1. I know it sounds a bit crazy but has anyone tried it? The YouTube demos sound pretty good on acoustic guitars

3.
If I can sell enough to buy it I'd love it, after something that I can distort to f*** and have some nice clean percussive top end on the top of, with all those controls it looks perfect for making some really disgustingly heavy sounds. It looks about as versatile as you could possibly need for anything more sensible then that too. If anyone takes my albeit awesome but nowhere near as flexible VBA400 off me I'm in.
It does overdrive really well, the gain switch on footswitch can boost the gain in a very useable mesa kinda way. the gain switch can be set to either mute or boost gain, set to boost gain and whack gain on full you can have 3 channels clean, dirty and filth, doesnt get easier than that Dave
4.
Always wanted one of these ! Good luck with the sale !!
Thanks
5. Mesa Boogie M2000 head 600 watts into 4 ohms, 600 Mesa watts are HUGE watts I’ve tried a lot of amps over the past years and nothing comes close to the heft and presence of the tone, somehow is manages a real tight focused punch that slams through the mix without cranking it to a level that drowns out the others in the band, it really is a monster of an amp It looks like a bit of a nightmare with all the knobs and switches but basically its 2 completely independent preamps into one very powerful mosfet power amp. There is a tube preamp and a solid slate pre that can be selected individually or blended. 2 independent compressors one for each channel. The compressors are really cool and sound perfect and can be set for the style of the tone for each channel. The channels can be set however you like but I ran it with one giving a thick fat juicy tube cannel and the other a modern sparkling clear tone and then blended together gives amazing results, 3 completely different voiced tones selectable by the footswitch. It includes the footswitch which are getting quite rare to find these days but the footswitch really opens up the amp for live use. These M2000’s do run hot, I confirmed this with Mesa support and I had fitted a 2[sup]nd[/sup] fan to the rear head to help increase the airflow which I does well. I can remove the extra fan if you would prefer it bog standard/ Comes in 4U high quality rack case I’m only selling as I’m only playing double bass live these days so this is just sat around not being used. I’ve got a pdf copy of the manual, it’s still available on the mesa website or I can email it to you. Not really looking for trades unless is for DB focused amps PJB etc I’m based in Worcester and recommend coming to try it out. I do travel about a lot for work so probably could deliver to most areas to save the cost of shipping a heavy amp
6. Schaller DB mag pickup model 411 I was playing DB in a loud band with a full on drummer I got this to stop feedback after hearing some great recorded clips of a mag pickup. I didn’t check before i got it but it doesn’t work with Velvet garbos and there is just no way I can bring myself to take the garbos off my bass. So I decided to get rid of the drummer instead of the strings and replace her with a cajon player and now the mag pickup is surplus to requirements Unused and never fitted so it’s in as new condition. Thomman sell em for £92 so i think £65 including postage is a bargain and at that price you can try one and see if you like it
7. I bought a super duper cable from Geoff, arrived next day. Cant get better than that! Thanks
8.
Nice to hear from you Nugget !! Whats happening ? Got any builds going? Orra best Ian M
Hi ian making one right now, 2 waiting to start, maybe one interesting EUB THEN i get to start on 1 or hopefully 2 secret projects....... Loving your work as always, super attention to detail and really nice wood choices. Dave
9. SWR 220 head for SOLD I've been using this as a backup for pub rock band where its been plenty loud enough for a heavy hitting drummer and 2 rock guitarists, dont let the 220watts put you off. I've also been using it for all my double bass gigs where it really has excelled. Recently it has started to squeal at high volumes (fine at moderate volumes), a high pitch whistle, i though it was the preamp valve so i put a new one in but its still doing the same thing so it's being sold clearly for spares or repairs. I've had it for years now and it's a superb amp, very very flexible tone and until now been totally reliable so well worth fixing it up i just havent got time to do it. The amp itself is a bit tatty around the case but all knobs and sliders work perfectly. Any trial welcome in Worcester £10 postage
10.
Wish i had the funds argh
I know that feeling... sell some stuff and give me cash so i can buy the D600 amp
11. Ohh there is a very tempting PJB D600 for sale on here, i might consider SENSIBLE offers on this while the D600 is still for sale Dave
12. Ive just ordered a mag pickup for exactly the same reason. Piezo when quiet gigs and Mag for loud fun crazy stuff, listening to Simon's recordings made up my mind! Just got to change out my gut G now
13. I'm 20 mins from you, pop on over and have a go on some 5's. I'm not trying to sell anything just come have a coffee chat and a jam
14. You mean the piece of maple between the neck and body? what does it do..... makes it look pretty........
15. I've got a notch filter on the headway (and HPF and phase switch) i'll give that a go, the audio tools analyser looks like a good idea to. I've played DB in a rock n roll band before an have always got reasonable tone at high volume just by slightly cutting relevent frequencies on the amp and the HPF/phase switch on the Fdeck. I did the same this weekend but had to cut more and more aggressively to a point where I though i might get a better tone with steel strings and mag pickup. The more i think about it i'm not sure it wasnt more to do with the room, its a new practice room, the small drum kit with a light hitter sounded bloody loud (and i'm used to playing elec bass in a pop/rock band with a fairly hard hitter) I think i'm shying away from Mag as i love my strings so much when playing unamplified at home, no more string GAS. I might suggest we reherse somewhere else even if for a one off before doing anything drastic. Thanks Dave
16. full circle and also got fitted one of those cheap ebay wing mounted things Headway pre or (better) fdeck clone
17. I know this question comes up all the time, but this is a bit specific (in my head) I have started playing in an acoustic pop covers band, super fun stuff, loads of energy and VOLUME with a drummer playing a full kit, it’s only a small kit and the girl doesn’t hit em too hard but they seem quite loud for their size and how hard she’s hitting them so I need some fairly serious volume. I recently picked up a PJB 8b cab which at home I can get the best DB sound I’ve ever had and very very happy with it at sensible volume, however, obviously at high volumes I’m having to cut quite a bit out of the eq to beat the feedback and can get loud enough but still fighting feedback a bit but obviously the tone is pretty pants. I’ve read a lot no here about schaller mag pickups, so it doesn’t sound like a DB, but then neither does my piezo at high volume. SO just at high volume would a mag sound better / fuller than piezo? I know that’s hard as you don’t know what mine sounds like but has anyone had experience with changing to mag in a similar environment? My current strings wont work with mag and I LOVE my strings so that’s another negative to switching over. Are there any youtube clips etc of mag pickups in a full band situation Would it be better to go IEM just for bass and position my cab away from me (other side of the drums)???? Either way is gonna cost some money I don’t really have so I thought I would ask here before taking the plunge.
18.
Can't believe it's still here Dave! Gorgeous. I hope someone buys it before you go to ebay, I just sold a bass on there and got fleeced! Still it was my choice to do it. GLWTS mate.
Thanks Oli, i do still buy bits on ebay (yesterday picked up a PJB cab for double bass) but i also HATE selling anything on there Dave
19. one more bump before the perils of ebay *** Might tempted with cab+cash trades also now***
20.
Wow this is still here. Lovely p 5er
Thanks - yes its still here, it's bloody hard leaving it at home when i'm out gigging
