1.
May well be the one I bought in May of last year. I found out that they`re not for me, so I traded it in Aug, and did notice Mark was selling it. Was a great bass though, a real player. I also bought a "real" Stingray, and there really was hardly any difference between the two. I`d recommend anyone wanting a Stingray to check these out.
2. Swapped a 50's Mexican Strat (birthday present from the misses)for a three band eq Sterling Ray34 bass
3. I got a white ray34 with the three band eq from a guy on here back in November and its just fantastic, a million times better than the original Stringray5 I had in the 90's which sounded fantastic but had moving neck syndrome
4. An IMC/Shaftsbury Ric copy i brought off a student of mine it was just awful wouldn't stay in tune and just sounded sh*t it looked good thou sold it a few days later
5.
I've still got my alligator combo, bought back in the early 90's. I used to get an excellent sound out of it when coupled with an extra 15" cab. British made, fitted with Volt speakers...mine was 200 watts, but I never got it much past half way, it was well loud. You're right about the weight though...hence why I don't use it anymore.
I used to put mine thru a Laney 4x10 which was also heavy and just gave up, It (The alligator) was great for bedroom blasting but terrible trying to cut thru the band I was in at the time which consisted of a stand up drummer a percussionist and an acoustic guitarist
6. worst combo an Alligator 300 watt (yer right) thing looked like a getto blaster with two 8inch speakers weighed a ton sounded sh*te,what was i thinking? worst heads a Laney G100 (poor mans Trace eliiot copy)loud and that was it ,the controls did nothing also an original 80's Trace eliiot GP11 head with the hard wood sleeve which broke down all the time but the UV light looked pretty worst cab Trace elliot multi stack 2x10 monitor shaped nightmare
7.
The problem with these two amps is that they try to be everything to everyone and don't quite manage to do anything quite right. The amp modelling is vaguely reminiscent of what they are trying to achieve, but, for me at least, once I've found 'my sound' then I'm really not wanting to change it.* The built in effects are pretty much on a par with most built in effects, that's to say pretty OTT and with a modulation setting that someone else has decided it needs. The power output figures, as often cited on BassChat, are pretty much meaningless (however I can categorically state that the HD750 was significantly quieter than the old HA3000 head I use as a generic 'no frills' backup head). The overall build quality was reasonable but felt a little cheap in places. Having owned one (albeit for less than 48 hours) I have to say it would take a lot of persuasion to get me to use one again. * Reminds me of a guitarist I once knew who was trying to decide between a Line6 or a Marshall. He tried them out and duly arrived at the next rehearsal with a Line6. He went through all the different amp\cab models and suddenly hit the one that sounded 'right'. It was the Marshall setting...
good pointers thank you
8.
I've had both the Line6 110 and the Line6 300, I loved both and with a bit of tweaking got some sounds I really loved (I only got rid of them because of moving up to the TC RH450). I loved the chorus and the distortion on them. The synth wasn't actually too bad once you figured out how to alter the sound. I managed a pretty passable "deeper underground" out of it. The 300 was bloody heavy though
yes I only want it for the Synth and the Chorus not really bothered about the amp bit
9. Bump Someone buy my Pals beautiful Cirrus because I really want it
10. That's that sorted then thanks for the heads up guys
11. Has anyone owned or own one of these amps and if so are they any good or just a gimmic? I'm drawn to the Synth and Chorus sounds for my 80's band and don't want to use pedals and I've got no patience for a multi effects board. The only Line 6 stuff I use the G90 wireless and thats great but apart from that I'm looking for a back up amp with some bells and whistles any help would be welcome cheers Lou
12. had the needle not move at all and the bass blasting thru my Ashdown Mag combo 1x15 eq all set to 12 o'clock

14. Also a good point is that once you buy a Letts bass you are not only getting home a great instrument you also have the back up and service from the man who built it *Just adding that this bass had a full service from Mr Letts back in November*
