No gig in the diary for the 18th and I'd be interested in coming along (subject to the infinite perversities of life, the universe and everything of course). I'm a newbie when it comes to 'Bass Bashes'. Do I need to confirm or otherwise my attendance and who's the best person to contact for more info and answers to my dumb questions? Chris.
3. 95% Plectrum (Dunlop Tortex 'Purple' or Ernie Ball 'Hard') + 5% Fingers.
4. Hi CK - How much for the bridge unit? (assuming it's for sale of course).
Yes, its an integrated 5 string unit rather than separate units.
5. Little Feat - 'Spanish Moon': Kenny Gradney just grooves on this track. Greg Lake Band - 'Love You Too Much' and '21st Century Schizoid Man': Trevor Barry doing exactly what's necessary. Peggy Lee = 'Fever': Don't know who played it but it's the sexiest bass line ever recorded. And three by the Ox: 'Won't Get Fooled Again', 'My Generation' and 'Call Me Lightning'
6. 1 John Entwistle (THE bass Guitarist) 2 Charles Mingus (Soulful, moody and charismatic) 3 Kenny Gradney (The groove behind Little Feat) 4 Trevor Barry (Makes ability look so easy) 5 John Myung (Technique with feeling)
7. Hi All. My current speaker set up is Mesa Engineering Powerhouse 2x10 and 1x15 cabinets. (Amp is a Warwick ProFet 5.1) I've recently checked out the Schroeder website and it's set me thinking about maybe going 'light-weight' so I'd be interested to hear comments from any BCers who have used Schroeder cabs - I guess I'm thinking of the 21012 or the 210212. Looks like the UK distributor is SHX music in Brighton, which is a bit of an excursion from Oxford - so it would be good to hear any comments, opinions, thoughts and experiences from existing Schroeder users before facing the A34 and other selected highlights of the South-East road network. Cheers. Chris.
8. Other STATUS STEALTH II (5 String) Take it easy. Chris.
9. NUFFINK - But thanks for asking!!!! I'm quite happy with bass guitar + amp + speakers and a few leads. Chris.
10. Definite touch of Deja Vu here. So Bassworld became Basstalk has become Basschat - and it's good to see some familiar names from the earlier sites. I've been visiting for several years now and I echo the sentiments of others in that this site is a mine of useful information, informed opinion, entertaining threads and thought provoking comments. More power to the elbows of those who make this site happen and long may it continue. ME: Home is near Oxford, I'm on the bus-pass side of 54 and I've been playing Bass on-and-off since I was 16. BASS HERO: John Entwistle. As far as I'm concerned there ain't nobody comes close to The Ox. GIG-RIG: 5 String Status Stealth II (Red Tint, Headless, Red side LEDs), Warwick amp and Mesa speakers - which all combine to make a rather nice noise. I'll post some pics of the gig-rig in the near future. Meantime, take it easy. Chris.
