1. If this we're really happening do you not think that the MU would be going spare?
2. Any of you local to the North East? I'm interested in buying one and I'd like to try one out. I've got a seven string already so I'm part of the way there!
3. I'm with the it's too subjective camp, but my favourtie UK players are Tom Jenkinson (A.K.A. Squarepusher) and James Leach from SikTh.
4. It's all just a devious plot to put chiropractors out of business. Now if they would just make a version of the SM-1500 that wasn't built from dark matter I'd be sorted. Pity that the Golights haven't got the chrome grills, the chrome looks great on stage.
5. For sale SWR LA12 combo From the SWR site: Since 1984, we’ve been designing and building amplifiers for the top bassists on the planet. With the LA Series, we’ve packaged all that expertise into an amplifier line that just about anyone can afford, all equipped with serious tone and handy features for pros and beginners alike. Whether you’re buying your first amp, or looking for a cost- effective practice complement to an existing full-size rig, the LA Series represents the very best value in the market today. SWR® doesn’t sacrifice tone for price, and neither should you. All LA Series combo amps are loaded with the following features: * Classic SWR preamp with built-in Aural Enhancer™ circuitry * 1/4” post-EQ Line Out/Tuner Output * Stereo Headphone Output with automatic speaker defeat for silent practicing * Mix Input for practicing along with CD players or drum machines * Extended-depth cab design for accurate low-end response * Industrial-grade edge-mount handles for portability and durability 16”W x 16”H x 16”D, 39 lbs. It's a great little combo that does well for home practice as well as small gigs and quiet practicing with a band and with Christmas coming up it would make a great first amp for someone who wants some SWR tone. I'm selling it on because I don't use it much now that I have a home recording set-up. It's in great condition, as new. I'm looking for £120 I'll also consider trades or part ex. (both ways) for studio equipment, effects etc. Indulge me! P.M. me with any questions or offers. I will deliver within a reasonable distance for the cost of the fuel. I can arrange a courier at cost to the buyer.
6. I've got a Progress III and it's the nicest sounding bass I've ever heard. The only complaints I've ever heard about them are that people don't like the longer scale lengths as OW tend to build a lot of 35" and 36" scale basses. If you're going to be spending £2000 then you need to try the basses first. It's be worth calling OW and popping in to their showroom, they're really helpful.
7. Anyone got anything to say about the video?
8. Fantastic sounding rig, well worth checking out if you want a full range sound. Not interested myself but a free bump, I hope you get this sold mate, share the SWR joy!
9. I've got an LA12, I've always found the LA series to be very quiet for the wattage. Still a great little amp if you want that SWR sound though.
10. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgDfSDpBZ5E Just a quick video of my band Beyond The Grave, I wrote most of this one so please tell me what you all think!
11. Metalhead here! Inspiration comes from Dan Briggs of Between the Buried and Me, James Leach of SikTh (R.I.P. SikTh) and Mark Palfreyman of Alarum in terms of people. In terms of bands, Pain of Salvation, Dream Theater, Opeth and Textures. Since becoming a seven string player I've started listening to guitarists a lot more. With regards to the eternal metal problem of clashing with guitarists, I'll just tell my two guitarists what I'm going to play and if they don't like it I'll turn up because I'm louder than they are!
12. 4x10's are what I'd recommend for more proggy rock and metal, they have the power handling, can move the air they need to and give you a nice punchy sound that suits doubling guitars and can cut through when needed.

16. I've got 1500W and I will honestly never need that much power, it's good as Muppet said for comfort headroom, it's nice knowing you've got that extra power. I bought the amp because of the features not the power, I'd be happy with 500W but I suppose it mostly depends on what you're doing, if you want to run 4 8x10s in a huge stadium then that kind of power might be useful but a small 4x10 and 1x15 stack it's perhaps a little unnecessary. They exist so there is obviously a market for them so some people deem them to be necessary and at the end of the day if you can afford it and carry it then why not?
17. Sure thing, I'll do some more pictures today. There's a certain bizzare voyeuristic quality to this forum category, I guess thats why it's called the bass porn forum! The trem is good for flutters and it gives a slightly differently quality of sound than changing pitch by sliding my fingers about. It's good for pitch bending chords too, and as Chris said it is an assload of fun! Here are the pictures (the Squier has a Fender transfer on because the old Squier one was removed by the previous owner and I was not able to get another Squier transfer.)
18. I must say I've always found them to be a bit boomy and woolly. I am a fan of bright hi-fi sounding amps. I used an Ashdown rig for quite a while and it served my purposes at the time but it just didn't have the definition and I moved on to SWR. I'm sure that with the right set up and bass they sound great, it's just not my kind of sound.
19. Cheers guys, it's flamed maple on the top. The squier is a bit of a beast, I've got 50 flatwounds on it which are far too heavy gauge so I'm waiting for some 40s in the post. I'm not sure whether or not to get it refretted, I cant imagine it being too hard seeing as it was fretted previously.
20. It doesn't seem to make much of a difference. The best way to describe it would be that when you're playing pizz you get more of the sound of your fingers on the string if you see what I mean. I think your best bet would be to check out some other basses with magnetic pickups on and see if you get the same thing.
21. Left to Right Conklin GTBD-7 7 string Overwater Progress III 5 string 36" scale Squier Precision Protone fl 5 string with Kahler Whammy and EMGs Aria SWB EUB
22. Trailer Trash Pedalboards The only option guys, I bought one recently and it's the best thing since sliced bread.
23.
Nice, where are the power leads going to?
There is a Voodoo Labs PedalPower 2 nestled snugly on the underside of the board.
24. Just bought myself a Trailer Trash pedal board (http://www.trailertrashpedalboards.com) because I'm not very good at building things. Here it is in all of it's shiny red glory!
