1.
Fantastic news.So pleased for you. Excellent tracking skills too!
Thanks, I'm so relieved!
2. All I can say is that I had a problem with a Puma 1000 which I'd bought used on here (to be clear, a problem eventually arose, not straight away) and Thomas Eich was extremely helpful. It took a while to identify the actual problem, and it had to go back again, but it got sorted in the end
3. STOLEN EQUIPMENT RECOVERED! IT'S A MIRACLE! Here's the scoop.......about 7pm last night I got a phone call from my neighbour asking if I'd had any musical equipment stolen? Affirmative, stolen last night. Her brother had found a flight case containing leads and other stuff just up the road from where I live, found a reference to my name in there and my place of work, and rang my office....but I wasn't in. He rang his sister to say do you know Andy Burns, and hence she rang me. I hadn't seen the case at that stage so didn't know if everything was still in it, but I was sure it was mine. Then I thought, if they had dumped the case near to my house (which they had) they were probably on foot. They wouldn't want to be lugging a bass cabinet each round the streets in the middle of the night, so maybe they'd stashed them, to be picked up later with a vehicle? After an extensive search of neighbouring gardens I got to a piece of common land which I can only describe as like a small green. At the back of it, which is against the side walls of properties on two roads joining together, was a stretch of bushes and undergrowth. I ferreted about in there and eventually noticed an area of trodded down vegetation. I followed the trail and at the end of it, against the back wall, were my cabs! YAAAAY! So I thought I'd ring Miriam to fetch the car to pick them up, but I'd left my phone at home in my haste to get "on the case". I daren't leave them there, because it would be just my luck for them to have been collected by the thieves while I was getting my car! So I picked them both up and carried them back to the house! I went round to my neighbour to thank her for triggering the hunt in my mind, and her brother turned up with the case....everything still there....nothing gone, not the mic, the tuner, tools, nothing! So I've got everything back that was taken! RESULT! Big thanks to everyone who shared my post, sent me messages of condolence and support, and especially those who offered to tide me over with gear until I got sorted! I informed the police that I had recovered everything and gave them the location of the stash, to be honest it looked as if it had been used before. I don't know if they attended last night, I haven't heard anything. I'm sooo HAPPY! Thanks everybody!
4.
Have you reported it? I would start searching e bay, gumtree, schpock and local pawn shops.
Hi, yes I have reported it and have a crime number. Searching on eBay and gumtree, been in touch with local pawn shops. Don't know Shpock so will have a look, thanks for the suggestions.
5.
Sorry to hear about this. This must be very frustrating and annoying. Each time I read about this happening its usually starts with ....."stolen out of my car/ the band van....." These bastards that steal our beloved gear have an eye out on us musicians. What I'm saying is its probably not just by chance they strike lucky when randomly choosing which car/van to break into. Its a fair amount of grief when you are tired getting back at 1 am ect for sometimes the third night in a row, and the thought of carrying all our gear back inside is more work at the end of a busy night. Its late and no one is around and its out of sight in the boot. Surely no one can be arsed to run off down the road with a cabinet/s can they? Yes, they can be arsed ,and they have probably been watching you more than you think. Stolen out of an unattended vehicle is way down on the "would cough up " list by insurance companies. Not that any of that helps the OP now
That is very true bassjim and that is more or less what happened and why the gear was still in my car. And they were the assumptions I made, "most people won't even know what a barefaced cab is, let alone steal it". I had removed the basses and heads as they are more portable/valuable. I didn't even think about the value of the flight case and contents until I came to source replacements today. £300+, but acquired over twenty years or more. Hard lesson to learn, empty the car no matter what the time is. :-) Thanks very much for all the comments and sharing so far everyone, I do feel a bit of community spirit on here. Thank you, I'm so angry/upset!!!
6. Hi Basschatters, Sadly I was the victim of a car break in last night and my two Barefaced cabs together with my flight case containing all my cables, Boss TU3 tuner, microphone, and repair/maintenance tools were stolen. I live in Stockport, south of Manchester. Devastated as it took me ages trying various cabs and amps before I settled on something I really liked. Thankfully my basses and heads were elsewhere. One cab was a mark one Big Baby T with a black Roqsolid cover with red piping, and the other was a Big Baby 2, no cover. The rubber on the handle on the Mk 1 was spilt and the metal would cut into your hand. The other was fairly pristine, just one small chip in the front bottom corner. The BBT is slightly bigger (taller) than the BB2 if sat together. The flight case is plywood, black tolex finish, foam lined sides, lots of reinforcing alloy on corners etc, v sturdy piece of kit. What a bummer, got a gig on Friday too :-( If you are offered any of this or hear of it please contact me on here, thanks.
7. Many thanks fretmeister, I'll give them a call. Best regards, Andy.
8. Anybody got one/played one? Opinions? It's 22 fret but the last six or seven frets look as if they are pretty much made inaccessible by the body? Maybe there's a technique to it? Mulling about one but they seem pretty rare in the UK so far. Any info welcome. Thanks, Andy.
9. I've played this particular amp through two Vanderkley 112s which I was considering buying, it's fab and in great nick. Bump for a great amp and GLWTS.
10. Got one of these, dead simple as he says. I too have the EQ flat and actually seldom adjust the taste control either. I've had Ampegs and the TC RH450 with parametric EQs and just couldn't get on with them. This is a great amp at what is now an even greater price (WHAT ARE YOU DOING!). If anybody is thinking about this who lives near me and doesn't want to buy it blind but is too far away to drive to Wales you can try mine through two Barefaced Big Baby cabs, or bring your own. Bump for a great amp.
11. Hi there, Forgive my ignorance but is your amp a slightly older version of this: http://matamp.co.uk/amplification/gt200.htm So it's a 200W valve amp........4ohm or 8 ohm output? How old is it, have you had it from new? Got any dimensions/weight, doesn't appear to be anything on the Matamp website? Thanks for your help.
12. Sorry folks, been a bit out of circulation for a few days. Will contact 2 x 18 and Tecamp. Cheers A.
13. Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this or can give me a pointer as to a solution. I run it with two Barefaced BB2s out of the two separate 500W outputs (not the 3rd one where you can bridge it to 1000W). It works fine for about an hour and a half then suddenly all signal out goes. Amp still illuminated etc. It doesn't always do it. I don't run it at any more than about 1 o'clock max on the master volume, and last night was at about 11 o'clock. It didn't feel hot. At first I thought it was the guitar leads and I changed them all to Rock Wire. Did a gig and all was fine, so I thought it was problem solved. Not the case apparently :-/ Hope someone can help, I've never read anything negative about these amps and I love the tone, I really want to get this sorted. Comments/ideas/suggestions welcome. Thanks folks.
14. I've had one of these for about nine months now, bought on here. It also has the "farting" characteristic on power down but it has no effect on it's performance. Hope that helps reassure potential purchasers. No connection with the seller btw. Bump for a great little amp, GLWTS.
15. Help! I want to learn new stuff from an MP3 or laptop. So I need a device that has stereo and mono inputs (RCA or mini jack for stereo, jack for mono - instrument) and can mix them, and have headphone monitor. HOWEVER sometimes I want to hear the thing "in the room", or play it to someone and say "is that right" or "what's the guitar doing" etc - so I want a MONO output to put it through a PJB briefcase combo - then I can use its headphone monitor or play through its drivers. The Samson has a 1/4" STEREO output - my question is, is there a way I can convert this to a mono signal to go into the PJB? Sorry if this is a dumb question but I've tried to answer it myself through research and can't! Many thanks in advance for any advice/assistance. Regards, Andy.
16. Just taken delivery of my second Barefaced BB2 so this has to go to make room for it. Lovely light cab (18kg) but superb tone and definition right through the range. This is a Series 1 which I acquired from Fernandobicho on here about 18 months ago. It is said that the Series 1 cabs are superior in sound to the later 2 and 3 series and they are certainly lighter. I believe the speakers are B & C who supply Markbass. Produces a massive sound for it's size. Jack and speakon sockets, inset carrying handles, adjustable tweeter. The cab produces quite a hi fi sound which doesn't colour your bass, what you get out of this is what your bass is putting out. Solid lows, clean highs, no distortion. Cab has been gigged regularly but travelled on the back seat of the car rather than chucked in the back of a van! Some minor blemishes but nothing that would show up in a photo and the carpet covering is in good nick with no tears or abrasions. I have the packaging it arrived in (which is actually a Markbass box!) so I can post at cost but you're welcome to collect, or call in for a brew and a noodle if you're in the area. Pics below, any questions just fire away. [sup][/sup]
17. Hi there, Sorry the RH450 is sold, will be listing the Epifani as soon as I can get some decent pictures taken in reasonable daylight (not thunderstorms!). If you are still interested and want to make me an offer please pm me and if we can come to an agreement I won't need to list it
18. Selling my RH 450, which has been my back up amp, as I recently acquired a Tecamp Puma 500 which is more appropriate as a back up for my Puma 1000. Acquired used on here about six months ago and has only been used once to test it out. It's versatile and loud, details from Thomann website here http://www.thomann.d...onic_rh_450.htm Also coming up is an Epifani UL 210 Series 1 but got to wait for my new delivery from Barefaced, hopefully this week :-) Will put pics up in a bit. Any q's fire away.
19. PM'd. Can send pics if you're interested, forgot to put that in the message :-/. It's got no marks or scuffs at all.
20. Many thanks for the info guys! Food for thought :-)
21. Thanks for that MOSCOWBASS. Forgive my ignorance but what's the difference between a Shuttle 9.0 and a Shuttlemax 9.2? There's a Shuttle 9 for trade on here for a RH450, which I happen to have and can't get on with?
22. Sorry to thread jack this. Can I just ask those using the Roland if it's loud enough for what I call an "acoustic" rehearsal? We rehearse in a house usually using practice guitar amps, an electronic drum kit and just natural vox. I'm using a Fender Rumble 60 at the moment but it's a bit overkill, I don't use it for anything else and could do with downsizing the size of gear I have in the front room and making the lugging about easier? From time to time I've been invited to busk with some people I'd have liked to work with as well but not had the gear to do it - is it ok on batteries outside?
