  1. Yep, I can see that working well. It will also bring the EA part further away from the edge of the scratchplate and visually balance it better. It will look less tidy under the scratchplate, but that's kind of irrelevant I suppose.
  2. Ha ha, no I've pulled it apart. 1, to give it a good clean and polish, and 2, to be possibly reverse the P pickup.
  3. Small Town England - New Model Army
  4. Now for the fun bit. As I see it there's three options for a simple reverse P mod. Put the EA part below the existing DG part. Put DG part above the existing EA part. Or the simplest, and my preference to keep the core tone of the BB but with that reverse P vibe as no part of the pickup has moved drastically. Just flip the two parts over. I will need to make a new scratchplate to accommodate the reverse P which is no big deal and luckily the chrome on the reverse of the pickup ring is quite acceptable so I can just flip it over an countersink the screw holes. The front has slightly rounded edges where the back doesn't, but it looks fine in the flesh. Front, Back, Nothing will be irreversible, just flip the pickup, ring and refit the old scratchplate, and it's back to standard so I've no worries there. It will just have a large rectangular pickup route rather than a pair of smaller P ones. So do folks think this is worth doing, or am I just bored and stupid?
  5. English Rose - The Jam
  6. Here ya go! Do they usually come in kit form? 😆 It's in very nice condition. A couple of tiny marks that will polish out and just one actual ding that has broken the paint, on the lower bout by the jack socket. I can scan the colour and mix up some paint to run in the crack and polish it out so it's no biggy. Apparently the bass never left the house and has rarely been played and it does look that way. The wood on the fretboard is rather nice and a bit oil should bring it out nicely. The worst ding.
  7. Stickshifts and Safetybelts - Cake
  8. Walk Away - Sisters of Mercy
  9. Down On The Farm - UK Subs
  10. I guessed that was coming. Tomorrow 🙂👍
  11. Yay, it's here and all is good! I had to go out this evening so it was a quick unpackage to check over and that was it. But it's oh so sexy, really nice looking and at first glance appears to be in excellent condition. It's smaller than I expected, but I have been playing a Jack Casady and Ric 4005 mainly and they're both stupidly large. Tomorrow I'll give it a proper try out. But at the mo I'm a very happy chappy! 🙂
  12. She's arrived according to UPS. It's leant against the south facing front door, slowly cooking in the afternoon sun until I get home at six. Opposite the front door is a five metre square gated undercover area. Nevermind 🙄 🤣
  13. Police Car - The Members (cover)
  14. Don't be overly harsh about your badge. I like it!

  16. Tracking lies. 🥺
  17. A brown envelope stuffed with used notes when the Basschat heavies come knocking should do it.
  18. Just had a message that mine is being delivered today, I wasn't expecting it until Friday. Excellent news, apart from I'm at work twenty miles away and nobody else is home. Fingers crossed they leave it somewhere as my property is safe/quiet enough, rather than take it back to a depot to be thrown around. 🤞
  19. Ah, I see what you mean. Yes that would work, although not as strong as a pair of magnets. But easier to screw some self tappers in than recess for magnets I suppose.
  20. If the cover is made from wood or plastic then it won't be magnetic.
  21. Two-lane Blacktop - Rob Zombie
  22. There's a Flea signature Jazz in the classifieds. Lovely basses, if that look is your thing.
  23. In all honesty, I don't know, or if I'll even do it. I'll see when I've had a play. I've always fancied a reverse P and this would make a great trial bass, was my thinking. Looking at pictures I think I'd just swap the E/A and D/G around. If the E/A was simply placed below the D/G, it would look nasty as it would be half in half out of the scratchplate. If the other way then the whole pickup would be too close to the neck I think. Looking at the space available, I don't think there's room for a double P in the scratchplate, not without looking cluttered anyway.
  24. Ah yes, I can see now I've zoomed in on a picture. I thought the pickup surround was mounted on top of the scratchplate, now I can see the scratchplate is cut to fit outside of the surround. So the body is actually routed for the surround to sit into it slightly then. That's still no biggy though. My main issue is what the base of the surround looks like as it'll need fitting upside down if the pickup is reversed. All will become apparent when mine arrives.
  25. Reversing the P pickup is quite high up on the possibles to do list when my 424x arrives. It mainly depends on how the pickup ring has been made, and what it looks like flipped over. The routing and a new pickguard are the easy bit. The pickup ring could be left off if the underside isn't pretty, but I really like the look of them. It should be here by the end of the week so we'll see. Or go the whole hog and have double reverse P like Lee Sklars Presicion, albeit with the J still there.
