Thanks. Yes it sounds great, in passive or active, huge range in active. I think it's the same preamp/eq as the fabled BB1200, could I could be wrong. It's very, very playable.

I've got a fretless BB1100s which I'm in love with. Can be found around the £500 mark.

I've got a pair G15/150 8ohms in the workshop. They were in a huge subwoofer cabinet I bought years ago before I knew any better. The seller demo'd them to me in his garage using a sound wave generator of some sort, the sound went so low it was almost inaudible but cancelled out our speech and made the metal door vibrate like crazy. I used to run a bi-amped rig with a Peavey valve preamp crossover splitting the high and low, through a 200w stereo power amp with the low(left) side going to the 2x15 cab and the highs(right) to a 4x12 cab with H+H pa speakers. The H+Hs weren't great so I tried a pair of 10" 60w McKenzie speakers I had, they sounded great. Somehow that rig kicked out insane sound levels and sounded great. The Celestions coped fine being used as subwoofers and I could drown out most PAs I came across if wanted. I'm sure something must've been on the brink of dying but it was abused for ten years with no ill effects, only being retired due to the rediculous size. I prefer going straight to the desk now with a floor monitor.

Yep, Kay. I was given one and restored it. Actually quite a nice bass with a bit of love, nice punchy pickups, brass nut and fret markers.

Little bit of a late starter. 21, in a band called The Bobblehats at The Buccaneer in Gunnislake, Cornwall. A fantastic, distorted, ear shattering riot that saw us banned from ever playing there again. 😂

And then managed to get Hooky to sign the control cover from my BBPH and the pickguard from my Eastwood Hooky 6 Fac51 edition. Most definitely chuffed.

Having a couple of pints at the hotel before wandering over the road to see Hooky. Much Yamaha and Shergold bass action awaits. 😎

I had a Yamaha BBG5S which fits all the criteria apart from possibly the weight. Absolutely fantastic bass for not very much money. I'm sure there's other Yamahas that fit the bill too.

Going to see Peter Hook and The Light on Saturday and then Albert Lee in three weeks. Variety is the spice of life apparently.

I have a Kimbara Ripper. It's definitely above average build quality wise for the time and it's not overly heavy, big body but not very thick. It plays really nicely with that comfy, worn in feel that you don't get with a new bass. That may be physical but may equally be psychological. Mojo eh?
