7/4? thats devil talk.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO ! ! ! ! ! ! Listen to Dave Brubeck's awesome 'Unsquare Dance' which is in 7/4, a glorious time signature and a simple bass line but stay focussed or you lose it. Incidentally there's a video on YouTube of a Tap Dancing sequence to 'Unsquare Dance' - I think it's amazing. The most tedious bass line i've found/played is Fleetwood Mac's 'Albatross' (AKA Albert's Truss, Alba-dross etc) - 3 minutes or so of E - F# - E. Whenever I play or hear it I lose the will to lose the will to live. Chris.

Mornin' all. SOLD SOLD SOLD [s]FOR SALE[/s]:4 x READING FESTIVAL 2008 WEEKEND TICKETS + 4 x EARLY ENTRY TICKETS My daughters and their partners will not be able to go to the 2008 Reading Festival - so I have 4 Weekend Camping Tickets and 4 Early Entry Passes for sale. I ordered the tickets in the first wave of Early-Bird tickets released immediately after the 2007 Festival. I'm not interested in touting or profiteering, just looking to recover my outlay - so here's the package deal. 4 x Reading Festival Weekend Tickets (Standard weekend tickets with standard camping included for Friday 22nd, Saturday 23rd & Sunday 24th August 2008. Campsite opens Thursday 21st August 8am.) PLUS 4 x Early Entry Tickets (Early Entry Tickets allow you to enter the campsite from 6pm on Wednesday 20th August. You must also have a VALID weekend camping ticket.) [s]The whole package for £657.90[/s]. [s]Buyer collects from Abingdon/Wantage Oxfordshire or add £5 for Royal Mail Special Delivery.[/s] (Yes I know it's an odd amount, but that's what shows on my Credit Card Statement and it covers all the handling and shipping charges to my front door so that's what I'm looking to recover). Drop a reply here if you're interested??. Chris. A few things to note - please read: This is a private sale and I have no connection with the Reading Festival, any ticket agency or outlet (other than as a customer). The 4 Festival Tickets and 4 Early Entry Tickets are offered for sale as a package. These tickets are not offered or advertised on any other forum so Basschat members get the first opportunity. I do not have the tickets 'in hand' but from past experience, they should be delivered to my home address by courier 7 - 14 days before the festival. The tickets are offered on a 'First Come - First Served' basis at the price shown above.

Nice one - especially if the set includes 'A Hard Way To Live' which is my favourite Deke Leonard number ('Four Day Louise' by Man comes a close second). Can't get to the gig, so good luck and enjoy. Chris.

Can I add my name to the list please. Mucho gracias amigos. Chris.

No gig in the diary for the 18th and I'd be interested in coming along (subject to the infinite perversities of life, the universe and everything of course). I'm a newbie when it comes to 'Bass Bashes'. Do I need to confirm or otherwise my attendance and who's the best person to contact for more info and answers to my dumb questions? Chris.

95% Plectrum (Dunlop Tortex 'Purple' or Ernie Ball 'Hard') + 5% Fingers.

Hi CK - How much for the bridge unit? (assuming it's for sale of course).
Yes, its an integrated 5 string unit rather than separate units.
Little Feat - 'Spanish Moon': Kenny Gradney just grooves on this track. Greg Lake Band - 'Love You Too Much' and '21st Century Schizoid Man': Trevor Barry doing exactly what's necessary. Peggy Lee = 'Fever': Don't know who played it but it's the sexiest bass line ever recorded. And three by the Ox: 'Won't Get Fooled Again', 'My Generation' and 'Call Me Lightning'
-
1 John Entwistle (THE bass Guitarist) 2 Charles Mingus (Soulful, moody and charismatic) 3 Kenny Gradney (The groove behind Little Feat) 4 Trevor Barry (Makes ability look so easy) 5 John Myung (Technique with feeling)

Hi All. My current speaker set up is Mesa Engineering Powerhouse 2x10 and 1x15 cabinets. (Amp is a Warwick ProFet 5.1) I've recently checked out the Schroeder website and it's set me thinking about maybe going 'light-weight' so I'd be interested to hear comments from any BCers who have used Schroeder cabs - I guess I'm thinking of the 21012 or the 210212. Looks like the UK distributor is SHX music in Brighton, which is a bit of an excursion from Oxford - so it would be good to hear any comments, opinions, thoughts and experiences from existing Schroeder users before facing the A34 and other selected highlights of the South-East road network. Cheers. Chris.

NUFFINK - But thanks for asking!!!! I'm quite happy with bass guitar + amp + speakers and a few leads. Chris.

Definite touch of Deja Vu here. So Bassworld became Basstalk has become Basschat - and it's good to see some familiar names from the earlier sites. I've been visiting for several years now and I echo the sentiments of others in that this site is a mine of useful information, informed opinion, entertaining threads and thought provoking comments. More power to the elbows of those who make this site happen and long may it continue. ME: Home is near Oxford, I'm on the bus-pass side of 54 and I've been playing Bass on-and-off since I was 16. BASS HERO: John Entwistle. As far as I'm concerned there ain't nobody comes close to The Ox. GIG-RIG: 5 String Status Stealth II (Red Tint, Headless, Red side LEDs), Warwick amp and Mesa speakers - which all combine to make a rather nice noise. I'll post some pics of the gig-rig in the near future. Meantime, take it easy. Chris.
