@TKenrickagreed on all counts! Please don't think it was my intention to take any value or importance from theoretical knowledge. Obviously a well rounded musician needs theory & a good ear & for transcribing accurate identification of the key(s) is vital. I guess I was trying to say that I spent a hell of a lot of time trying to figure out the key sigs to songs I learnt & it never really got me anywhere. Just lots of frustration. I could get really hung up on it. At the time I believed that I had to know the key(s) to be absolutely sure that I knew the chords. Now I just hear the chords & the key has little importance in the situations I play in. Obviously everyone is different & anything I say here should be taken as my own experience & not as concrete fact. I'm waffling again! Hope that made sense tho, it nearly does in my head 🤔

I've been looking out for a 4 string to add to the heard & considered most of the usual suspects but I've since decided to try something a bit different to my norm. There's a Toby Renegade 4 on Andertons that I keep going back to look at but I know absolutely diddly squat about them. Sure I could use Google & then "I'd know everything about them" but nothing beats the good old honest'a'god hands on experience that's often found right here within this great community! So what'dya know? Anyone had/have one? What's the craic?

I can't offer you any resolve (see what I did there), all I have is my own meandering experience (thanks Baz Lurman) which is this. Have you seen that kids film Frozen? Well the premise is this, "let it goooo, let it goooo" I too went down the "what key is it" rabbit hole & it got me nowhere! I understand now that keys change all the time & the concept is nothing more than an explanation of sorts. If you ain't rocking "I'm too sexy" this weekend with the band without any rehearsal then it's irrelevant what the key centre is. If you are then just make sure the guitarist knows what you're gonna play (don't let that pre madonna dictate). Delving too deeply into that side of theory was nothing more than a headache to me. I found my time better spent developing my ear & "learning the language" (ommmmmmm)!

Usually I agree with @Deedee, that's why my Stingray is his (one of) old Stingray. However, I really like the colours just as they and I don't say that about many Ray's without maple boards! It's a cool lookin' bat!

@BigJHW Not wanting to sound like I'm teaching you to suck eggs but is the string all straight with no twists along it's length? I've not heard of a BB having balance issues before so I'm at a loss for suggestions but I did once accidentally get a twist in a string on one of my Laklands & it did rob it of volume & sustain. I can't imagine why you'd want to change pickups in a 1025! They're the best sounding PJ configuration I've ever heard 😍

Thanks Bolo, I'm on the NHS waiting list but I have seen the occy health psychiatrist & I'm now considered neurodivergent until proven otherwise. Thanks everyone for all the great advice, I've got flares & happy ears coming in the post & another brand that I can't remember. The ACS plugs look like a safe long term solution! Thanks again!

I experience ear fatigue as a muffling of sound & discomfort accompanied by the persistent urge to find silence. I had completely missed those in my search for daily's. I've ordered the discovery pack! Cheers!

I quite like the look of those, & I've learnt what the occlusion effect is 😁 Not wishing to be rude & do feel free to tell me to nob off but can I ask if you wear plugs for protection only? Only asking to find out if they reduce ear fatigue.

Recently I've discovered that I'm highly sensitive to sound & light to the point of living in a perpetual fight & flight state all of my life. It's most likely a part of a bigger issue that's yet to be formally diagnosed but anyways, that's the background info. I've been trying various ear plugs for daily use & I have settled on my favourite brands. No understatement but this has literally changed my life! What I'd like to ask the greater BC community is for recommendations on plugs (passive only please) that are suitable for gigs, rehearsals & practice under my over ears? I have tried my daily use ones under my headphones but not yet at a gig & they are ok. They keep fatigue at bay & I don't trigger any kind of negative response. I'd ideally like a separate pair designed for loud environments with as much neutral response as possible. They are more expensive tho so I can't afford to try lots of different brands. If you have a pair you use & like please share your recommendation & why it is you like them. I know we all hear differently so I appreciate that I may experience any recommendations differently but I'd appreciate the input! Ta!

Imagine the scenario, you've been playing with the order of your pedals during the week & at Fridays gig you feel like the GOAT (ask the kids) cuz you know your new sound is gonna blow everyone away! But you plug everything in, you look as cool as the proverbial cucumber then you go to sound check & theres no signal getting to your amp! You check over everything convinced that you've set up the signal chain just like you did when playing at home, you scratch your head, you begin to feel heat building up in your face & you know your cheeks are going red! Then, the drummer looks over your shoulder & says "you've got there input & output backwards on your tuner mate"! THE DRUMMER!

@fleabagjust as well mate, happened to me once & at first I felt like I'd won the lottery then the guilt set in & I had to do the right thing.
