistakes, but I didn't want to spend too much time on it:
Sounds great!! Lovely tone and feel.
 8. Nothing beats Bergs for me. And I spent a lot of time and money realising that.
 9. I would just stick all of the tab together in an appendix at the back of the book numbered / labelled so its easy to find if the reader wants or needs to refer to it. Problem solved! Steve
 10.
ive deleted my post..i didnt spot Platypus's post.. good call.... i love that bass but i really hate people who wheel and deal...just me i guess.. i cant get away from it... it pisses me off.. sell it on Ebay..
+1
 11.
That's just weird. You pay $500 for a pickguard because they guy who made it could have been doing something else at the time... That's totally bizarre. I mean, I see the point, but you see how that's kind of bizarre, right?
Life is bizarre. If you got Wayne Rooney to cut the pickguard when he could have been playing for manure it would cost you more. Seriously the best thing to do is not to get so tripped up on it all. Things will find their own level and nothings really 'fair' or 'right'. I try and counter balance this by trying to be happy in myself and trying not to worry about the craziness of the world. If I could earn thousands of pounds doing something then I would as would we all.
 12. The interesting thing about worth is its completely subjective. As someone who has owned 7 metros and 2 NYC Sadowksy's (and sold them all) I have to say that I don't think there is a MASSIVE difference between the metro and NYC models. In my opinion you pay twice as much for the NYC model and get a product that's 1-2% 'better' assuming you don't go for fancy tops etc which aren't offered on the metro's. However given the above if I was in a position where I could afford it I WOULD PAY double to get that extra 1-2%. I prefer to spend money on basses at the expense of a decent car, other's don't. Its all down to the individual and what makes you happy. I would love another Sadowsky if and when funds allow!! Steve
 13.
Maybe if you're negotiating yes, but I'm not. I'm just opining that the bass is a bit on the pricey side.
http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?act=SR&f=19 Point 5 in the Guidelines for buyers.
 14.
I'm sure it's a desirable bass and I too would love to see some pics (my Mk 1 is wenge and you don't see many) Phil
I think you are supposed to PM members regarding price.
 15.
To continue down that avenue, even if I'm tracking bass parts to a click track, if I'm not happy with my sound at that stage I won't be happy with the end product. Perhaps this is why I find Alembic electronics so interesting - a sound for every occasion!
What a waste of money Alembics are
 16.
I can't say I've ever known a bass to sound good on it's own and bad in the mix or vice versa. A good bass sounds good, period. If it doesn't sound good all the time, why would you buy it when there are so many basses that can?
Well 'good' or 'bad' sound is a very subjective thing. I don't particularly like the P bass tone when played solo but think they sound amazing in many band situations as an example. All I am really saying is that after gigging and recording with a Sadowsky a lot the tone I got in the mix was magnificent. Just for the record I haven't got a Sadowksy at the moment but was just trying to explain one possibility as to why they are popular with a lot of people. There are other basses that do the same things just as well its all down to what you want personally.
 17. The thing with Sadowsky's is that they can sound unspectacular when played solo and really shine when part of a mix in my opinion. Some basses sound amazing solo and rubbish in a mix. Maybe that's why some of you dont 'get' Sadowskys? Steve
 18.
I think the real issue I have with them is that I've never been amazed with Sadowsky basses. I've tried a bunch of the Metros that have come through Guitar Guitar and quite frankly, there have usually been better Fenders in the shop! Similarly, having played the NYC basses I can see that they are reasonably well put together but definitely not something I'd ever dream of paying £3000 for! But I suppose that takes us back down the "what is a jazz bass worth" road...
I find this strange and wonder if its down to the shop and their setup perhaps? I have owned about 7 metros and they have all, without exception, been superb basses and way ahead of most Fenders I have played.
 19.
I reckon the only way i'd buy another NYC is either direct from Sadowsky or second hand I'd say the only way to buy a metro is to get a used one! Much better value for money for around £1000 Lets not forget how much the exchange rate affects these inflated prices!
I would agree and say that I think the metros are THE best bass you can get for £1000.00
 20.
Unfortunately it's more a case of who you know rather than what you can do (same can be said for many other professions too). It's all about starting small and networking, networking, networking. It's a tough road, but if that's what you really want to do then you should stay the course. Good luck.
Although in the main I would agree with this I would also add that all the pro players that I know are *really* good and have obviously put the hours in.
 21.
From what I've seen the majority, though not all, of boutique gear never sees a gig. They're in many ways like brand new vintage basses, owning them is cool even if you don't really play. At least in the US many just hang out in the bedroom and noodle now and then.
I have had a lot of really nice gear and gigged it all!
 22.
Fender never stopped producing maple boarded basses, they just introduced rosewood in the early 60s.
So does this mean that the bass in question is a rare find or has he got it wrong do we think? I wonder what proportion were maple between 1960-66? All of the ones I have seen have been rosewood - Note that I do believe you as I have seen the 66 as an example! Steve
 23. Thats a wonderful looking bass :-)
 24.
Sorry, why should it have a rosewood board???
I thought all of the early 60 P basses were Rosewood boards although I stand to be corrected! If not then they are pretty rare! Steve
