1.
If you can pack these up and confirm the weight and dimensions (and it's not much different from quoted above) then I'll take them. I have a quote for a courier collection based on the info above and I'm happy to book it. Shep
The weight is right, I'll take them apart, bundle the parts together and get an exact size
2.
No they don't - what you're saying is just wrong. I've had international parcels delivered by all manner of couriers, it's only the USPS stuff that automatically gets delivered by Parcelforce.
True
3. I posted something the other week, on a Friday. I was paying extra for special delivery just so it was both insured, tracked and signed for. The girl in the post office said not to bother paying the (considerable) extra for Saturday delivery, because it almost certainly wouldn't be delivered anyway
4.
I was just checking these out, shipping charges came to $24 for a 4str set...does anybody regularly order from them and if so what is your approximate cost for a set or two plus shipping? Given that i'd be trying a new balanced tension style set of gauges i'd ideally like to just get one set and see how I get on! (i've also been playing around with some drop tunings, so hoping that I can go with higher tension at the bottom end and compromise some playability in standard tuning, to gain a bit in drop). Any thoughts very welcome, either on Circle K or other good alternatives for the Drop stuff! Cheers, Tom
I bought 2 sets a few months ago, you need to factor in VAT/import duty, and Royal mail's rip off fee. Great strings though.
5. Use google images it shows loads of photos of steinberger basses, none like that though.
6.
I can't vouch for the other two you mentioned but I'm a music student and commute around 3 hours each time I go to college and I use a Mono M80 Vertigo. The bag provides great protection and neck support for the bass. The pocket on front isn't overly spacious but does have enough space for a few cables, some books/laptop. Worth the money I'd say.
Snap, you must've been typing at the same time as me
7. I'm a music student and I've spent the last 2 years commuting from the Midlands to London 3 days a week. I use the Mono Vertigo, it's perfect for commuting, great protection and isn't too heavy.
8. The live DVD is pretty good, filmed at Matt Garrison's studio.
9. I like the way the machine heads are slightly too large for the headstock.
10. She must be as old as my Mom Looks good for her age doesn't she, or is that an old photo
11.
Use a pair of these myself - their excellent stands and this is a very good price.
They are really nice stands. I'm only selling because I bought a new desk the other day, and my monitors sit nicely on the desk.
12.
Any idea how much these would be to ship? May be looking for a set of these soon
I just measured them, they can be taken apart for shipping, and will be something like 40x90x20cm then. The weight will be about 10kg for the pair. They're at my parents house in Birmingham, postcode B72 1JQ. Feel free to get some quotes for shipping
13. Bump, because I'm being nagged about them being in the way

SOld.

Bump.
15. Your fingers are different lengths, the middle finger is slightly longer than your index finger, and slightly wider too with a bigger pad. Playing finger style, your fingers will always sound slightly different. It's just down to practice really, to even out the dynamics.
16. I have a Fishman Full-circle pickup fitted to my Silent bass. I just plug it direct into my Markbass combo. Would using a Fishman preamp make much difference to the sound ? It can sound a bit 'harsh' at times, but that may be the rather rubbish strings that are currently fitted to it. I'm getting some Innovations at the weekend for it.
17. I can happily report that I seem to be U2 free on both my iPhone and laptop
18.
That's because I don't think you can teach creative thinking. People either have the ability or they don't.
I disagree, creative thinking is something that can be taught, or shown. It's actually something we're born with, but forget how to do. Watch a very young child, they're full of creativity. My nephew is 3 years old, cardboard box can be anything for him, a car, a plane a spaceship. As he gets older though, it's something that he'll grow out of. Some people don't lose touch of their creativity, in fact they let it grow and develop, it's down to how they're brought up and what they're encouraged to do, the sort of household they grow up in. Everyone has the potential to be creative, they just don't know it.
19. 5 😊
20. The now thankfully departed education minister even wanted to take art and music out of the national curriculum.
21. You have to remember, one of the few industries (that's what music is), that's carried on making money during this recession is entertainment and the music business in particular.
22. Looking at some posts we need to concentrate on spelling a bit more Though saying that, where would I be without my laptop auto-correcting stuff
23. I read recently that music education improves a lot of other skills. It shouldn't be mandatory, but it should definitely be free and available to any child. 24. If you can play one major scale then you can play them all, the fingering is the same. Assuming you start on A 5th fret on the E string, move up a fret and you're playing Bb major, and so on along he string, moving up through the chromatic scale 😊
