1. Definately different to both a hash brown and a scone. Imagine a pancake about 6-8 inches across cut into triangles but made with potato and flour. Maybe a bit like a nan bread??? But only in appearance. I'm going to have to have a go at making it myself!
2.
Yes, I can't have a fry without potato bread and soda bread. A filled soda is a great thing too!
Why is it that what was once seen as "peasant Fayre" is always just the best? You guys are making me miss my grandads cooking! Back on topic, the OP should check out black sabbaths new track..... If he can't pick geezer out of that line up he really does need help. HUGE grinding tone that it sounds amazing!
3. Hey kiwi, I think as a whole this site is great. I must admit I was a little miffed at first when my classified add was not accepted due to not being financial. But then when I compared it with value for money against eBay, combined with the priceless info I get from the member of this forum on other topics, it seems justifiable. Although maybe as a sweetener you could offer financial members discounts on BC merchandise? I do like those polo shirts!
4. That sounds like a life's work milty, I think I'll join you! My grandad used to make the best, so we will stop off in Sydney!
5. I still can't believe you havnt sold this yet! It kills me every time I see it... Good luck and have a bump
6. Sweet looking wick, I can't imagine this will stick around too long! Just need to move my mike dirnt now!
7. The hat, I agree with you it can be hard to pick at times. Earty metallica like off kill em all is a good example check out seek and destroy, and the four horsemen.
8. Without bass there is no metal IMHO, I also don't subscribe to the just support the guitar school of metal bass. Personal I am constantly amazed at cliff Burtons style he locks in with the kick drum, supports the main guitar riff but also throws in mad runs.... Legend (ducking for cover from the cliff basher's now). But seriously, how good is potato bread!!!
9. Me too Steve! If any purists out there are put off by the fact this is a "signature" model, don't be shy, the only thing that's noticeable is the small star on the neck plate. Otherwise this could just be a tele p bass with a badass bridge. Trust me, this bass will make you sound as cool as you will look!
10. Being an Aussie Growing up in the 80's, the divinyls were part of the soundtrack to my childhood. Chrissy was blessed with an amazing and unique voice, truly a one off, and she wrote/performed some amazing songs and will be missed. I'm not too sure on the "classy lady" description, she was a dirty rock n roller to the core, I've heard a story or two that could make a sailor blush 😳RIP darlin.
11. Hi guys n gals, not sure if this is the right spot for this but here goes. I am building a practice space in my garage, which will consist of stud timber frame with sound deadening plasterboard. I was going to use rock wool in the cavity for additional sound insulation but that stuff is expensive 😳. Any thoughts on how effective it is for sound insulation, and any other more cost effective suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers!
12. The silence is deafening! No one interested in mike??? I would really like to move on with this, let me know guys!
13. Much the same as Frankenstein's monster was created from various body parts and became his own master, so too you can build your own sound. Don't dismiss what your heroes have done, study them closely and you may find that the thing you really like about them is one particular part of their playing style. Use this and morph it with all your favourite players and create your sound that way.
14. Thank you to the op for being so candid, I have had the same thoughts on quitting at times, it's only that I'm a stubborn bugger that I refuse to quit. I also thought the big guys were just in a league if there own, but I have started listening to bass master tracks for transposition recently, and even they get it wrong at times... I think the important thing to remember is that bass is a HARD instrument to play perfectly ALL the time, use your recordings as a positive learning experience rather than a harsh examination. Remember, keep moving! Motion is creative and positive and has energy. At the risk of throwing another one line out there, I constantly remind myself that the quickest way to success in any walk of life, is find something that is hard or that you are avoiding and do that! Just think of it as easy and it will be!!! You don't want to end up like the worlds angriest guitarist who is all over Facebook at the moment, if you don't know what I'm talking about I suggest you get ready for a really good laugh! +1 to the advice of playing at half tempo, I find this invaluble in learning to play fast passages
15. The saying is true, no pain no gain! So long as we are only talking surface pain and not muscle/tendon pain. I think the problem lies in your preparation, you say you practice for 30 mins a night and then do two 1 hour sets at a gig.... Think how much training a professional footballer trains per day for two 45 min halves, I'm tipping its more than 22.5 mins! Remember, don't over do it to the point of doing an Injury, but the harder you train (or practice) the easier the big game (or gig) will be. Good luck, and remember pain is only temporary!
16. Hey Guys n Gals, up for sale is my Fender Mike Dirnt P bass, this bass has an amazing sound with classic looks, how could you NOT want this bass? I am after £400 for this and would prefer a straight sale, but if you have something to trade just let me know. Come with 2 scratch plates, one black, one tortoiseshell http://s1283.photobu...68359c.jpg.html http://s1283.photobucket.com/user/damonjames79/media/photo-3_zps202336d1.jpg.html http://s1283.photobucket.com/user/damonjames79/media/photo_zps01159447.jpg.html http://s1283.photobucket.com/user/damonjames79/media/photo-4_zps12615ad8.jpg.html http://s1283.photobucket.com/user/damonjames79/media/photo-1_zps7d61ee8f.jpg.html As you can see from the pics, aside from some light scuffing from playing (i think with a pic, from the previous owners) it is in excellent condition. The scuffing isnt that noticeable, its just the photo was taken up close with the flash on, and in the interest of being honest about the sale I wanted to show it. I am located in Middlewich, Cheshire but if you are in the North West somewhere let me know, for the right price I might be able to deliver
17. How much do kidney's go for these days? I have two!
18. I've played in several non metal bands over the years, though I am a thrash metal fan at heart! I always admired cliff burton as a teenager, and now I am trying to learn his work, I respect him even more! If I could find a thrash metal band nearby, I'd love to have a shot!
19. Fair call mate, didn't realise until after we spoke about this bass, we had been chatting in a thread a while back about the hoppus! Mate I'm stuck with this mike dirnt at the moment so until I shift it ill be on the sidelines, but ill keep an eye out!
20. If that's the case, he should check out his fellow band mate Mr Tim Commerford, more often than bot he follows the same licks/riffs as Tom, and uses some great fuzz sounds among other effects
21. A bassist like Tom Morello? 😧Wow I must be ignorant, I thought he was just the guitarist in rage against the machine!
