  1. I wouldn't be surprised if you end up with the refund & the item you cancelled 😳
  2. I have Big Singles with black covers on one of basses & was thinking cream covers would look great. Anyone ever changed Nordy covers before? A quick search of the Goog was fruitless.
  3. I'd love to try a Status neck on my Stingray! Gutted that they'll be rarer than hens teeth now.
  4. @obbm, @Frank Blank, great posts thank you! I used to fantasise about growing up in one of the "great musical eras" & what it must've been like. It wasn't until later in life that I realised I did come of age in a "great musical era", the 90s!
  5. I'll add that history is definitely repeating, my eldest son likes pretty much everything I like, even the lesser known bands like Dispatch & The Werks & The Horrible Crows. I took him to his first Chili's gig in Manchester last year & that blew him away! My youngest son likes Queen, Bowie, The Beatles (which I take full credit for 😁) plus a whole lot of crap that I think they call "grime"?
  6. My mom played keys & had an organ in the dining room, probably didn't realise at the time but I loved hearing her play. She's responsible for my liking of Deacon Blue, The Waterboys, Bob Marley, Enya, Elvis Costello to name a few. When I was DJ'ing in the clubs in my late teans she developed a liking for house music so I guess it was a two way street. *Edit, my mom is also responsible for my username, I was dubbed "HorizontalSte" on account of how much lying down I did 🤣
  7. I'm sat in my kitchen right now listening to Brother's In Arms, the great album from Dire Straits & this got me thinking. I was only a kid when Mark & co were tearing up MTV but this particular album is so ingrained in my subconscious that I can't help smiling & tapping a foot whenever I hear it. My love is born out of sheer exposure as a kid. I was fortunate enough in that my parents had a great & varied taste in music & our house always had something great coming from the speakers. So just for fun, what were you listening to as a kid that has stayed with you into maturity? (I use the term maturity very loosely 😁)
  8. Ok, an update just in case anyone's mildly interested 😁 I've had no luck finding direct replacements so I decided to look around for a close match then either adapt the mountings to suit or failing that look at 3d printing or crafting something from a nice bit of wood. So I've had them apart tonight to take measurements & better reference photos then I decided to plug them in & mark the dodgy one with a Chinagraph pencil. I wired:em up & loaded my "headphones playlist" & as luck has it they sound amazing! I couldn't crank them up but I couldn't hear the scratchy muffled sound that I heard before. Maybe taking them apart had fixed whatever the problem was. Time will tell. They sound so much better than the Cambridge Audio ones I've been using for the last few years. Much deeper to my ears & they fill there room.
  9. I don't tell them anymore in case they let it slip to my Dragon, she doesn't know the half of it & I'm pretty sure it's best that it stays that way 😁
  10. That just gave me and idea, maybe @pedshould start a another internet thingy................. basshub anyone? 😂
  11. Looks & sounds really good to me! Nice score, enjoy!
  12. Playability & QC issues aside, is this conversation happening partly because we all like to spend as much time looking at basses as we do playing them? I'm guilty, if I'm in the lounge there's one in a stand to perv at & another in the bedroom! & If I'm brutally honest, there's probably more bass photos on my mobile communications device than the are kid photos (my own kids, let's not go there 😁).
  13. I sent a £1399 Lakland Skyline back last year because of a neck misalignment. GG checked their stock & they were all the same so I had my money back. My other two Skylines are perfect.
  14. I used a countersunk brass one that I found in my box of bits'n pieces. Pretty sure there's another in there somewhere so if you pm me your address I'll stick it in the post!
  15. Did the same thing to one of my BB's! edit* 614 will have an Allen truss rod tho so not sure if that might change things!
  16. Not at all what I'm into but man I really enjoyed that performance! Thanks for sharing!
  17. Cheers fellas, I've had a reply from Mordaunt Short & as I expected they're unable to supply replacements dude to their age. I'll message the eBay seller for measurements! Stay tuned!
  18. No Warwick? Must try harder 😂
  19. I'll nip over to the website now & see if there's a contact email. I really would like to get'em back in use.
  20. Cheers for the input so far! I've opened them up again tonight & I'm not sure why I thought there were no markings on, cuz the part number is there for all to see! 🤦🏻 Anyways, he's what I've found,
  21. I did remove the tweeter ages ago but couldn't see any be distinguishing marks! I'll have another look when I get home!
  22. Ok so not bass related but I'm askin' anyways! I have a pair of Mordaunt Short bookshelf speakers, I've had them for over 20 years & they're still in great condition. However, one of the tweeters sounds like it's bit the dust. I've searched online for a replacement with no success & I'm reluctant to contact the manufacturer due to their age. So, does anyone know "a guy"? (Or gal) who might be able to help? Ta
