1. Gk do the mbe 212 which is a nice light weight 212, and is in the 300 pound mark new. For that size cab id get an 8 ohm version just so you can always expand on it. There wnt be a massive loss in volume between 4 and 8 ohms. First of do you like the sound of your 15? If so maybe add another 15? Personally i prefer to trust my ears so if a 210/212 and a 115 sound good then i forget the science. And just use them. Best thing to do is get out there and play thru some cabs.
 2. true yould be right before i had the 115 i did have a trace 1153 to beaf up the 12's sound. the 115 is a very nice cab indeed would like to grab another 112 i think and a cheapish power amp so i can have a stack of 12's with the 15. :-) and then later grab a 810/or a 412(i know hartke dnt make this) andy
 3.
I understand that they probably are a good bit better, however at the start of that clip they sounded muffled. But at the money they are asking I would prefer to get a secondhand really really good cab like vanderkley or bergantino. My overall preference would be a super12 but it is way out of my price range at the moment. Would either of the cabs sound muffled?
thats probs more the amp that the cab as you can see i use a swr head and its really sharp and clean, with a nice bit of bite much better than the video makes out andy
 4.
That's to reduce the floor footprint mainly
ok, still dnt really get how a stacked 210's out desperse a 610 or 810 tho but thats me i guess, go all jeremy clarkson bigger is obviously better andy
 5.
The Hartke Hydrive 112 is also one to consider. It has variable impedence as well - 8 ohm and 4 ohm. It gets good reviews.
this cab is unbelievably good! seriously worth the little bit extra as i know ill get slated for this but the lower range gk cabs didnt do it for me! the speaker is amazing too! and it 300w at either 4 or 8 ohms, rather than 200w i know this doesnt mean much but the hartke is a loud little cab andy
 6. nice well if you get the chance strongly recommend the hartke. also just to vouch for the fact they are well made! it flew from one end of my van to the other when i had to break suddenly! big bang cab is fine not even a scuff. andy
 7.
i know, but believe me the darkglass is the best i've heard. i'm still going to try that ODB mod though (although i'll be sending it to someone who knows wtf they're doing)
always best lol andy
 8.
A 6x10 (or the 4x10 with a 2x10 popped on top) has drivers side by side (regardless of what way you stack it, unless you put the 2x10 vertically on the 4x10). Putting drivers on the vertical plane narrows the dispersion. The wider the driver, the narrower the dispersion. Putting 2 10" drivers next to each other has the same dispersion as a 20" driver. You don't need to worry too much about vertical dispersion, infact it's probably beneficial if the sound isn't bouncing off the ceiling (like a single horizontal 2x10 would possibly do).
is this why in 412's (bass cabs anyway) the speakers are staggered? andy
 9.
A 2x10 + 4x10 (or a 6x10) would have more straight in front volume but with a poorer dispersion than the vertical stack. (that's assuming that the cabs are all from the same manufacturer's range).
im confused? a 610 is only in most cases a speaker lower than the 210's stacked no? andy
 10.
i'm a happy b3k user. but, i saw this a while back, and think i'll do this to my old ODB-3 after listening to the clips. trust me. http://www.talkbass....rything-856593/ the mod : http://www.monteallu...pedal_mods.html
its nice but with out guitars hard to judge, does sound better than a standard odb3 but not a darkglass at all! why is it so expensive!!! andy
 11.
Sounds good, always been interested in it but I'd feel I'd need the amplite for it too, power wise. For how cheap the hydrive cabs go fo it'd be do able. Are the 1x12's sealed??
Dnt get me wrong the headlite is no slouch keeps up with two loud guitars moderate drummer in my metal band and same but with a loud drummer in my pop punk band so its def loud im being greedy really wanting the amplite aswell lol. I cant see any ports so i think so, And with the tweeter which is switchable and the fact its a switchable between 4 and 8 ohms is very cool. Andy
 12. If your exchanging at a shop can you go and try them out? Go by ear if possible rather than getting set that you need matching speaker sizes.
 13. Headlite is awesome for how small it is! Awesome eq, the aural enhancer is nice but its defeatable if you dnt like it. And the onboard compressor is very nice indeed!! And its frickin tiny!!! Def gonna grab an amplite when i can afford it. Ideally id wanna keep the hartke cabs ive got at the mo and add a 810 or maybe lose the 15 and get another 112 so that ive got a smaller rig for my pop punk band but its a long way of really.
 14.
Sounds like a huuuuuge bargain!!! http://www.gak.co.uk...-610t-xb2/76749 has anyone tried 1? any good ? if so ...is it because it looks quite chuff :-D
jesus christ thats insane!!!! not played one but my bass teacher has genz stuff and all his cabs (a 410 and 212 ) sound awesome! i get it before the deal goes away? andy
 15.
I tried a 4x10 of these maybe 3-4 years ago and was un-impressed - it was a great sounding cab, as long as you wanted to go no lower than drop D at the lowest. I was in a drop-B tuned metal band at the time and so tried it out with a Stingray 5 and it just couldn't handle the low B, it wasn't great with a D either. Which was a shame as otherwise it was a great sounding cab - tight, rich and detailed just no good for my purposes. So, as long as you're staying in standard tuning these things are great - you really do get a lot of bang for your buck with Hartke.
thats weird i play in standard d tuning and do some drop c with my metal band and the 115 and 112 combo stand up to the punishment lol, the 810 had a lovely sound when i tried might nip back and try it using my headlite and see if the 400w is enough to drive it! im sure it will be! andy
 16.
I have one- made it into a vintage styleecab- now I always turn off the tweeter- with tweeters always seemed to scoop out the mids
Have u made it look like an ampeg do share a pic? Andy
 17. i was looking for a way to record my bass as in one of my bands we write stuff using google drive and emailing tracks to each other. couldnt afford a expensive firewire or usb interface, but i then found this online got it on a whim but it works really well record using audaicity, it took a bit of fiddling to sort out play back etc. but i plug it right into the di on my amp i do turn down the signal being sent thru the di but it gives a very nice clear recording and with audacity being a free download it cost me less than 10 quid to get recording and im thinking of doing some videos now using the webcam on my laptop. not as good as others but it gets the sound of my amp into the software also im guessing it would happily handle an sm58 put infront of the cab. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3M-Microphone-USB-MIC-Link-Cable-USB-Male-to-XLR-Female-/170615848476?pt=UK_Musical_Cables_Leads_Connectors&hash=item27b97f3e1c i have no connection to this seller and have only linked this so people can find the cable. andy
 18.
Dooooo iittt! Need a big house though, which I don't have
my house is small too but if im gigging all the time its an investment. i know the tolex on these cabinet rips easily that one has clearly been thrown around a fair bit.
 19.
mdf dude...go to a local joiners/exhibition builders the scrap litrely tons of the stuff, belive me iv help smash up 200ks worth of sets from a charity in london,i wont mention the 12k kitchen i burnt!!..tho it was aubegene!!,u have see the one on adverts on tv!!,any way the get rid of loads of wood and if u got the sizes, chuck em a beer token to route out the speaker holes for ya!! and ffs dont plug in 2 4ohm cabs ull fry ur amp...that gives u 2 0hm,ur cabs need to be 8 ohm each....unlees ur amp maxes at 2 ohm!!
think the superflys are similar to the little giant in that they have 2 amps in them basically so you can run 4 Ohms a side. andy
 20. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HARTKE-HYDRIVE-HX810-Bass-Guitar-Cabinet-8x10-2-000W-4-ohms-/110997491386?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item19d7f74eba if that cab wasnt in as bad condition i might be tempted! andy
 21.
Isn't 1000W enough for you?
no ;-)
 22.
Why not try and get a hold of a 4x10 andy? Should be a one cab solution, although a bit short (for me anyway I like speakers in the air near my head to deafen me.) An 8x10 went on eBay a few days ago for no more than £200 with postage IIRC. I should of had it. It only weighs 55kgs I think too, so it's not at all heavy compared to some.
like i said im only window shopping as ive got a very nice pair of hartke cabs atm, but the 810 was just a lovely rig! took me back to my old 610hlf but was much clearer with a lovely attack and punch. the 410 is nice but im only gonna change if my band gets a lot of gigs next year and i really do like the look of an 810! as i said if they made a 412 id be all over it! even a 212! andy
 23.
Thanks for all the replies guys. This is true, was just weighing up as at 235 for the Head thats cheaper than if I wanted to buy 3 effects pedals
really 235!!! blimey i might have to grab one! give it a shot i suppose it all depends on how much you use the preamp/ presets on the 750? looks like you'll lose tube tone and the compression? i might be more in favour of pedals or a two rig setup ;-) andy
 24. im guessing it would be a bit of a waste, as you'd have to use the 750 as a really expensive poweramp to get the tone print function from the 250. andy
 25. one thing i never did was try and move the cab. and doing a little diggin/window shopping! how having neo speakers can it only weight 5lbs less than a ampeg? is it the construction? andy
