That's really nice, the gold hardware looks really nice makes me think about putting gold hardware on my tobias (also bubinga), it's currently black and looks a little tacky.

musicman sub bass was £350 off the bay, some of which i paid for, and that spanned christmas AND my birthday (28th dec) and pretty much everyone in my family contributed towards it, it was near enough all i got bar a couple of 360 games. We're not that well off
That helps..... only slightly..... haha. Where do you guys get all the money for your rigs?
Christmas, EMA, dodgy dealings etc I get most of my money from selling gear and other stuff.... EG i sold my jay turser and put some money towards my tobias. I got my musicman for christmas, i put some money towards that too. I sold my behringer amp and put that money towards my ampeg, just bought my ashdown stack for less than the ampeg cost me so i'm selling the ampeg and that makes up the money for the ashdown. Plus i have a savings account, there's currently £500 but there should be about £900 because i keep loaning myself the money. It's kind of a good idea, interest free loan as long as i pay it back in again.

What does this tell you?
-
Ah, in that case i used to have one of them. Is yours incredibly heavy, Carl? Mine was, i didn't like it much but it was alright for a beginner.
-
Wow that's really cool, i like it, not too sure about the colours but it's a really clever idea and a fantastic time waster (keeps you quiet for a bit i mean )
-
much better, tonally it isn't quite as good but it's fine, i can get along with it. It definately has the volume i needed though, even with just the 1x15 cab, with both cabs it's a monster (well compared to my previous amps). The EQ has me on my toes though, 5 band, all those mids get confusing . I like it though, especially since now i'm using a stack if i want to just upgrade the amp i can, rather than having to upgrade the whole lot.
Ampless at the moment, need a new combo for practice and small gigs. £200 to spend. Who can recomend something for me?
Give me £220 and my ampeg is yours -
if the necks anywhere near as wide as it is on the squier P 5 string it's like an absolute spade.

update: The ampeg is being sold to a friend next weekend, and i'm only using the 1x15 in the ashdown rig at home, i'll use the full stack at practice/gigs. couple of pedals:

entire rig: new ashdown stack, and the ampeg is soon to go (i also thought i'd show off my basses )

Buying used and paying new prices
budget bassist replied to niceguyhomer's topic in General Discussion
That seems perfectly reasonable to me. At least they should be prepared to negotiate a discount for shop soiled goods. Assuming they're serious about wanting to sell it...
I've always thought that. On ebay or online they always sell stuff that's been in the shop front as "B-stock", but they never do that in the actual shop, even though i've seen a load of kids that don't know what they're doing with their greasy mits all over it. If it's been used AT ALL it shouldn't be full price, if i buy new, i like to be the first person to have played it. -

ah yeah i suppose you're right, but even so, what maniac does that to something that expensive!!?? And you'd be surprised.... carbon that thick is probably about as strong as steel of similar thickness...

Cash is not acceptable?!?!?!
budget bassist replied to thedarxide's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Yeah i won't send cash in the mail, that's just silly. If i use cash it will be in person and no other time. As gareth said, it can work well if you're careful, i've bought and sold a few expensive things and my mates are always like sam you should stop using ebay, you'll get scammed. Not if i'm careful, and i haven't yet. -
Anyone else think it would be a good idea for this to be stickied?

hercules all the way. VERY sturdy, VERY well built and VERY good design, really clever. May seem like a lot of money but honestly you won't regret spending a penny of it, highly dependable gear.
Actually the more I think about the whole not learning songs thing the more I realise just how unbelievably disrespectful it is.
Yup, it's even worse when the person that suggested them doesn't bother learning it! my guitarist did that recently. If anyone has heard into the pit by testament you'll know it's a fiddly song and really fast. not only that but the bass line is almost identical to the guitar riff so that makes it difficult on a 4 banger with wide string spacing and a much longer scale suffice to say i took ages to learn it and get it right, despite it being a bit of a challenge, and our guitarist turns up and goes "oh yeah.... doesn't it go something like this?" He then plays the first riff... and very badly at that because he hasn't even bothered learning it, even though he suggested it. GAH!! Also the fact that i hadn't even mentioned a song to learn and the two guitarists are still taking the piss to choose. I might just tell them to pick something and hurry the f*** up about it!
