1. Martin, Many thanks for an easy transaction over the BTA200 - and for a gargantuan beast of an amp. Top fella - as per his previous feedback, a pleasure to trade with. Good luck with your house move this coming weekend - rather you than me! I'll be playing bass through your BTA on Saturday morning practice and ruining the life of our guitarist!! Hehe. ATB Phil
2. [s]Hi, I've decided that effects are not for me, and don't enhance my woefully poor musicianship! BOSS OC-3 Super Octave £55 - make me a sensible offer! BOSS BCB30 pedalboard case with leads £15 Pedal has a few very minor scuffs and the odd paint chip, but other than that well looked after. All working of course![/s] All sold now, thank you.
3. Hi Sean, thanks for the review - I really rather fancy the 300W version to marry with that lovely Purple Chili cab I bought off of you. Think they'd be a good match? Watched Dan Veal's review on iguitar website and confirms my suspicion that this is the head I've been waiting for. I do love the flexibility of my little TC BH250, but whilst its a jack of all trades, its a master of none! Ta Phil
4. Bought Purple Chili cab from Sean, and what a lovely cab it is! This guys a gent, and his kit is obviously lovingly looked after. Pleasure to do business with and earns my warm recommendation.
5. Where are you based? The TTE500/compact is interesting me a lot!
6. Hi, does this have a horn or a piezo tweeter? I assume fully working. Tolex tears don't bother me - if still for sale I may be interested.
7. How long have you owned this amp and have you had any issues with the fan? (it was a problem on the version III - they had a tendency to overheat). If its still up for sale I may be interested. Cheers
8. I bought the ex-Frankfurt Musikmesse Spectra 4 string from eBay. For the money I paid I would have been happy if it had been mediocre, but thankfully it isn't. The price of the Delano pickups and and active EQ alone would have cost me more to buy than the bass itself. the fit and finish is as good as any far eastern made bass that you would typically invest £500-£800 in. It is the product of a big Korean factory who make a number of very high profile brands. The design authority however is entirely RMI's. I collected it in person from Mark Ramsay, and I have to say he really is the genuine article. He is passionate about building a small, boutique bass brand, and working very hard at it. He was a bit rueful at the price I paid (he didn't mind, thats life on eBay anyway), but he spent time setting it up and generally just getting carried away with his bass projects. seems he is attracting some serious players to his product. I recommend this guy highly and wish him enormous success. In a world of 'also rans' he seems to be genuinely trying to produce something different, exciting and yet not too expensive.
9. Nice. Thanks for responses folks, it might sound like a dumb question, but for a newbie like me its (I think) a valid one. And there is no question that 'try before you buy' is the best way to assess if it does it for you (or me). Good point made about blending dry signal with effect to restore any loss of low end in the bass.
10. Hi, I was watching this link on Youtube where the bassist for the Australian Pink Floyd Show, Colin Wilson, describes his bass rig http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E2FsNKGSPQU I was intrigued by his use of a Boss GT-10 guitar multi effects unit - his reasoning being that back in the days of Floyd there were no dedicated Bass effects, so guitar effects had to be used. Having heard them live I can say the bass sound is awesome, so its not detrimental to his tone. What do you think about the use of digital guitar effects (particularly the Boss GT-10 and its ilk) to enhance your bass tone? Is that a good idea if you are trying for a 'vintage' rock sound? has Colin got a point? I know Boss relaunched the GT-10 as the GT-10B for bassists - I wonder just how different they are. I assume the main difference with be amp modelling, but the effects? I like the idea of just one box for everything (hey purists - don't shoot!), and I rather love the Floyd sound, so would a nice guitar multi effects, say like the Boss GT-100 or the newly announced ME-80 work?
11. Hi, I have a Zoom B3 multi effects which I like very much, but I decided I wanted to use the expression pedal function. As you know, there isn't one on this unit, you have to invest in Zoom FP02 expression pedal, which compliments it perfectly...but... Can I find one anywhere? Not a prayer! All the dealers are out of stock in the UK and clamouring to Zoom for more - Zoom say they are on back order, no idea when they will get more... My question is this: What make of expression pedal can I use with the B3? have any of you had success with other makes? I note that the control input requires a stereo 6.35 jack cable to the expression pedal, so i guess the pedals with mono jacks are wired differently...the music dealers I have spoken to haven't really been able to help - can all you friendly lot on Basschat? Cheers
12. Hi all, Raw beginner at this bass lark...and only just about coherent when I pick it up - but my tutor is patient (she's used to teaching kids, not slow old gits like me). But keen to get into the scene and to interact with people who actually know what they are doing. Invested in my first bass from the Bass Centre - rather lovely looking green 'Bass Collection Jive Bass' (read Fender Jazz copy!), that sounds perfectly wonderful. Not the beginner way I know, but I treated myself to some serious amplification early on - Markbass Little Mark III head and twin 10" driver Markbass cab. Bottom line is it sounds gorgeous - until I actually play something, but that's another story... I live in south Hertfordshire and would be glad to be in contact with any bass - lovers in the area. Message me if you want to chat. I look forward to learning a lot from you people, and am eager to turn from rank amateur to slightly less rank amateur in 2013!!! All the best, Phil
