  1. I think this is a p but it has a certain acoustic quality to it .the solo at the end (4.56) is killer
  2. Great stuff I like how you've done this..I'll have to have a go at soloing over it now..giant steps has always been very challenging for me ..does your bassline follow the chord roots ?
  3. That sounds totally out of order especially as you're clearly a great player..what the flip was that all about ?
  4. When I have tried the lighter MK type gauge string sets they did seem to make things easier to play but for me they lost some of the heavy funk and growl.. I think Victor Wooten uses quite light gauges.( 40 to 95 ) personally I prefer the 45 to 105 sets favoured by Marcus but I guess it all depends on what you want to do .
  5. In your playing i think I hear more players like Louis Johnson, Nate Phillips, Marcus as well as the uk scene with Tubbs and those great britfunk players..I don't hear the MK thing so much ..would that be right ? Also what happened at jazz cafe ?
  6. I'll take that as a yes then 😁... Was that one your own ?
  7. That's serious...I wonder sometimes if you're Mr X but then again you may be too funky 🤩...Is it possible you're Bootsy and Nate Phillips love child ?
  8. I don't know what your going on about half the time either but you definitely got the funk I love your playing ...I might get a 'Bootsy space filter 'to help me translate 🤩
  9. It's not really surprising he couldn't slap with those gloves !
  10. Cheers Lowdown I had thought it was earlier before Dion moved over here which had me thinking he surely must have informed the whole slap bass scene through touring with Marvin.
  11. Hmm just watched the vid and although I agree with the premise I gotta say I preferred it when they overplayed as it shut the singer up !
  12. Have you thought of becoming a reggae bass player [ less practice required ] Family man Barret has 52 kids 🤣
  13. Yes I find them slightly courser than daddirios too.. i put there longer life down to this ,however i have no idea if that would effect the life of strings
  14. Is that because they're all over 80 and can't remember their passwords ?
  15. Yes it's the red label ones I'm using too...i used to find roto's had an even shorter life than the dadarrios but now you come to mention it the roto's do sound more like the Warwicks
  16. I have been using 45 to 105 nickel round Warwick strings for a while on my jazz as they are cheap and I thought I'd give em a try... there great and the they last longer (especially the E ) than my usual faves dadarrio... Has anyone else found this ?
  17. Well I'm sure it's been shared before but possibly the stankiest stone cold hot funk masterpiece of all time is this
  18. Bleedin ell 119 replies to a question when a simple YES would of sufficed
  19. Hackney was the wrong side of London bit me when I lived in ...Hackney 😁
