1.
Occasionally I scare the drummer.... 'Turn it down, it's going straight through me!'
Nice
2. Anyone out there using a big valve monster through a BareFaced? I'd be interested in your reaction to the change, what differences there were, any thoughts related to this. I've just ordered a Big Twin 2.

4.
Also... after noticing your signature; BB2024X, way better than a 1024X?
The BB2024x is comparable to a Masterbuilt Fender, a Shuker or a Sadowsky, it's really up at that level of quality and finish. The wood treatments seem to make a difference and although I was originally cynical, the vibration process of distressing all the components and surfaces works. I checked with our chief boffin in work and he explained it to me. The pickups (which are the same as on the 1024) are astoundingly good. It's probably the best product I've ever owned and it's tattooed on me (the tat's award winning and magazine featured) - pics of which are on here somewhere. The BB2025x is slightly more aggressive sounding and wipes the floor with any other 34" 5-string I've ever played.
5.
Cheers, how much did he charge if you don't mind me asking?
£180 but that was with double stringers. I think plain would have been £150.
6. Hi all I've got a pair of Celestion Truvox 1225 speakers for sale http://www.bluearan.co.uk/index.php?id=CELTF1225 They are 250W and 8ohm, good working order with low mileage. You can have the pair for £50 cash on collection. Collection from Gloucester only. I haven't got packing to suit and by their very nature they aren't the greatest things in the world to post. Cheers Sean
7. Get in touch with Jeff at Matamp, he'll do you one. I got one last week, it's fabulous.
8. Original song from Outlands. Only the second time we've played it so it's a bit scruffy. Recorded on a Zoom H4 this afternoon. https://soundcloud.com/seanfunk1/someone-like-you-jan18

11.
Unless it makes you feel safer, I wouldn't bother with spare valves. I rehearsed and gigged a 400+ for over ten years without a single issue. I did completely re valve it a couple of times but it never died at a show. Only time fuses went was when the usual dicks with no gear who used it switched the power and standby on and off at the same time. (You can tell I'm not still bitter about it) Having had a 2024x and a 400+ but sadly not at the same time I can imagine that will sound great. Put it on a big cab and it will take down walls! I'm jealous now.
I never share gear so I won't have the abuse issue. I carry a DI and we have a big PA so I reckon I'll be just carrying fuses. You're right about the sound with the Yam, the 400+ just loves those pickups. I'm hankering for a really big cab. I've tried all the lightweight Class D stuff and for me it was alcohol-free beer versus a pint of Fullers or the difference between electric cars and rear-wheel drive petrol engined V8 muscle cars, the weight is a small price to pay for all that endless tone and chest-crushing heft that the big valve amps throw out.
12.
I'd be onto 2 CN112 cabs in a flash if they came up for sale.
You need an amp that thrived on 2 ohms if you ran em both.

14. I like what you've done with it, sounds very natural to me. You can almost hear your patience in it, I know from recordings I've been involved with that if you rush stuff and don't pay attention to detail you can hear it later and it leaves you wishing you'd done it right - that might be BS but it makes sense to me. All's good cheers. I think I'm slowly evolving into you as far as rigs go; I was at Matamp on Saturday and can definitely feel a GT200 in my future; I still love this 400+, though. I am hankering after a big big cab too. There's something magical about meeting the guys who build the stuff and spending time with them and the supporting British craftsmen thing is pretty special when the gear is so good. Jeff is a gem.
15. I really like it and it's a great follow up to the previous album. I remember the guys (Tim, Steve and the drummer, sorry can't remember his name) in Indifference years before Argonaut and I think what differentiates them from a lot of bands in this genre (I really don't like using that word) is that they are genuinely passionate about the music they make and care about what it sounds like and that it represents them and not that they are in a band cos it's cool. They don't rush at it and take the time to get it sounding really good, or at least that's the impression I get from listening. I have Frustnation and Bridges of Blood (from the first album) on a playlist I use for when I'm driving back from gigs late at night. If you get the chance to see Argonaut live, go. I haven't seen the guys play for a few years but I ought to make the effort soon enough. Corking stuff, Tim. Well crafted. [my longest post for years] :-)
16. :-D I've got Amsterdam x2 , Milan, Trieste, Berlin, Stockholm, Oslo, MK, Leeds. All on my motorcycle so unless I have a massive windfall...
17. Awesome. Jeff is a bass hero of mine and PJ my favourite band ever. If I wasn't spending all my cash on going to 9 of their shows this year, I'd be all over this. Good luck with the sale :-)
18. Awesome pickups and make so much sense when married to a big valve amp.
19. Sold Paul a magazine. Nice easy deal. :-)
20. Rob bought some strings from me. Great bloke, easy transaction.
21. I've just found some more! Issues 6, 33, 35 - 65, 76, 79, 84, 87 (some are duplicates). Some are still in their wrapper, all are in very good condition and have come from a smoke-free home (unless you count the occasional toast-burning on a Saturday morning) Collection from Gloucester only. Donation to Basschat recommended. The words "gifthorse" and "mouth" apply.
22. I love it when there's "an old character" or know-it-all at a gig. We were playing Pen-y-Graig Labour Club one night and after the first set ended with Walking on Sunshine, this geezer came up to me and told me I was the best lead guitarist he'd ever seen, "and I've seen 'em all", he said. He also complemented me on my beautiful "lead guitar", which was a Spector NS5 and told me I didn't need "one of those whammy bar thingys" to sound good. The advice about just being polite and dashing off to busy yourself is solid. You just don't know who they or their friends are.
23. Here we go... My Bergantino AE210s up for sale. Proper Berg covers included. Collection from Gloucester preferred. Try before you buy if you want. Hit me up.
