1.
You should complain about it
Well maybe I will, and while I'm at it I'm going to complain about people telling me to complain about things
 2.
I was actually complaining about people NOT complaining
I find that sort of attitude deeply deeply offensive
 3.
Yeah, thats what I think also. If your going to ruin it, I mean, change it and add a scratchplate, then I would choose black.
Aren't individual opinions great Seriously though - I wouldn't have bought this Bass on looks, it's the decent reviews (and the price that swayed me). I think Jazz basses without the pickguard look fugly, so when I recieve mine I will change it (and surely even if I decided to take it off again the screw holes that are left would make it look more "Jaco" anyway?
 4.
Black
Maybe
 5.
Well, just to be argumentative I would say that the chrome control plate sitting there on its own looks daft. If they had rear routed this and mounted the controls sans plate then maybe (although that would have increased cost). The whole thing smacks of "Jaco did it so it's THE WAY" kind of thing. To me it looks unfinished. To the OP - yes, remember to drill pilot holes. You have the luxury of a virgin surface to apply a pickguard to, no existing holes. Changing pickguards on a Squier is a nightmare of misaligned holes which need filled because no-one seems to be able to agree on where to drill. Or what angle sometimes. Make sure you get a pickguard which does not have the notch out for the truss rod adjustment at the neck heel, because you won't have one there!
Exactly - I keep looking at the pics and, well it looks like it needs a scratchplate - someone made a point earlier about the sunburst being quite light so I'm thinking maybe a lighter scratchplate (maybe pearloid?) would look better. I think I'll need to get it sorted though - I can't play a bass that looks like arse. (and in my opinion Jazz minus Scratchplate = arse)
 6.
Ish. Play it so that the edge of your fingertip is on the line. If you play it with your finger centred on the line, you'll be sharp. S.P.
I'll bear all of that in mind!!!
 7. I had a crackly pot on my ABM (the "gain" iirc) - Servisol worked fine.
 8.
Yep, but if he shipped it insured, we could all hasle him until he refunds and claims. A few phone calls and disturbing peices of rotten meat through the post would do the trick.
Sounds like a plan
 9.
If one of our products is damaged in transit, we are obliged to replace it. For this reason, we have insurance through parcel force and the like. If this guy didn't insure it, it's his own problem. Surely he is legally obliged to take it back and refund?
He should be, but as it's just a guy as opposed to a company I think it would be quite difficult to enforce without getting other people (ie small claims court invlolved) which is a lot of hassle - TBH though the guy should just do the decent thing and sort it out, but I guess he's just one of the many people out there that are utter, utter c**ts
 10.
Probably best to hold off on the scratchplate until (a) you decide to definitely keep it and ( you decide to use it at a gig. Having screw holes in it will probably harm its resale value by a few quid. S.P.
Good point - although I am pretty sure I'll be using it for gigs - I bought it for one song in our set that'll sound awesome on fretless (it is quite a simple line so I should be OK).
 11.
I imagine that any Jazz scratchplate would fit. You don't have to worry about the holes lining up, because the bass doesn't have any! You'd need to drill the pilot holes yourself. S.P.
I thought that would probably be the case. Can't wait (although I'm probably going to find I'm sh*t at fretless and sell it almost straight away after it arrives!!!!)
 12. I've just ordered one - should be with me at some point next week which is good BUT..................... I'm not sure I like the whole scratchplatelessness of them - how easy would it be to get a scratch plate to fit this? (I'm thinking tort would look nice)
 13. I have 1 - an Ibanez EDB700 which I love to bits Soon to be 3 though - This week I'll mostly be buying a Squier VMJ Fretless and an Ibanez SR506
 14. I think I'll have to try both before I make my mind up.
 15. Right - I'm in the market for my 1st 6 string - I've always wanted one and I figured I might as well get one now. I'm pretty much sold on Ibanez BUT I can't make up my mind between the SR506 and BTB676 - The SR506 is slightly cheaper 34" scale bolt on and seems to get glowing reviews and the BTB676 is 35" Scale and neck through and seems to get equally good comments!! As far as I can tell they have the same pickups/electronics so there isn't much between them there. tbh I think I'm more inclined towards the BTB mainly because of the looks and the slightly wider string spacing (17mm as opposed to the 16.5mm on the SR) but I'm not sure. Please help me make my mind up!!!!!
 16. Back up for sale again - I want a new bass, so this will have to go to pay for it!!!!!
 17. Right - I'm having a bit of an fx clearout as I've stopped using them completely - I'm loving the simplicity of just the bass to amp, although I'm still using a touch of compression so a rack compressor would be an ideal trade. I'm also after jazz pickups and maybe a badass bridge, but feel free to offer anything you may have to trade - the worst I can do is say no Marshall Jackhammer v good condition boxed £25 + postage This is a guitar distortion/overdrive pedal (it has 2 switchable modes) but it works really well with bass due to the fact it has a 3 band eq (with mid sweep!!!) - doesn't really do subtle but you can get some great sounds out of this. Ibanez PH7 Phaser - V good condition £30 + postage Really good phaser pedal this, really easy to get a good sound will do subtle to full on extreme "swirly" sort of sounds - also handles distortion really well. Doesn't seem to suck your tone either - plus it one of the "tone lok" pedals so the controls pop up out of the unit so you can change them and then you can push them back down again so you can't accidentally change the settings with your feet while playing!!! Behringer BLE100 Limiter/Enhancer - £10 + postage Great pedal this. seems to be a copy of the Boss limiter at a fraction of the cost!!! Boss ODB3 Some paint chips boxed - SOLD EHX Nano Bassballs - V good condition boxed SOLD Thanks Chris
 18.
pm sent
and replied!!!
 19. Right - I think I'm going to rewire my bass as passive again - so I have an excellent John East U-Retro deluxe 5 knob pre-amp up for grabs - the controls are Volume, Blend, Stacked Bass/Treble cut and boost, Stacked Mid Frequency/Mid cut and boost and passive tone - there is also a push/pull on the treble control for a "bright" setting and push/pull on the passive tone control for active/passive operation. These things really do sound amazing, but at the moment I have something like 3 different sets of EQ going on in my setup and need to simplify things a bit. Anyways, I'm after 45 quid plus a fiver for postage, or I might consider swaps for FX pedals especially a Wah. Cheers Chris
 20. I'm looking for a bass teacher at the moment - I live near Reading and work in Maidenhead so either of those areas (or anywhere in between would be ideal) Anyone got any recommendations? Cheers Chris
