1. I'm really after one of these for my board - if by chance anyone is looking to sell them please PM me, thanks. At the moment I'm making do with the octave setting on the bass synth wah
2. The bass by Joe Lally on this Fugazi album..... and all their other albums..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8Pf1jwMCuo
3. +1 for the H2N. I record our rehearsals, then bring out the sound with a bit of eq and reverb, sometimes a little compression in wavepad (free) with some VST plug ins (also free). You can really improve the H2N raw recordings in this way and with your presets saved in the software it's really quick. Other than that if you really want to just use your phone you might find the built in mic is fine - i had a galaxy s3 which was crap, i now have an iphone 5 which is much better so maybe the S5 has a better mic than older models. You could plug an external mic in to the S5 but if it's a normal vocal mic it won't be much better (if any)
4. This was the hottest place in Southend,on the hottest day of the year..... it was hot.....
5. I'd just like to give a shout out to Kim Coletta from Jawbox form the mid 90's. Awesome bass sound http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qKVqcgXN34
6. I love the sub octave of the digitech bass wah and some of the other sounds are great fun to play with so might give you what you're after in an envelope filter too in one pedal. I use a boss cs-2 compressor / sustainer which I love and I also have an MXR phase 90 which is a classic phaser (though the phase 100 has more tweaks on it - its on my wish list to balance the wet and dry)
7. Hi all - my band is playing at the DC in Camden on Thursday. We did this set on Saturday at The Railway Hotel in Southend: https://soundcloud.com/chasedbykarma/live-at-the-railway-180714 Alternative, post punk, experimental songs with lots of bass guitar effects my thing.... Take a listen and if you're in the area - come see us Thursday, thanks!
8. JamUp with Audiobus and Garageband is probably the best thing I use. Great for getting ideas down. I use JamUp instead of my board into a practice amp and it's got some great amp and pedal emulations. You can by a bass expansion package for £5.99 that gives you several different amp emulators. Recording into Garageband is great through audiobus. I only have the original irig adaptor which is a bit noisy with my passive j-bass (even though my pickups and controls are shielded and silent through my normal rig) so I'm wondering if the irig HD or the Sonic Port is any better in that respect - maybe someone can shed some light on this?
9. yeah looks like it could be but they have a characteristic wedge shape part where the neck joins the body
10. I stumbled across this youtube clip when I was explaining to a bandmate about the bass sequencing Trevor Horn did for Frankie Goes To Hollywood. I'm unfamiliar with this bass guitar - can someone enlighten me? Great little clip - well worth watching. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IBWY8oAnnww
11. I'm after a reverb pedal for my board and have the bass balls nano surplus to requirements/ I'm thinking £30 for the bass balls with cash on top for a reverb pedal.... if anyone's is interested. I'll also sell the bass balls separately if nothing comes of this so let me know if you're interested.
12. I totally agree - so much variation can be in the technique. It's never that I'm unhappy with my tone as such, but i'm always tweaking - i'm a geeky type in that way, always fiddling. rolling off pups, experimenting with pedal orders etc... i've been playing for 26 years and tone shaping is a part of being a bass player that I love
13. So just out of curiosity - Are you completely happy / settled with your bass tone - you plug in and play at rehearsals or gigs, maybe just a slight eq tweak for the venue? or are you the type that continually plays with your amp, pedals, set up, pup height etc always searching for something extra? Personally I'm the latter type - always fiddling with what I can, like i'm never satisfied and can always make improvements to my tone somehow.... Does type 1 even exist?!?
14. Thought you might like this: some early mixes of The Animals tracks have surfaced. Here's Pigs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUremkcVspE
15. I use the deluxe version - I love having the ability to change my tone during a song, and to bypass or engage my effects loop with one switch like a looper or line selector. One thing I'd like is a wet/dry knob for the effects loop. I use a few different sounds, from dry to dirtier (i love the overdriven sound from this pedal).
16. Pitchblack > CS-2 > Sansamp BDDI Deluxe > (FX Loop) BassBalls > Phase 90 > Bass Chorus Delux (Back to BDDI) > Big Muff Delux > DD-3 I don't always gig with this full board, and I'm always messing about with the sequencing. Powered by Diago Powerstation, homemade board
17. My 5 string Jazz Deluxe has one of these missing and for the life of me I can't find a UK supplier online. I think this is the right part: http://www.amazon.com/Fender-Deluxe-Locking-Guitar-Tuner/dp/B0025P9O82/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1384332711&sr=8-1&keywords=locking+tuning+caps Can anyone suggest where I might find these over here? Thanks
18. I stumbled across this video and thought I'd share it in case it hasn't been posted here before. If I could afford to, I'd have a new set of Rotosound Swings every gig - the bright tone is important in my sound. This is a quick method to brighten up the sound of your strings - I'm not sure whether it's a good idea to do this regularly (discuss below) but if you're strings are a little dead sounding, try this and see what difference it makes - it really works quite well. I have noticed that when I do this the brightness doesn't last that long - maybe there's some metallurgical explanation to this? Anyway - check it out.... 'Shlap the sh*t out of the Shtrings'... 19. My band Chased By Karma from Southend-on-sea https://soundcloud.com/chasedbykarma
20. OK, a bit of background. I've put together a pedal board to replace my ME-50B. On that, I used a delay for one of my band's songs where theres an experimental section where i used to sweep through the delay rate to get a pulsing / warbly sort of sound. The Digitech pedal isn't really cutting it - it's great for keeping the rate still and the reverse delay / loop feature is pretty neat but I'm just not getting on with it for what I really need it for. SO - i'm open to offers for a different delay pedal to replace this one. Talk to me....
21. I have my BF-2B up for sale / trade if anyone's interested. Surplass to requirements since getting an MXR bass chorus delux. It's served me very well in the past (since the mid 90's), solid pedal and unique sounding. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/219861-boss-bf-2b-flanger-electroharmonix-bassballs-nano/
22. ha ha thanks for pointing that out. Yes - BF-2B. It's from the mid 90's. Both pedals in good nic - the bassballs is like new.
23. I have these two pedals surplass to requirements. I'm interested in trading one of these for a Big Muff PI or both of these for a Boss CS-2. I'm willing to listen to any other offers Thanks!
