  1. I saw an app demonstrated on instagram last week called Tomplay. It looked pretty good for people just starting out. I use MuseScore for my scoring. I’m pretty sure it works with TAB. You could transfer your TAB as an XML file into MuseScore and have it play back the file. Its MIDI instruments are OK.

  3. My dad’s hidden the hammer.
  4. It doesn't move about either.
  5. I'm really looking forward to Elton John’s last-ever performance. I'm not going to watch it, I'm just really looking forward to it.
  6. I've generally shied away from DIY luthiery. I'm quite pleased with this repair job though.
  7. Ignore that it says it’s a 5 string set; there’s a separately bought high C string too. Bought new about 2 months ago. They were used for barely an hour before I decided they don’t suit my current instrument.
  8. It seems Meta owned companies are really vulnerable to fraud. https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2023/jun/16/victims-speak-out-over-fraud-on-instagram-facebook-and-whatsapp
  9. Bands have been playing to sequencers since the 1980s. One that instantly springs to mind is Level 42 with their song ‘Hot Water’. It doesn’t sound at all metronomic or lacking in groove. I’ve done gigs where the drummer has been working from a click. The band just follows him. A good musician should be able to make anything groove.
  10. There are several websites you can use to calculate the fees the seller will incur. I’ll just pay whatever the extra is to ensure the seller gets what they wanted while protecting myself.
  11. I copied the specs from the Ciok website. I’m pretty sure it does do 12v though.
  12. As new, unused. I bought this new about a month ago. I was putting together a small pedalboard with a bunch of Darkglass pedals. I’ve had a change of mind and bought a Darkglass ADAM, that does everything the bunch of pedals did. Consequently, I no longer need a multi-way power supply. The Sol features the same switchable voltage outlets with four selectable output voltages as its bigger brother the DC7, SOL offers five outlets with up to 660mA max. power output at 9V each. This makes SOL the most powerful small form-factor power supply available today with a total of 30 watts of DC power on tap. As I said, it’s brand new, unused and never been mounted on to my pedalboard. The price includes postage.
  13. I don’t know, maybe the 2030s will be it?
  14. Used but in excellent condition. Bought from on here recently. I’m selling it because I’ve bought a Darkglass ADAM. The pedal produces a dazzling array of distortion sounds. It also works very well as a clean preamp.
  15. Boxed and in excellent condition. It would be quicker to say what this doesn’t do. I use it for recording into Logic Pro. It had a library of cab/amp sims to choose from, and works perfectly as an audio interface. Selling only because I have bought a Darkglass ADAM, which unbelievably manages to do even more.

  17. He is, according to this article, just the tip of the iceberg. The moral of the story is, if you’re buying something remotely, then use PayPal. I’ve bought a couple of things from on here recently. I didn’t personally know the guys I was buying from, so I used regular PayPal. I did though, pay a little extra so they received what they wanted, while I still had buyer protection. https://www.theguardian.com/money/2023/may/28/social-media-sites-wild-west-shopping-uk-bank-facebook-instagram
  18. Just a few weeks old, and used for 5 minutes. It’s sadly not to my tastes. In absolute mint condition.
  19. I’m sure we’ve all encountered guitarists who subscribe to this magazine. ‘F chord workaround: simply don’t play it when it comes around’.
  20. The size of your fingers is immaterial, it’s about technique. Apart from a brief reverse back to playing a 5 string during the first year of my degree, I’ve been playing 6 string bass for nearly 20 years. I would recommend having a few lessons from someone who plays a 6 string when you start, just to get comfortable with playing it. I think the reason why so many people buy 6 string basses and then sell them, is that they’re trying to simply transfer whatever technique they use on a 4 string instrument over to the 6. That won’t necessarily work, they’re very different beasts.
  21. You should hear the absolute racket my neighbour makes. It’s usually his TV, though the other night at 3am he was shouting, hammering and banging. Luckily, I was still up, playing my drums, otherwise he’d have woken me up.
