1.
I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure you'll find that body was once a westfield p bass copy- I still have mine (same trans red finish) was the first bass I ever owned and what a stunning finish when it hits the light!!!!! I've done exactly the same to mine as hated the flimsy neck but left the pick-ups in as it gave me a great range of sounds......
I think it could be the body from this bass: http://www.thomann.de/fr/harley_benton_hot_rod_bass.htm Looks damn close to what I have.
2. SR5 I once owned (sold it to buy an electric upright). Still miss it now and then
3. My new FrankenFender: MIM Fender neck and bridge, body of unknown origin, Squier pickguard, Dimarzio pickups:
4. Well, this link is dead now...
5. What a beauty! Will you consider trades? If yes, I have this fretless Hagström here : http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=122362
6. I am Precision-less for the moment (waiting for my Fender-stein PJ project to finish...) but here are my two previous PBs: 1998 Fender AM Std, sold in 2008 2006 Squier Affinity, sold couple of months ago Strangely enough, I liked the Squier much more than its MIA predecessor! It played better and didn't have this annoying dead-note problem on 7th fret.
7.
I use an Alesis multimix 16 channel firewire mixer. It gives 16 channels similtaneous recording and 8 mic inputs with phantom power. I've been using it nearly every day for over 4 years with no problems and I would highly recommend it. I think they make a 12 and 8 channel version too - google it.
I have 8-channel Multimix USB2, using it daily since 3 years, works well enough for me!
8. Wow. For once in a while grammy jury makes good decision.
9.
so I was wondering - what do you guys use for acoustic sessions?
Why, "real bass" (upright) for sure!
10. I will consider trades, but for solid body short scales only - Fender Mustang and the likes. Other things I am searching for: Loop Station, 16 channel recording interface / mixer.
11. I like my GWB35. I've actually got it already upgraded with Bartolini 72BC5C but I didn't liked this pickup and installed the original instead. This Bartolini had too much low mids for me and muffled highs. The original pickup has rather low output but I don't really care, all my amps have volume knobs
12. I voted "Yes": In my own projects I mostly play 4 string basses. However as a sideman being able to play a fiver can make or break some gigs - as rare as it really happens I don't see why should I risk being turned down because of 3 stupid extra notes per song. So yes, I need it and I own two now - one fretted and one fretless.
13. I absolutely don't care about diploma but what's about quality of the courses they propose?
14. Have anybody of you guys considered online courses at Berkeley? http://www.berkleemusic.com/ Looks interesting but pricey... If someone have something to tell, please share!
