  1. Do audiences want Christmas songs at Christmas? If the place is full of people on a work’s night out or something then I’d say yes.
  2. Model 7051. Fabulous quality, offers really good protection for your instrument. Unused. Price includes shipping.
  3. I don't play an extended range bass for the lower notes, it’s so I don’t have to move about the neck as much as I would on a 4.
  4. I've owned a few. I’ve always been very underwhelmed by them. The 5 string USA built Marcus Miller bass was the worst of them.
  5. An original silver bodied model, in good cosmetic condition, and full working order. It comes complete with all cables and a soft carry case.
  6. I just went from a 2012 MacBook Pro to a new MacBook Air - I did a post last week about it. I’m using it for music production. As you say, the difference is night and day. Woosh and it’s done.
  7. I often wonder how many budding guitarists and bassists were put off playing after being given one of these by well-meaning parents at Christmas.
  8. Brilliant, thank you. My old MacBook was a mid 2012 model too, with just basic RAM, I never had a problem with it. I just went into the Apple Store in Birmingham, the guy there said similar to you. I’m guessing they’re on commission at the reseller, hence trying to get me to buy something twice as expensive.
  9. My ten year old MacBook Pro sadly died yesterday, so I need to replace it. I was looking at a MacBook Air with the M1 chip. It gets some very good reviews online with regard to using it for music production. I just went into my local Apple reseller and the guy there advised me not to bother with it, but to go for a new MacBook Pro; costing twice as much. So, can anyone using a MacBook Air M1 advise me please? it has to be a MacBook of some description, the music college I lecture at uses Logic Pro, it’s also my DAW of choice. I’ll get an educational discount, but would rather not have to fork out for a MacBook Pro if I don’t need to.
  10. Rothko. Stanley Clark had a second bassist in one of his bands a few years ago. I’ve played in a few electric bass duos.
  11. Thank you. I’ve owned several MB combos over the years, this is easily my favourite.
  12. Bought a month or so ago, and practically unplayed. It’s in excellent - like new condition. Comes complete with a decent padded gig bag. It’s well constructed from decent woods, plays and sounds really nice. It has a built-in pickup too. I’ve included a screenshot from the Tanglewood website that shows the full specs. I would for obvious reasons prefer not to ship it.
  13. This is in fabulous condition. It is a fantastic sounding combo. I had hoped to keep it, sadly I need to buy a new MacBook, so I need to sell it. It comes complete with a decent quality padded cover. I would prefer collection from Birmingham, but can ship if necessary.
  14. Brand new and unused. I bought it for a teaching job that I didn’t ultimately take. With a Flamed Mahogany back and sides and a Canadian Cedar top, it has a great tone. Rich, deep and resonant it projects beautifully and offers a premium tone. It's super light and incredibly stable. The Mahogany neck boasts a Pau Ferro fingerboard and provides a comfortable and smooth platform for both chord work and more traditional classical playing. Comes complete with a brand new Protection Racket gig bag.
  15. Is it a bass/guitar or a 4/6 string bass? If the former, then the scale length is surely very long for a guitar? if the latter, then why?
  16. There are various websites that are useful for finding students: Find a tutor etc. The good ones will require references and a DBS. It used to be the case that you had to apply for a DBS check through an organisation; I used to use the MU. If you’re teaching children and they come to your house, then every adult in the house will require a DBS check. It’s good to spend a bit of time in the first lesson setting out a written plan of what the student wants and how you’re going to achieve that. You should regularly refer back to that to check on progress. Make everything relevant to the student. You might like funk but your student is into metal. Use examples that they are going to find interesting and have a connection to. Be patient and have several different ways of explaining something. People learn in different ways and at different speeds. You need to find the route for each student to follow to learn what they need.
  17. I haven’t done a dep gig for a while now. I still have the folder with notated parts from when I was doing them regularly. I have 2 or 3 copies of most songs, in different keys. If I was to do one now then I’d convert them to pdf and import them into ForeScore. A lead sheet would be most useful if I was having to busk. In pdf format.
  18. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
  19. They cancelled. I’m waiting for them to rebook.
