1. You will also find that rhythms you can already play are good to look at if you have not seen the chart before. I remember seeing the bass chart for Zeps Whole Lotta Love for the first time. Not a hard bass line to learn or play but when I saw the chart for the first time I learnt alot from tapping my foot on the down beats and reading how the rhythm was written.
 2. I would suggest learning where just one note is on the board and then move up and down from there i.e.the G string (open top string, thinnest) is the same note as 5th fret D string, same as 1oth fret A string, and the also the 15th fret on the E string. On the stave this is written on the top space inbetween the 4th and 5th line. Just think logically and it will all fall into place.
 3.
Thanks Higgie, yeah that era of EBMM was a time of great builds, had a fretted 1990 one too (sold recently here on basschat) that I moved on when I got my sabre... I know that I'll regret selling these in the future and I'll probably try and buy them back again...
If this was a 5 string I would buy it and simply have it fretted, either markers or bell wire.
 4.
Evening bump. Fair bit of interest outside of Bass Chat.
Nice bass. In my opinion Leo broke the mold with any instruments he designed. A bargain price too.
 5.
Fender American Deluxe jazz or Fender USA Deluxe jazz? Theres no difference?
This is exactly what I thought until I tried to find out more about the string spacing, it was then I discovered that unless I typed in the correct name then I could not find any trace of my bass. Waiting to hear from Fender(could take forever) to see what they say. Ron
 6.
your bass is a USA Deluxe Jazz..i played it.. remember...? the spacing is adjustable from 19mm 20mm, to 21 mm
Hi mate. Thanks for the update on the spacing, as I said I knew nothing about this, but as far as the correct name goes, I think you may well be wrong. I Googled both names and I found the identical bass to mine. I know I could be wrong but everything points to it being a Fender American Deluxe and not as you say. I searched out the 2009 broshure and have included a snapshot of the page with my images. In the meantime to be 100% have also sent Fender the Serial# so they can confirm.
 7. Had name of bass posted incorrectly. I called it a USA Fender Deluxe Jazz. Who knew? Also found out by chance about the adjustable string spacing. Have now included a close up image of a 4 string Jazz to show how this can work. Spacing can be even or uneven. Raking on the G string now really possible by moving string over one notch towards the D string. In the past this was limited as string was easilly pulled off the fretboard.
 8.
Yeah, the Vigiers are fairly out there in terms of styling, my one has a been a bit Marmite-like with others that have tried it over the years! I'm sure with a trip to Bass Direct you will find something awesome though. Good luck!
With that kinda money to spend I would buy a cheap flight to the States and buy, Sam Ash or Mansions in New York. Guitar Centres are everywhere. The state tax you pay is reclaimable and even with import tax you would pay a lot less than Uk prices. I bought a bass in Florida and it work out I saved £700.00 on Uk prices.
 9.
I've been seriously considering a 5-string Jazz of late... Yours looks like a beaut - any idea what the string-spacing is on it?
I now its been a while since you asked about string spacing and never having the need to bother with this I simply measured the space with a ruler. However, I have just discovered something new regarding the bridge. You do infact have more than one option for string spacing. Each saddle has 3 or 4 grooves which the string can sit inside allowing for different spacing options. As I say I was totally unaware of this fact. If you need a better or detailed explanation let me know. The widest can be 21 mm I believe.
 10. Macca uses a lot of open and closed notes on this. i.e. A string open and A (same note) closed on the 5th fret of the E string
 11.
Thanks wal4string, was begining to wonder if my add was invisable...
No problem, I just love MM's but at the moment looking for a 5 string. It seems to me that a lot of BC ers wouldnt know a bargain if it smacked them in the mouth. Plus, have checked out and rated your images but still shows 0. So dont be disheartened, I am sure anybody in the know has checked your ad and just wish they had the wonga. End of the month soon(payday), so maybe money will be less tight then.
 12.
Hi all, for sale is my MIM P Bass. I bought it new from PMT Bristol in February and it's still in mint condition. After 5 or so months of owning it i just don't play it enough to warrant keeping it. I payed £460 for it so i'm looking for £400 for it, comes with a Fender soft case and Schaller strap locks and strap. Pick up only, i'm based in Bristol.
Great looking bass. Shame its not a V. And good to read that your not expecting what you paid for it (I am sick of reading that comment), thumbs up and good luck.
 13. Even though you are not interested in my USA Fender Deluxe Jazz V. Have a bump on me.
 14. Its the weekend. Surely time for a bump and a quick thank you to all our readers. The odd remark, question or thoughts would not go amiss either!

 18.
bump
Have a bump for my dream bass. When I bought my Fender Deluxe Jazz V in The Guitar Centre in Florida, this was the bass I was really after but I needed a five string and they only had your model in the shop. I tried every Five string they had and the only one that came anywhere near in playability and sound was the Deluxe. If only they had a Five string version.
 19.
Need to think about it. I would prefer a maple neck.
PM sent.
